Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
Or Fortify illusion potions solve that if you don't want to use perks.
Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
yes they do... Doesn't make me any less mad about it.
Normal - 9
Perk Boosted(univ) - 17 (the +8 levels for calm)
Vampire moded - 19~
Dual Cast - 43~
Fear
Normal - 9
Perk Boosted(univ) - 19 (the +10 levels for fear)
Vampire moded - 21~
Dual Cast - 48~
Animage and kindred mage don't affect undead, mechanical or daedra (except vampires) when you have the master level perk.
Add in necromage and you can get Fear and Calm over 50 againt undead when dual cast. But still, it doesn't cure everything. At character level 81 I would find Ash spawn that were too advanced for even dual cast Adept and Expert level spells. Sure I could make even one of the greybeards swoon on command, but at near 3 times the cost of the spell while requiring far more care than say planting a poison arrow into their spine at a mountain away.
TLDR: perks won't fix why I'm mad at the situation, nor will fortify (spell school) potion. Mods can alter and fix my issues, but that's about the same as saying the old ogma infinium glitch would fix an issue.

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
According to the wiki:
Max level for Dwemer Automatons: Level 36 (Dwarven Centurion Master)
Max level for Draugr: Level 34 (Draugr Death Overlord)
Max level for Daedra: Level 30 (Storm Atronach) - 46 for Dremoras, but they are considered NPCs and are therefore affected by perks.
Max level for Ash Spawns: Level 40 (Ash Spawn Immolator)
So, unless you play a modded game that increases enemy levels, Illusion spells will work against pretty much everything if you invested the perks. If a mod changes that, don't blame it on the skill.

Other than the normal screamers? The lack of "epic"... I love this game but where is the emotion.. No depth, no compelling story lines, no "epic".. It's jes a little dull.. The game is fun but arcadish.. I don't feel as if I'm playing a rpg, more like call of duty with magic and swords.. Plus it's missing finishing moves. Not kill cam moves but killing blows that require learning them over time. Kill cam can be done at level one, it would be nice to learn a secret from some great warrior how to lift an opponent off the ground with a uppercut blow then bash him back to earth...

You learn more kill cams overtime. And finishing moves make it more like an action game, not less. And CoD has no character development. At all. Your character never grows. Ever. Until that happens, I don't think we can compare them.

I don't think it's that far of a stretch, actually, to compare these two. In my opinion, Skyrim is already more action game than RPG. It just still has some RPG elements left in it.Br3admax wrote:You learn more kill cams overtime. And finishing moves make it more like an action game, not less. And CoD has no character development. Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
You know what? I wish Skyrim didn't have kill cams. The damn things, especially the ranged/magic ones, are buggy and annoying as hell.
Almost every time I get one of them, it either misses or fails to kill the opponent. It's especially annoying when you get several misses/failed kills in a row. Or those times where the shot, which would have hit the opponent under normal circumstances, just goes flying right through the enemy because you got a kill cam. Or when the enemy, during a kill cam, goes flying right up to Secunda, stays up there for 5-10 seconds, and then lands like nothing ever happened leaving you to try to kill it. Again.
With the melee ones, my game likes to get stuck in the kill moves for far too long. Sometimes I have to reload because of it.
They're more of a nuisance than anything.

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
Yea the kill cams are annoying specially the one the death lords preform on you.. One hit kills... I wasn't talking about kill cams, more like better finishing moves on enemy's with low health... Like decapitate but better, maybe a whirlwind finish for dual wielding.. The power attacks are a little boring and with dual wilding there isn't much to do.. I would like to see more special moves not jes spin around with a hammer or over head bash, why not an uppercut lifting the enemy..? But my comparison to cod wasnt alluding to leveling obviously that's what sets action apart from rpg, more along the lines I stated above, not much in the way of killing enemy's gun them down, slash, spell, arrow.. Not very creative..

Arcadish? Absolutely not. WHile it may be a little dumbed down, it is no where close to that.sevenindasun wrote:Other than the normal screamers? The lack of "epic"... None of that ever happened to me, either you're really unlucky or you're running the game on a system that's not quite powerful enough.Mauin wrote:You know what? I wish Skyrim didn't have kill cams. The damn things, especially the ranged/magic ones, are buggy and annoying as hell.

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
Unlucky. My PC can run Skyrim between 30-60fps on very high settings with minimal issues. Besides, I've heard of others who have had the same issues.
The kill cams still play when I disable them through a mod, too, so that makes no difference. Shouldn't have had them, if you ask me. The older games were all fine without them. Skyrim didn't need them.
Edit:
What I meant about my game getting stuck in kill cams wasn't my computer suddenly deciding to lag (it does sometimes, but it depends on the size of the save; newer ones work just fine compared to the older and larger saves). No. What I meant was the camera getting stuck in the kill cam. I never got my control back.
Then again, that happens with other things. I dig a "shallow grave" (from an armor mod) and get hit by something, my camera [&@%!] up and results in me having to reload the game from the last save because I can't control things or move properly. Basically stuck with my camera in one position. Sometimes I can control the character, sometimes I can't.
Fortunately, I haven't had my game get stuck on a kill cam in a long time.
But the other things?
Yeah, I had a lot of ranged magic kill cams miss earlier this morning. There's no excuse for the game playing a kill cam when a shot was a miss. I hate playing mages or rangers because of that.

I never minded them, It adds flavor if you ask me, id rather see my character do a cool finishing move than to hit a guy in the hammer shaft until he falls over.Mauin wrote:Unlucky. It would be nice to have the option to turn them off though, i know they're not for everyone.

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
This has happened to me a few times lately, not with killcams but after getting ragdolled by a dragon, so I suppose it can occur with any kind of animation that makes the game switch from 1st to 3rd person. Very annoying when you're all happy to see yourself get up again after being flung across half of Skyrim[/hyperbole], ready to go on fighting, only to find you might as well have died.Mauin wrote: What I meant about my game getting stuck in kill cams wasn't my computer suddenly deciding to lag (it does sometimes, but it depends on the size of the save; newer ones work just fine compared to the older and larger saves). As for killcams, I love them despite their bugginess; my only quibble with them is that most of the time they're over before my finger finds the screenshot button and my game tends to act funny if I try to tfc 1 during a killcam.

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
Game Mechanic-wise , I hated that I can't perform some sort of back-slide, or other similiar movement that could help me dodge enemies blows.
Story-wise, I hated that there are no branches in faction/guild questlines, for example,
Oh, I'm also mad that Bard's College is not a joinable faction with full fledged storyline.
Other than that, it's 500 hours fun.

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
Kill cams are fine on melee characters. It's just the magic/archery kill cams I have a problem with.Finn Wolfshorn wrote: This has happened to me a few times lately, not with killcams but after getting ragdolled by a dragon, so I suppose it can occur with any kind of animation that makes the game switch from 1st to 3rd person. Then again, some melee kill cams don't work either. Sometimes I pull the kill cam, but the NPC doesn't die. Their health has to be brought down to 0, then you have to get another kill cam on them until they die. It's not quite as annoying as getting several kill cam misses in a row when using magic or a bow. That rhymed.
I've been ragdolled by a Dragon in the middle of a kill cam on said Dragon before (those Sun Dragons are annoying). I had to reload a save from at least 30 minutes before because I couldn't get things working again.
I think it's an issue with the cutscenes, though. I've had it happen, maybe only once or twice in my 1900-something hours, where I couldn't move the camera or my character after a major cutscene. Tried consoling my way out of it, but that didn't work so I had to reload.
Oh, and tfc 1 doesn't work at all during kill cams. Or with the Vampire Lord form, for that matter. I don't know why. It's not just your game.
If you want to take screenshots during a kill cam, just open the console (gotta be quick) and type tm like you were going to take an ordinary screenshot. This will pause the kill cam and hide the console from view. From there, you can edit the field of view or remove blur, though changing the field of view will change the angle of the kill cam. Take the shot, type tm to bring back the console and HUD, then close the console. Everything will/should proceed as though you didn't do anything.
That's how I take kill cam shots, anyway.

Serana. Cannot sneak with that woman. I'm sneaking up on a Falmer, planning to skewer it when she cries 'Where did you come from?' and tells the thing where we are. Every flaming time. If I didn't need her with me for my current quest, I'd ditch her faster than a hot coal.

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
I agree Tor Eden, you've seen one Inn you've seen em all.
I think its bad when, fully dressed as a Stormcloak, you stroll into an Imperial camp and no one seems to care.
Also, lack of emotion in characters (as sevenindasun said). One woman just found out her daughter was dead, then back to the same old dialogue, and eating a sandwich.
(On the positive side though, Alvor and Sigur in Riverwood both got killed by a dragon, leaving their daughter without parents, but she just sat in her house alone and seemed non the wiser).
A weird glitch mine does too. If I fast travel to a location that is close to where there is a dragon skeleton, it loads up the massive skeleton above me and drops it on top of me. It doesnt do any damage, but it scares me everytime.
Also, does anyone know a good way to distinguish between friend and foe when you're in a group battle? I have to pretty much stay out cos I usually end up attacking friendlies. Maybe life signs detect spell but I never see that for sale, is it an adept illusion spell or something?

The dragon skeleton after fast travel is "normal". Happens to me and I'm sure to others as well.Aarah wrote:A weird glitch mine does too. Detect Life is an adept level Alteration spell. Your Alteration needs to be level 40+, I think, for it to show up for sale. There is a side quest, though, where you'll get that spell as a reward, regardless of your Alteration skill level. Don't want to spoil it for you, so I'm not giving the exact location of the quest. You can look it up in the wiki if you want to

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
I'm only about 25 skill level for alteration, only use candlelight spell in that school. Oooo, I'm intrigued about getting it as a reward. I wont look it up, I think I'll wait and see if i come across it - maybe a College of Winterhold side quest I'm thinking.
Yeh you'd think the armour would help, but I can never tell them apart in the midst of battle ( I'm a bit crap). I know it doesnt matter if you hit your team mates, exept being wracked with guilt at the 6 dead Imperials lying about that you mistook for the enemy (if Gen Tullius was real I'm not so sure he would have been quite so keen to reward me with that Dwarven shield I just got). I thought the spell maybe made the foes glow red and the others blue. I think all the riff raff should wear bright red hats, sorry, helmets, you know, for us simple folk.
Hmm, you know you're somewhere odd when a dragon skeleton dropping onto your head is classed as 'normal'.

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
While the colors are indeed different for friends and enemies, the spell doesn't quite work the same way as it did in Oblivion. It's like the novice Healing or Flames spell. You have to constantly cast it to keep it up. I think the auras will be visible for another second or two after you stop casting, but if you're dual-wielding weapons or want to carry a shield, it's a highly inconvenient spell to use during battle. Not to mention that its magicka cost is quite high.
But this is getting off-topic.
