Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Our temperature isn't too far off from that, I think. It was 34 feeling like 43 with humidity the other day. Luckily it's cooled off a bit now.
That sounds like a lovely day, you've had. ^-^

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
TO be fair, both Canada and the UK are used to being cold. For us to experience weather that is hot is unusual. In the UK, actually having summer be hot is somewhat unusual. It's hot enough for dogs to die.
There's been at least one report of a dog dying just by walking. We're not used to heat like this. Just rain, wind and a bit of sun is our summer. Not sun, sun, sun, sun, sun etc...
Anyway, got the ol' mop cut off last monday, Lidl got my hopes up with coffee Ice Cream being a quid. Turns out my branch lacks it.
Yeah, tis about it. Oh and managed to get my laptop's DVD function to work.I do have PowerDVD but that is buggy. I swear it crashes a lot thus getting an altenrative.

I found out that my season ticket to my local football club (NOT SOCCER!!) is only £25 for a potential 40 matches a season!

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Kinda funny: there's a girl that I thought wasn't interested in me and now she's going crazy that I've been giving her the 'faze out.' Ya know, slowly replying to txts to eventually not replying at all. She blatantly asked me if I had a girl today and wanted to know whats up. I'm trying to ignore her but she is using her girl powers against me.

I'm experiencing maybe one of the biggest nostalgia trips since ever.
Going through some old stuff. Heirlooms, childhood stuff, the works. Things my fam packed away for me
...And.. this [&@%!] tub.. full.. FULL OF TOYS. Stuff I actually still remember playing with
*ahem* WHY THE [&@%!] DO I HAVE SO MANY BIONICLES
BETTER QUESTION!!
HOW DO I STILL HAVE THEM!!!!

My boss called me shortly after I woke up, asking if I could come in to work 3 hours early today. I was sleepy so I panicked and couldn't think of a reason to say no.
So now I have to come in early.

So possibly by next week I'll have a new place. Been checking out homes like crazy for a while. Tomorrow got a potential showing for one of the top two places I've bidded for, while the other is a good set deal except 6 other people might want it

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
So erm..... recently, I've applied to the council for homeless/housing support and am hoping that they will get back to me next week. Got till 1st August then it's likely B&B living with whatever I can spare to eat out. By that, i mean just buying stuff that I don't need to cook. On the upside is that I discovered it is kinda better to just spend £20 to get 10GB of data. Got an additional 1GB as well!
Been watching plenty of videos as a result of it.
Oh and have english exam on Monday. IF I'm in a good mood and mentally prepared, I can pass it. If not, well, that's low on the list.
It does mean that my expediture may go down though. I'll still be around but yeah, that's it. Oh and got XCOM(the original, UFO, not the 2012 version) and downloaded Fallout Tactics from GOG.COM.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
One of my fav games of all time, the intro is great. I bought it as a kid and I still have the manual. Fun (annoying) fact: When the manual demonstrates attacking an alien it shows that if you're right next to it then you can 'bash' it, like a melee attack. But the option isn't in the game. Sooo annoying. Also the 'reload' audio changed. The original version sounded like a shotgun racking a round while the dloaded version sounds like a mouse click. The SheoDovah wrote:Oh and got XCOM(the original, UFO, not the 2012 version) and downloaded Fallout Tactics from GOG.COM.
Dammit now you got me thinking about that game. I'm gonna have to start playing again.

Fallout Tactics? Could never get into it - could do so for Fallout 1 & 2, but not Tactics for some reason

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Starting packing everything up today and I kinda have waaaay too many books, dvds. THe boxes I got are insufficent thus I have to grab more and if I've not heard back from the council by the end of today, I'm contacting them on Monday to find out what the bloody hell is going on. Then it's kicking out time on Wednesday and figuring out what to do with the stuff. If I can get it all into a B&B room and if it's a decent sized one, that work. If not, I may have to look into storage.
However, the plus side and this is me looking for it, admittly is that there's a high chance of me being less stressed because I'll be getting help(hopefully) and potentially have more cash in the budget. Downside is, likely to have to be frugal with the food budget, kettle access could be a bit of an improbality and I'll have to deal with the job centre. But, it would allow me to focus on job hunting fully again. Being helped(hopefully), can put together a housing plan and focus on job hunting fully is the plan forward. As long as I can use my laptop, I shall be ok.
If not, well, something, something makes Dovah goes insane.
Oh and did my English exam on Monday. I done [&@%!] it up! I screwed up the first task and it is likely because I couldn't get into the zone. Once i'm in the zone, I can do great things. Stupid brain.
So yeah, tis about it. Also, tis too bloody hot for England! Tis mostly straw where there should be grass! This... this is unnatural for us to have summer like this. I want my rain back! Gimme back the rain! Gimme!

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Dumb question: why do you have so many books? I used to buy books often but I decided to use the library and haven't had to buy one since. Sometimes a PITA but it saves money and I kinda like going there.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Personally I own way too many books (although I still do use the library a lot), because:leroybrown wrote:Dumb question: why do you have so many books? 1) When new books in series I like come out, I don’t want to wait for months to get it
2) Even if it’s not new, usually it’s either checked out, my library doesn’t have a copy so I have to wait for it to get sent, or both (and sometimes the alarm goes off for interlibrary books which I absolutely hate)
3) With the way I love to reread things repeatedly, it saves time and gas money for not having to go the library for each book in the series (though admittedly it’s not as bad living within easy walking distance of one now). And late fees, since I’m forgetful and also don’t always have time to get there when it’s open.
4) I don’t wanna be judged for the YA fantasy I like
5) I prefer the fresher smell of newer books, and they’re more clean
6) Aside from brand-new books, most of the stuff I get is extremely cheap, from used-book sales: libraries selling discards and donations, and the like. I usually spend no more than .50 to $1 on a book, and I get some free from work too.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Had to chase up the council yesterday and pretty much yelled at today by my mother for "doing nothing." Tomorrow, I am homeless. On the plus side, it means I have more cash. So yeah, either I hear back from the council today or I am gonna to have to deal with it tomorrow. I could rant about it and do a big post about what's gonna on but tis all tehre is.
Oh and got a BBQ to look forward to on saturday!
