Grey-Manes because the Battle-Borns make me uncomfortable and the Grey-Manes are counter-culture. And they are master smiths.

Gray-Manes. Most of the Battle-Born are jerks and every person in the Gray-Mane family is likable...plus you never hear this from a Battle-Born "Battle-Born! Gimme 10 septims or I'm gonna bloody yer nose!"

You have no problem ignoring it in game, but here you can't do the same?
I'm not ignoring it, I do have an opinion on the "question" and I told it to them in game (you don't actually have to choose, if you noticed, you can tell them you don't care). I told the same here, as there was no third option to choose in the poll. I don't see the problem, unless this question is not meant to be the same one you have in game?

If you want a more detailed answer, I think I like the Grey-Manes more, in fact, I generally like the Stormcloak families more, even some of their ideals, but I can not side with them, because they are ruining Skyrim imho, even if most of them don't think that (and half the forum goers don't either, that's fine). It doesn't mean I'll be friendly with the other side. And the question, as he stated it, was spoiling for a fight. The Dragonborn, as the most powerful figure in Skyrim at the moment, should not choose any side in that question, it would be... very much out of character, for mine at least. Playing a less proud character, it can be done, yes.

I prefer Grey-Manes, they seem more noble even if they don't like the Empire. Battle-Borns are a little too arrogant for me.

Grey-manes. Vignar's voice (Pete from Gooftroop) annoys me, but that's all. The Battle-Borns seem to me more concerned about social-class/standing than anything.

I like the Battle-Borns, I liked that the first time I walked into Whiterun I saw Idolaf trying to convince Adrianne to help the Empire, it seemed to convey real character and real emotion and is actually one of my first Skyrim memories. I'm not so much a huge fan of Olfrid, but from what I observed of Vigner Grey-Mane at the defence of Whiterun, I'd be inclined to believe what Olfrid claims, at least in part. The Battle-Borns have prospered while the Grey-Manes have waned and likewise, the Battle-Borns have remained loyal to the Empire while the Grey-Manes have fallen into line with Ulfric against the Empire and Skyrim; and even against Whiterun.

For the haters of the Battle-Borns:

1)Join the Stormcloaks.
2)After some fights go back to Whiterun and talk to Olfrid.
3)PROFIT.

I hate the Battle-Borns, so I decided to kill all but two. I can't kill Olfrid because he is an ally of the Thieves Guild and it is impossible to kill children in the game, but overall Grey Manes.

I'm Imperial, though I prefer the Gray-Manes.
Still, I got to like the Battle-Borns a little bit because of
Spoiler:
the Thieves Guild quest you get to know them a bit better.
And I found the Romeo and Juliet situation funny.

Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

Gray-Mane. How could anyone worth their weight support the Battle-Borns in truest intention? :|

Gray-Mane! But I like Jon & Bergritte as well from the Battle-Born side. And Lars.

Jon and Olfina = Skyrim's Romeo and Juliet?

I can truly say I don't care. I have robbed both of their houses blind. Anyone who tells me how great they are/ were is inviting me in to loot them.

Haha, good point. I found myself at 99 Pickpocket and robbed all the Gray-Manes. I liked them, yes, but Eurlond had really expensive stuff and I got to 100 very quickly. I felt a bit sorry, but it all went away when I reached master level!

The Grays. I support the empire but the battle are like dealing with the thalmor and stuff. Bit of sell outs.
I would be a procrastinator, but I keep putting it off.

Braith is a Redguard, the daughter of Amren & Saffir. I voted Gray-Mane as the Battle-Born are such stuck up brown nosers.

I'd like Battle-Born a lot more if that one guy in Whiterun didn't have such an annoying voice.

Grey Manes.

Only reason being.... "Olfrid! Patron of the great clan Battle-Born! A name I'm sure you know well...."

Yup, go die in a hole Olfrid.
