Re: Pets
I love animals and though I do not have a lot of them, I have ones that I really like and care about. My favorite would be my 2 hedgehogs which are named Sonic and Knuckles. I actually thought of breeding them but things did not really go as planned with the female hedgy seemingly not open to the idea.
Cham Cham, my Labrador Retriever is also a great companion and stays as loyal as he is.

All kitteh's eyes start out blue, I believe. They only take on other colors as they age. Meeka has golden eyes now.

Wow, that's pretty amazing. Man, I want a kitteh. Never had one, but I really want one! My poor dog got his pads all cut up on something. The little fellow has been resting around the house today, and he's got something of a limp.

As it turns out, it was actually from a piece of sharp metal on the bell that he rings when he wants to go outside. I fixed that and he's feeling much better today, although quite peeved that he's again being banned from going on a walk.

Re: Pets
I'll put this here since I wouldn't know who else would understand (though I did discuss this with a particular cat and music lover).
My cat Oscar seems to be dying. If you recall, my cat is 23 and has lived quite the life, and it seems he had some sort of diabetic stroke the other day and is now dehydrated. They're treating him at home but I sort of knew the last time I saw him that he's had a good life and is ready for the big, comfy couch in the sky. He's a lot slower than he used to be, he's mostly blind now, and, while he's happy, he's just not the cat he used to be - understandably. So hearing these reports of his health doesn't really surprise me.
But, I realize I'm not really adequately prepared to lose Oscar. I got him when I was in second grade; I still remember adopting him because my mother thought we had mice (we had moles instead), and how Oscar was afraid of them and she wanted to bring him back, but I begged her to keep him because I always wanted a cat. I stayed up all night for weeks to just talk to him because he was scared of our house. So, I never had a pet die before, not one that was mine and whom I loved so dearly. The worst is that he's at the end of his life and I can't even be with him. He used to follow me all around the country (as I'm a young person and so often on the move), but on the last trip his vet said it would be too stressful, so my brother and sister-in-law generously took him in. When I go home, Oscar curls up right beside me and follows me all around like the good ol' times - he even puts his paw on my leg if I try to get up and leave him. We have fun. But now my cat is probably slowing down and I can't even be there to pet his head and laugh at all the fur he sheds and how it sticks to everything. It's kind of...weird. It's weirder to think that, after all these years, maybe he won't be there when I next go home.
Well, it's touch and go now to see how he fares the next few days. I'd rather put him out of his misery if he's in any, but I'm deferring to my family since they were kind enough to take him in. And that's the s'wit pouring out her heart to you, UESP...over my cat.

Re: Pets
Avron, as a person who lost 3 cats in a single year (boy, 2010 was one BAD year for me), all I can say is: it's going to suck. And be prepared to be sad for a long, long time. I still get about my cats (particularly Tiger, dunno if some of you still remember about him). It doesn't matter if you HAVE to have hm put to sleep, if you know he's in pain, if you know you're doing the right thing. It will suck. That said, you have to remember all the good things, like that he managed a VERY long life. My one cat was put to sleep due to old-age-related illness at 14. So Oscar really did have a very long life, and you'll always be able to remember the good times. Oh. And say goodbye to him. I never got a chance to say goodbye to my old cat (my mom thought she was sparing me that sadness), and it sucked.Avron the S'wit wrote:Sad things about her poor cat.
