It's volcanic Glass which has to be mined,you can visit a glass mine in morrowind i believe

Well glass still has certain properties like . Color,texture,combustion,metalic,how it fragments and allot of other stuff too.
If somethign doesn't look right look at it again.

But if you do that you waste more of you life.
