Another thing I hate about Skyrim: WHAT IN OBLIVION HAPPENED TO MY STUFF (Pre-game)?! You can't expect me to believe that my character either A) came to Skyrim with nothing or B) That the Imperials left all my stuff on the side of the road for bandits to take.

I actually see this as quite possible. They are transporting Ulfric Stormcloak and his personal guard, they don't need your stuff taking up any extra space on one of the carts.LordAshton wrote:B) That the Imperials left all my stuff on the side of the road for bandits to take.

They should have had an extra cart then. They let the Stormcloaks keep their armor, why can't we keep ours, unless we were already a prisoner when we came to Skyrim.philfredobob wrote:I actually see this as quite possible. Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
See, the armour/clothing question is a semi-reasonable one. Whatever clothes our character was wearing probably would have stayed on them (if they weren't expensive). But gold, jewellery, food, all of that sort of stuff would most likely be removed by soldiers, for personal profit or otherwise.LordAshton wrote:They should have had an extra cart then. But I'm not seeing the problem with the cart. I think that if they have the option between bringing an extra cart, and chucking your stuff along with whatever other useless equipment was there in order to have more space, I can see them going for the second option.

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
Lets look at this logically. Now does it make sense for us to be executed simply for being caught at the border? Why did they not just turn us away? OR simply let us go if we were not a threat to Skyrim/The Empire? We had to be a prisoner sent to Skyrim to be dealt with, it is the only way this mess makes sense.philfredobob wrote: See, the armour/clothing question is a semi-reasonable one. What you are saying explains your own original problem for you: If you are already a prisoner, you won't have any equipment. So either way, there's a reasonable explanation available for your lack of equipment.LordAshton wrote:Lets look at this logically. I'm not going to comment on the rest of it because it is irrelevant and off topic.

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
We were told we were caught crossing the border, that is the problem. IF we were already a prisoner, we would not have been caught crossing the border, as the imperials would have been waiting for us.philfredobob wrote:What you are saying explains your own original problem for you: If you are already a prisoner, you won't have any equipment. I'm not talking about whether or not you actually being on the cart makes sense. This is what I'm replying to:

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
Because the Stormcloaks wearing their armour when they're executed makes for a better example than if they were in rags - it's not just about executing a bunch of prisoners, it's about showing the end of the Stormcloak Rebellion publicly.LordAshton wrote:They should have had an extra cart then. And besides, would you get an extra cart just to haul someone's stuff whose going to be executed anyway? It's just a waste of time and resources to do that. The surprising thing is our character actually getting as far as Helgen at all, given you've crossed the border straight into an ambush in the first place.

Ask the Northern Irish about crossing borders and executions.

Yeah. The somewhat heavy handed approach at Border Crossings is standard throughout history, let alone when you've blundered into an ambush as the PC did...

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
That is still not making sense. Why would the Empire ask our character, or demand him/her, to remove our equipment just to leave it by the side of the road. Wouldn't it make more sense to have some me in charge of confiscating gear, and be consistent in the practice (Such as us keeping our gear or making most of the stormcloaks remove theirs)?CBR JGWRR wrote:Yeah. An ambush means nothing when the start makes absolutely no sense. Plus the whole imperial ambush thing is not an argument when the map and another person prove it wrong (seriously, Darkwater Crossing is nowhere near the border of Cyrodiil, where the LDB was "captured").

Do you mean topography? because id definitely second that! I spend more time in skyrim trying in vain to hop over terrain that the average child could traverse with ease that my dragonborn seems incapable of scaling than doing anything else.Finn Wolfshorn wrote:Yes. Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
Because you got captured, and the Imperials don't want, or have, to waste time being nice with possessions. They're in enemy territory, and a Stormcloak rescue effort could arrive at any time. The PC is lucky the Imperials didn't kill him/her outright to start with.LordAshton wrote:That is still not making sense. And you're missing the point of the Stormcloaks being used as an example, both of the end of the Rebellion and as a warning against future dissent. This isn't about fairness to some random, in the wrong place at the wrong time, it's about ensuring the Rebellion stops.

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
As I have said before, they could have turned us from the border, if we were really at the border. Unless we were a prisoner sent to Skyrim to be dealt with, there was no reason for them to have us executed and remove our equipment and leave where it was left.CBR JGWRR wrote:Because you got captured, and the Imperials don't want, or have, to waste time being nice with possessions. Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
So to clarify, you want a dedicated ambush troop, led by General Tullius himself, which is solely focused on capturing Ulfric Stormcloak to handle some random prisoner, while deep in enemy territory.
That's just not going to happen.

Re: What makes you mad in Skyrim?
No, I just want to know why the story did not at all add up, and where my character's equipment went, or if I was actually sent there as a prisoner to be dealt with, because the whole start of the game is stupid. You do not simply execute a man/woman, who is visually not a stormcloak, or force them to remove their armor then execute them.CBR JGWRR wrote:So to clarify, you want a dedicated ambush troop, led by General Tullius himself, which is solely focused on capturing Ulfric Stormcloak to handle some random prisoner, while deep in enemy territory.

FFS the intro isn't supposed to make that much sense, ever since morrowind your PC has started off as a prisoner and the reason for imprisonment is never stated or hinted at or explained.
Your looking for an explanation where there isn't meant to be one.

But in Skyrim, they give somewhat of a reason. You were "Arrested" trying to cross the border into the province, as is stated in the game. That makes no sense if you caught in the imperial Ambush that was nowhere near the border, and then forced to strip down to near-nothing and given Prisoner garb, when you weren't anywhere close to a stormcloak.

Maybe the DB was put there by the gods, after all hadvar notes that you're not on the list.... and the PC has a habit of being right were they should be at the start of an elder scrolls game.... My suspension of Disbelief was gone when I saw that the Rebels were allowed to keep their gear, but some random from nowhere got caught at the border and forced to leave all his/her gear behind because they were not important enough to keep the stuff.Raynil dralas wrote:Maybe the DB was put there by the gods, after all hadvar notes that you're not on the list.... and the PC has a habit of being right were they should be at the start of an elder scrolls game....
