Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Today I realized that I hit a wall in my quest to find songs I like. This quest began a short time ago when I got an iPod and decided that I needed to start listening to music. (For those of you that don't know, before this iPod, I almost never listened to Music. So while I'm stuck I decided to simply rock back and forth in my chair listening to Shadow on the Sun. Over and over and over and over...

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Well, last night's gig, all considered, went better than the one on Sunday.
For a start, I didn't think it would. Getting home at ten past 6 and being required to be at the other end of town for 7 is a tough order but I just about made it, thanks to my discovery that I can eat fish and chips with one hand whilst packing gear up with the other.
At soundcheck I bought a harmonica mic off one of the other guys that was playing (it was pre-arranged, obviously) which didn't work. So we swapped the mic around for a different one, and that didn't work either. So we swapped the cable round, and that didn't work. We plugged into a different socket on the wall box and that didn't work. I can't remember what we did eventually to make it work, but I did get sound coming through at some point.
Then I discovered that my mandolin is quite susceptible to interference from stage lights when I plugged in, but I used a footswitch and my ingenuity to solve that problem.
So, after it took us 20 minutes to soundcheck I was convinced the gig was going to be awful, but we actually played an absolute blinder until the last song, which I should add is my favourite one in the set to play. The singer snapped a string (the D string, which if you're just strumming chords is quite an important one) and despite me doing my best international sign language for 'Keep going' the song just sort of spluttered to a halt. I shouted in mock outrage that she'd ended it just before my solo, and someone shouted out for me to play it anyway. Cue me stamping out a beat on the floor as loud as I could whilst playing a completely over-the-top blues harmonica solo - great fun, I have to say.

Get a last.fm profile, not so much for the actual listening, but for finding bands.Dark Lord wrote:Today I realized that I hit a wall in my quest to find songs I like. Plus you can get some software to scrobble music from your iPod.
Couldn't say about Pandora, tbh, but that or Spotify be good if you can get them.

Today I spent lunchtime walking around like a character from Morrowind.

I've slept for 36 hours before, but that's because I have narcolepsy, so I'm not sure if it counts.

Hmmm...longest I've ever stayed up was probably 24 hours.a 9 hour flight in the middle of the night and stupid airline seats made for hobbits led to that

The fact that you're Irish makes this all the more funnier. I can just imagine you in a Mrs Doyle voice going "Will ye have a cup o'tea there, Fathers?"The Dog Whisperer wrote:Some scary ISP dudes from 3 came to the house. I made them some tea.

Im really getting back into my acoustic
I was not a big fan of it but tonight i have learned two new songs.
Its a shame that its a classical guitar- it just means that the fret board is like 4 inches wide, but it does deliver a good sound

RUSSIAN!
A sudden boost of confidence meant I was able to speak fairly fluently. A whole year of preparation burned off in eleven minutes of talk! Now I just have to wait.
