Attributes

Strength: 100
Intelligence: 55
Willpower: 75
Agility: 100
Speed: 85
Endurance: 100
Personality: 50
Luck: 50

Doesn't he look terrific? Glass and Orcish really do go so well together, I'm quite pleased with how he looks right now. Not sure about a Helmet though, perhaps I'll give him an Adamantium one when I can upgrade to that armour.
Thing is, even with his stats he gets completely destroyed by Umbra at max difficulty... and I'm wielding a bloody Daedric Katana and even that isn't helping much. I need to train my armour and block skills up it would seem, at the moment hes more offencive then defencive.

Wow, that's some efficient leveling... My characters usually look much more random. How do you do efficient leveling without breaking the roleplaying immersion? That could get a bit awkward: "Oh, I'm sorry, I've just got my last needed Long Blade increase so I can't fight you anymore, I need to go jump up and down for a while now, bye." ;)
Rule #137: Always waste time when you don't have any.

I use trainers to give me the misc skill boosts, and just refrain from using them unless it's something my character would be using in the first place. Mark/recall are my best friends, if I'm half way through a dungeon and need to level up then I quickly lay down a mark, teleport out of there, and then quickly pay some trainers to give me the desired levels(this is why I hate the fact they took these spells out of Oblivion, efficient leveling in that game kills me because you can't just get straight back into the fray).
I don't normally efficient level, but I like doing it at the higher difficulties to give me that needed 'umpf'. I use to refuse training services, but casting the same spell over and over drove me nuts... to be honest my actual major/minor skills are not ridiculously high like you might think, and this counter balances the over-powering.

I find it very hard to become un-immersed in Morrowind, it holds my attention no matter what I'm doing. Like I said before, this guy can't take on Umbra yet without getting his backside handed to him in a couple of hits. So far everything has been very balanced, and so I am very VERY pleased with how this character has turned out.

EDIT: oh, and getting to many increases for one skill is no problem. I just train more in the skills that aid the other attributes... the only thing I fear is getting the dreaded 11/10 which is what even non-efficient levelers don't like.

Dean, I must say your character looks bloody amazing. I never thought to mix Orcish and Glass, but that just looks awesome!

Wish I had the expansions so I could run the graphics overhaul mods...

Thanks Believe, I took a little bit of inspiration from the Orismer warrior gal who walks around Suran but used more glass on my guy which I think blends very nicely into each other.

My graphics overhaul mods aren't actually 'top-notch' they are about 4-5 years old due to my hardware restrictions. I can't be sure if they even need the expansions, they just replace the textures already in game...
The main one is this: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/V ... il&id=2915 and I do believe, but don't hold me to it, that it only replaces the original game and not the expansions, I have other mods for those. So there is a possibility that you could make it look just as good.

Okay, I'm downloading that.

I'm level ten right now, and my plan is to concentrate on House Redoran and the main quest.

Just so you know it doesn't replace the armour and other equipment, those are done by other mods. I pick and choose from the following as a base when installing mods to a fresh install: http://btb2.free.fr/morrowind.html

I don't use all of them, I only go for the patches, mesh improvements, and the visual enhancers. MGE is to powerful for my old machine, I like the normal sky, and I can't stand mods that change the game to much... like the economy adjuster.

My new character is going to be a roleplay of Genghis Khan:
Name: Chinghis-Han
Race: Nord
Birthsign: The Steed
Class: Mongol Chieftain
Focus: Combat
Favored Attributes: Strength, Luck
Major Skills: Long Blade, Light Armor, Armorer, Marksman, Destruction
Minor Skills: Spear, Conjuration, Alchemy, Speechcraft, Heavy Armor

Goal: To prepare Vvardenfell for Mongol conquest.
1. Defeat the prospective competition, Dagoth Ur.
2. Drive the invasive Imperials from the island.
3. Undermine the slave trade to weaken the Dunmeri economy.
4. Challenge Vivec.
5. Intimidate or defeat any who may rally a defensive force when the horde attacks.
6. Claim all artifacts that may give the Dunmeri an edge.

The Mongols also used lances or halberds. But that's pretty good, I think. Although I think the Mongols prefer Light Armor.

Thanks, I didn't know they used spears! That's great, I think Spear is pretty underrated as a skill. I think I'll switch the armours around as well, although I'm playing vanilla with no expansions so the light armor's not all that great tbh.

The fact of heavy armor was made up for by the use of horses and maneuverability, but since you don't have horses in Morrowind, I think it's fine. It's a shame, also, that there aren't many very good spears in Morrowind.

There are loads of good spears: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Unique_Weapons#Spear the only reason they aren't overly enchanted is due to the reach on spears being nearly double that of other weapon types.

Then you have the artifact that is REALLY useful in tougher fights: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Weap ... cts#Spears

One last thing about armour... your best bet might be going medium. Mongols actually do wear armour in some accounts, and I think Orcish(best medium armour in vanilla) might fit the whole Mongol Eastern theme you are going for. More so then Glass, which is light armour and glows green.

OH! and welcome to the site HoscoFelix.

Thanks Dean! I didn't really want to go for medium, because I have a history of overusing it; although Orcish armor would look good. Meh, I can always train Medium up a little and mix and match, who knows?

I meant that the Spears seemed... under... something... can't place my finger on it.
Also yeah, the Spear of Bitter Mercy is nice, and Orcish really looks like a Mongol, in my point of view.
Also, I see the Mongol character is a magic user, as well. That could be interesting.

Yessir, Destruction for icy damage, Alchemy to live off the land and Conjuration for at least SOME backup soldiers. Chinghis-Han knows not to trust his enemies, sleep in their houses and eat their food. Speechcraft is for Intimidation; Chinghis-Han fights first with fear, then with weapons. Conjuration is also good for Turning Undead I think.

I see. I was under the impression that the Mongols did have shamans, and were influenced by a lot of religions, so I guess it does make sense, in a way. Also, the soldiers of the Mongol army carried their own food, so Alchemy also makes sense, at least sort of.

I rolled a new character today to celebrate getting back into Morrowind for real once again. The only problem is that I intended to take Armourer as a skill, but due to the whole swapping skills at char gen if you pick one that is already listed in the default class, I missed it and took Marksman instead. By the time I realised I was already in Balmora with a couple of quests under my belt so I let it slide.

Ralvas:
Race: Dunmer
Gender: Male
Favored attributes: Strength, Agility
Specialization: Magic
Major skills: Long Blade, Destruction, Mysticism, Block, Speechcraft
Minor skills: Blunt Weapon, Medium Armor, Restoration, Alchemy, Marksman
Birthsign: The Warrior

If I may ask, what kind of rp are you going for with him? What factions is he interested in, what are his goals etc. That's the most important aspect of a character for me, so I'm interested. It's kinda hard to pick up on from just stats.

Generally speaking, I have a clear picture in mind when I start a new character, but actually, with this one, I just wanted to play Morrowind, so I have no clear picture, per se. I was thinking of rebooting my Indoril roleplay character, but I decided against it. As such, I've joined the Fighters and Mages Guild, and plan on getting round to the Main Quest fairly promptly, and will join a Great House and possibly the Legion and either the Temple or the Imperial Cult, at later stages. I really want to do a lot with this character, so I'm trying not to limit him too much in regards to establishing too much of a character for him, unlike most of my others, although I'm sticking to a philosophy of, diplomacy as opposed to force, wherever possible.

.

My character “Zan” is a female Breton battle mage, holding a rank of Master-Wizard in the Mage’s Guild and Magister in the House Telvanni.

Image

She would actually hold the rank of leader of both orders except she elected (out of respect and humility) not to assassinate their current leaders.

Her favorite weapon is a bone-mold long bow, enchanted with shock damage, and Deadric arrows. Even though marksmanship is a secondary skill, she chose to master it first as a means of providing herself with the best ranged weapon possible, while still being able to wield a sword and use magica at the same time.

She basically just wears simple steel armor, with the 2 gauntlets Aryon gave her.

Zan is actually very understated and doesn’t go in for making a grand spectacle of herself and probably wouldn’t even wear a helmet, except to keep the rain off her head. She does however don a full set of glass armor in anticipation of very difficult battles.
Image
Most missions are accomplished with high level sneak or concealment, coupled with charm humanoid/creature, or command humanoid/creature spells.

Zan doesn’t like to kill anyone (except cliff racers) unless it is absolutely necessary, and even then in a lot of cases she will resurrect them, and apply heavy libations of charm/cure and gold to compensate them for their discomforts.

Zan doesn’t hoard everything she can get her hands on either. She only takes what is required for the quest, or sometimes items which are simply too beautiful or valuable to be abandoned languishing somewhere in a dank nasty cave. She places a much higher value on items that are given to her than anything that can be acquired through theft or murder, which is why she may not have the largest collection in the world, but I think she has one of the most astute collections. Zan believes that many objects are best left where they remain in situ, so that she will always know where they are and where they belong.
Image

She is also in the habit of leaving a gold coin on any fallen adventurer she finds along her path, as a sign of respect and brotherhood. I don’t know why but I suspect even the dead deserve an act of kindness.
Image
Her favorite weapons are an enchanted shock bonemold long bow,
enchanted shock Daedric Dai-Katana,
enchanted “Wizard Slayer” a staff which delivers a first attack of “Silence” with a second attack of “Paralyze”. (devastating),
regular Daedric battle axe (at least one non-enchanted weapon so a reverse “reflect magic” spell wont kick her own ass).

Her favorite character is Aryon her mentor and Telvanni patron who taught her a lot, and gave her a bunch of really cool gifts.

Her favorite place is the Roobrush falls.
ImageImage
Her favorite house is the Telvanni because they are so eclectic and organic, unlike Imperial architecture which is cold, rigid and square, Telvanni design blends in with their surroundings and seems to emanate naturally from the land. Although she does not agree with their tolerance of slavery, she is a secret abolitionist in their midst and has freed many slaves with the gauntlets to prove it. Zan keeps two lanterns outside her door in Balmora.

She also rescued Uryne from the house across the street and who now lives with her as a maid and companion.

Her girlfriend is Marelle whom she stole from a house in Suran. Marelle likes to do skooma and dance all night while Zan sits on the bed naked playing the bongos.
Image
She brought the Spark Centurion home that Baladas gave her, but Ondres wouldn’t have it in the house, so she keeps it outside. The kids like to play on it and sometimes ride it to school.
Image
Life is good in Morrowind.

Greetings everybody!

My hunter cartographer-wannabe ('unlock all the map!') character just reached 54th level. With around 30% of the map discovered. Which is bad cause he obviously is overpowered even at 100 difficulty. So I decided to restart. If anybody will ever unlock whole map with one char the world will propably end.

So I needed to decide about new one - to do something different, blablabla. I tend to play mages or stealth-mages, sneak attacks, jinkblades, combining archery with conjuration. I love conjuration in Morrowind. I didn't use it at all at the beginning though. Illumination came after years of playing, when four skeleton heroes suddenly smashed my character somewhere in Mournhold. But yeah, that one is not an option this time.

My idea is to try to RP the most curious character that I ever had. The first one. The most clumsy one. And the slowest one - that one will hurt. Years ago I left him at 39th level, with 7 reputation points, on his way to encounter Dagoth Gares. I treasure the save file.

Maybe not the worst possible combination, but Altmer Bard isn't a character that would be suggested for first time players, aye? 'OMG, Shadow birthsign, 60 sec invisibility, sooo cool!'

Mikutrandiel:
Male High Elf
Birthsign: Shadow
Specialization: Stealth
Favored attributes: Intelligence, Personality
Major skills: Block (30), Long Blade (30), Alchemy (40), Acrobatics (35), Speechcraft (35)
Minor skills: Medium Armor (15), Enchant (25), Illusion (20), Mercantile (20), Security (20)

So here he is. An incarnation. No spells at all. Frightening 30 points in long blade. Running away from everything bigger than kwama. Not that kwamas aren't dangerous - they can kill him in three hits even though he just bought Nordic Ringmail Cuirass. Need to practice more on mudcrabs. Alchemy as highest skill - useless at the moment, cause he can't even afford mortar and pestle. Sad Mikutrandiel is sad. 'To Oblivion with you, Arrille, these cuirass are useless anyways! No! I don't plan to die while hunting some stupid smugglers! Gimme some drink!'

The idea for him is obviously - traveling. Most of the time by foot. He'll try to avoid tough fights until he'll feel more confident with his blade. As he believes that sending him to Morrowind was some stupid mistake, he'll avoid meeting Caius until he'll get more familiar with Vvardenfell problems. He's not bad guy after all, though he'll start his adventure by traveling to Ebonheart, thinking that maybe there is a way to go back to mainland from there. He'll find a shelter in Imperial Cult for a while, but will also join the Temple later on. He is a bard, he needs to learn about the world he lives in. And there is no better way to do that than learning what Dunmers believe in. He won't progress to fast with these factions - he simply lacks proper skills. He'll rather involve himself in every possible misc quest. Find a hideout near a town, explore neighborhood for month or two, drink with locals, collect stories and rumors, leave everything behind and go to another place.

I'd like to explore West Gash, Azura's Coast, northern Ashlands and western Sheogorad with him. Fighters Guild seems to be good option.

Name: Ragnar Skolde
Race: Nord
Birthsign: The Lady
Class: Dragoon
Focus: Combat
Favored Attributes: Strength, Endurance
Major Skills: Long Blade, Restoration, Conjuration, Mysticism, Alteration
Minor Skills: Illusion, Enchant, Marksman, Hand-to-Hand, Axe

I'm trying to tie together the protagonists from all TES games, if only loosely, and now I've reached the third one. I've just started out and I figured this one would be the black sheep of the family. I played a similar character in Daggerfall and I imagine he is Ragnar's father who went missing in action. Fatherless at a young age, Ragnar slipped into crime and depravity. Trying to renounce his family name, his lineage still managed to save him from execution and he was imprisoned instead. Now he's been sent to faraway Vvardenfell to rekindle his trust in the imperial cause. His status as a Dragoon grants him a devotion to Akatosh and the Septim bloodline, as well as a talent for both martial and magical abillities. He's an honorable man, but not above using tricks to defeat his foes.

Planned factions to join: Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, any faction loyal to the Empire (and not too shady)

My new character is a Dunmer archeologist called Tuvenye Arano, born under the sign of Atronach, which influenced her choices in life. Because of her inability to regenerate Magicka, she had to learn to suplement her magic with other skills - she's learned to pick locks, hide in the shadows, brew potions, use enchanted items and hunt with a bow. She also focused her magical studies on areas that can be combined with those skills (like Conjuration and Mysticism), as well as those that help her in exploring forgotten tombs and temples (like Alteration and Illusion). Because of her choices, she hasn't been accepted by the "pure" mages of the local Mages Guild. She now looks with contempt at the theoreticians in frilly robes who never leave their laboratories and spend all their times buried in old tomes. In order to clearly show that she doesn't consider herself one of them, Tuve never wears traditional mage's robes (besides, they're extremely impractical in the field). She fights with a bow and a dagger (uses bound items for tougher enemies) and doesn't wear armour, except for a pair of sturdy chitin boots that are suitable for long treks across the countryside and a cloth bracer that protects her left forearm when she fires her bow.

Tuve wants to learn everything she can about the ancient history of Tamriel and she's decided that the best way to do that is to rely on her own experiences, instead of ancient writings. That's why she wants to explore as many of those places as possible and she never passes the opportunity to enter a forgotten tomb or ruin. She's not interested in caves, mines and bandit hideouts though and unless she has some other goal there, she won't try to enter. She's also not a treasure hunter and often leaves the explored site untouched. She can easily support herself using her skills as an Alchemist and doesn't need to sell old jewels and relics to do that. The only items she will remove from the sites she explores are those brought by people other than original builders, like offerings in the ancestral tombs or weapons of some dead adventurer (but only if she needs them), or unique ancient artifacts that need to be studied and preserved.

She has heard about the great Telvanni scholar, Master Aryon, and his famous museum and library. That's why she wants to join House Telvanni and convince him to become her patron. She is not interested in politics and doesn't want to lead House Telvanni, she just wants to use its resources and knowledge in her own studies. She is also extremely curious about mainland Morrowind, especially the part controlled by House Telvanni, which is one more reason to join that faction.

Tuvenye is not a thief, but she is going to join the Thieves Guild. She won't steal from regular people and is not interested in riches, but her search for knowledge sometimes leads her to dusty libraries more interested in preserving ancient books than actually reading them and to vain lords who hang priceless artifacts on their walls like trophies. So while she won't rob a merchant's storeroom, she won't hesitate before stealing enchanted jewels from a spoiled lordling who doesn't understand their origins, history and true value. Besides, exploring buried ruins requires many of the same skills as burglary, so the members of Thieves Guild can be a valuable source of equipement and training for her.

She has just explored a place called Andrano Ancestral Tomb, where she found a very interesting dagger and a skull that looks like it had been used in some kind of necromantic rituals. Next stop - Balmora Thieves Guild. :)

Morrowind is my first Elder Scrolls game. I tried out a couple different character builds before I decided on this guy and I really like where I'm at. I have him set up so I can get maximum skill gains combined with my minor skills Block (24), Armorer (26), Medium Armor (35), Athletics (21), Restoration (32), Alchemy (34), Unarmored (31) & Mercantile (22). My two favourites are Mysticism for the absorbs and Alteration for the supreme usefulness.

I've joined Mages Guild, Fighters Guild, Thieves Guild, Imperial Cult, Temple and House Hlaalu. Fighters Guild and Thieves Guild are not getting along so I'll probably drop Fighters, and Temple is just for the cheaper shrines. Question: If I get myself expelled from a guild does it leave my character sheet like I'm not a member anymore?

I'm playing with mods for game balance, mostly economy ones that I got from BTB's page. At first I enabled all of them and the game went from la la la OP enchants & $$$ potions to... AHHH I'm broke, dead & dying in hardcore grindfest torture mode!!... so I had to tone it back a bit. : P

Anyways, been reading the forums and using the wiki (I try not to spoil things for myself, I really do) and I figured I join up and say hi.
