I've read the books and love them and the tv show. Love seeing all the characters and surroundings come to life in the tv show.
My favourite characters are Jon, Tyrion, Jaime, Arya, Bronn, and The Hound.
Least favourite: Theon (actually all of the Greyjoys...found their POV story lines a bit boring), Cersei and Joffrey.

You all know Bronn is the best.
If Bronn, were female and looked like our Khaleesi, THEN maybe he'd be the best. Until then....

Proud to say that I picked up the first 2 seasons of GoT a couple days ago. Havn't read the books, and I've only seen like 4 random episodes.

Soon I will know what you're all talking about.

Watch out.

Have to admit I'm not understanding all the Bronn love. Would anyone care to explain.

Well, he's not bad-looking, he can sing, he's got some good scenes with Tyrion, and he's a badass in general. What's not to like? xD

Mmmm. I love the books and the series so much, but favourite character? That's tough.
Of course, I loved Tyrion, Dany, Jaime, Ned, Sam, Arya, (especially in this thread, dead characters deserve loving, too <3) Bronn, I thought the hound was wonderfully portrayed, as is Davos... And Joff and Sansa (to a degree) and Theon go good jobs of making me hate them. Probably the best acting in the show, heh.

My short list of negatives:
I think Cersei could have been better cast.
THEY KILLED IRRI WHY WHY WHY :(

It's been more than a year since I read the books. I did wonder when that happened Irri, that's not in the books is it? Also Robb's wife seems different and Shae's relationship with Tyrion seems more sincere. Makes me wonder if there's going to be a number of departures from the books.

As for Bronn, he has absolutely no loyalty which will is exemplified when
Spoiler:
He turns his back on Tyrion after Joff's death.

No one expected him to be loyal. His interests no longer overlapped with Tyrion's so that was that. However, he shows that he still appreciates Tyrion when
Spoiler:
he names Lady Lollys's [&@%!] after him.
He makes me laugh, and he's a total badass. He's just the best.

That's true, but if I recall correctly, he did warn Tyrion at the start that
Spoiler:
he'd only be with him as long as he's paying highest, or something to that effect.
The wiki for the book series has him quoted as saying "I sell my sword. I don't give it away."

So I should respect him for the fact that he's upfront about the fact that he's not trustworthy? Still seems like trash to me.

People keep picking their favourites based on how much they can relate to them, how many positive values they see in them etc etc. That's the wrong way to go about it, folks. You can appreciate every character if they're a good character.

Captain Hook is an [&@%!], but he's still the best thing about Peter Pan.

I'm not sure what you're basing that on. If I didn't have an appreciation for twisted characters I'm not sure how I could even read the books. It's just that to me Bronn is a bottom feeder, which isn't even an interesting sort of flawed.

I'm not saying to respect him for it, I'm just saying it wasn't a huge shock, so I was more upset about other betrayals. I may not like that part of him nor find it interesting, but there are other things I like about him - he's entertaining in the scenes he appears in - which outweighs what I dislike and which is why he's on my "characters I like" list rather than "characters I'm neutral about" or "characters I dislike".

You said he's trash, and that that's why you dislike him. "Twisted characters" and "anti-heroes" are different things, though. A twisted character is fascinating because of their twisted nature. An anti-hero like Bronn isn't twisted, or even all that interesting. That's what I like about him. I don't think he's trash. He's honest and straightforward. He may not be loyal, but you know where you stand with him. He makes me laugh frequently, and I'm generally a sucker for cool side characters.

I find the hound much more entertaining because despite the fact that he's often much more contemptible than Bronn, his character can be surprising at times.

Just watched the newest episode and damn the last scene with Daenerys was awesome. I've been waiting for that moment ever since they introduced the Unsullied a couple episodes ago.

Spoiler:
That was an awesome episode. It had it ALL. It's great when a show finally does what you want. You sit there watching thinking, why not just do this or that, and of course they do the total opposite. This ep was the best for getting [&@%!] sorted.

I love how the King Slayer is finally getting some punishment, with all the smack he talks. They should have taken his head when Eddard Stark lost his. There was no point keeping him for bargaining power. An eye for an eye. He may be turning into a 'good' guy, but it's only because he has no other options.

Craster ALSO got what he deserved. I don't know how they put up with his BS for so long. I know he has the deal with the walkers, but he has no men for defence. All the men from the wall would have been sick of the treatment they got, they didn't need to kill Jeor. But at the same time. Enough is enough.

Margaery is a totally player. She has Joffrey totally wrapped around her little finger. She is another great character and favourite of mine. Now making the move to get Sansa to marry her brother, she's a clever little vixen.

As for Khaleesi,
I haven't read the books so it's all new to me... but I totally called what she did, back when she first came to barter for the army. It was so obvious, she would never give up one of her dragons, and was ALWAYS going to pull the old 'burny, burn, burn' move as soon as she had what she wanted.

What puzzles me though, from north to south everyone knows little details of the goings on with different holds, and people. Except news of a lady who has 3 baby dragons fails to reach any of their ears. Surely they have eyes and ears as far as the land stretches, so why is no one fussed or even talking about the mother of dragons AND her dragons? Wouldn't it be much wiser to take her and the dragons out while they were weak and small.
I know they probably don't know she is coming for them, but it's still a HUGE threat to the safety of any king or ruler.

At the same time I am glad Khaleesi is shaping to be so powerful. She is my favourite character now. Her story is awesome.

You know nothing, Jon Snow. Jaime's one of the best characters in the show.
