Re: Oblivion General Discussion
How did you purchase Your copy? If it was the Elder Scrolls Anthology, you'll have Oblivion + Shivering Isles + KoTN. If you purchased the Game of the Year edition on Steam, you have everything (including Fighter's Stronghold).

I dunno what version I have. I got it for PC (GOTYE). No steam (I hate steam [steam->FacBook->feds->pedobear imo]) Would it say any where on the box what version it is?
But as it turns out, after an annoyingly long climb to reach Gnoll Mtn, I don't have. Can i get the plug-ins for free?

I bought Oblivion: GOTY twice. First, on the PS3, then the deluxe edition on steam. I only play it on the pc now, mods made sure of that.

Does the Auto-Attempt feature for lock picking still provide Security experience? And if so, is it some how stunted? I only ask because such a convenient method only seems fitted to have a nerf attached to it.

Re: Oblivion General Discussion
Does the Oblivion section have a screen shot thread? I thought every game sub-section had one, but I don't immediately see one here for Oblivion. Would some one please point me in the right direction? I've got about 20 or so to upload!

So I went into Cheydinhal and went up to the count and noticed that the other throne had a boquet of flowers on it. I didn't realize that his wife had died, or rather i knew but i didn't connect that. its so sad. AND WE STEAL HER BUST! He must be so depressed. Also, the wiki page doesn't mention the flowers, when i think it should.

Re: Oblivion General Discussion
Nice thing about that is the bust is returned after the quest is finished. Speaking of said quest: if you didn't notice before, when you were first given the order to steal the bust, the spy was listening in on you and Armand.

Re: Oblivion General Discussion
I never noticed the spy in person, but I do remember reading about it. On another note, in the Imperial City, Hamlof Red-Tooth owns the store Red Diamond Jewelry. His key on the other hand, the bit and bridle key, seems like it should open a stable. On the talk page I asked if it was what he was originally supposed to do ( sell horses ) in the construction set or something and they deleted it, saying it was already discussed on the page. If they discussed the oddness of the keys name then I completely missed it.

Re: Oblivion General Discussion
Denizens of the wiki are somewhat of a cloistered lot with their own sense of black and white. If you try to add a little color into the wiki, someone will always want to pull the tone of the article back to clinical, sterile information. I swear, there are those who'd be happy if the information in the wiki was little more than charts and numbers.
I sought refuge in these forums, all those many years ago, because of that. Still a bit miffed that they refuse to mention that Aureal, Mazken and Order weapons should be considered 'Daedric' weapons. All because the designers forgot to apply the flag to a few low-level versions. It's black or white for them: if the numbers don't fit, then you can't explain it away with some fancy words.

Re: Oblivion General Discussion
Exactly! On another odd note, would you say that the wiki mentions that ghost undead/ethereal undead absorb arrows shot at them. I seem to remember reading that in the wiki, and it is incorrect. After clearing out Sancre Tor and shooting dozens of ghosts, I've always been able to retrieve the arrows. They move right through them. They are silver, though, so that may make a difference.

Re: Oblivion General Discussion
In lieu of a new thread. I figured my question fits within this existing one.
I've been inquiring on the chat about how many of you still play Oblivion. So far I confirmed only a few.
So I guess I might get more coverage here. I myself have just returned to Oblivion after a 2 month absence.
To those who still play I have some questions. (What else is new
)
What is your main race?
How old is your character? (weeks months days etc)
What level is your strongest character?
What are your daily tasks/activities when you play the game?
Which is your preference: Combat, Magic, or Stealth?
Hmm, quite the questionnaire. I hope I get some answers soon.

Re: Oblivion General Discussion
---What is your main race?
Nord -- I like the high Endurance, frost resistance, Wode and Nordic frost for survivability early in the game Because of the high strength, Nord is an easy race to build using my custom class. I can boost Endurance, Willpower, and Intelligence every level for a long time and still be able to carry loot. With a weakling Breton, I have to build both Strength and Willpower at the same time early in the game, and both are fighting skills so I have to do twice as much fighting per level. In doing so, my Alchemy/Intelligence suffers.
Coupled with Mage or Atronach Birthsign, a Nord makes a heck of a war mage.
---How old is your character? (weeks months days etc)
??? Right now I have several games on the books.
---What level is your strongest character?
Level 54--The character can't go farther without going to jail. The quests were over in the 30s, but I maxed out my levels to test weapons and hunt the big monsters (goblin warlords with >1500 hit points, etc.)
---What are your daily tasks/activities when you play the game?
Depends on the class.
Archer class:
My Bosmer (now at level 8-9) wakes up, fixes stuff for 5 pts of Armorer points (major skill). Puts on heavy armor and finds some goblins or rats to get 5 pts minor skill Block + Heavy armor (=+5 Endurance done with). She takes off the armor and then makes potions or casts bound dagger for 10 points (+5 Intelligence done with). She then finds a Security Trainer for 4 pts (1 pt will be earned in game play). With all of that out of the way, she goes out in the world with a bow wearing enchanted clothing for protection (+9 Fire shield, Frost shield, and Shock shield enchantments, + ring of Aegis) until her Marksmanship and Sneak (major skills) accumulate the last 5 pts for +5 Agility--When they add up to 5 it's time to sleep again. It is an easy way to get 5-5-5 without keeping track of points with paper and pencil.
Custom class: Wake up and record my skill points for the new level, mark the attributes I want to work on, save game and then go out into the world. At the end of the day (when I have all my points in minor skils for 5-5-5) I will 'practice' major skills until I have enough to go to sleep again for the next level.
Benerus manor is good for building archery, destruction, blade, hand to hand, blunt, and sneak, so I usually go there at least once per level. Plus, ectoplasm is good for making poisons.
Which is your preference: Combat, Magic, or Stealth?
--The extra skill points you get for a Specialization don't make a difference unless you are playing a standard class and have a game plan that will benefit in some way during early levels (that I can tell). What is important to me is that the skills in the specialization build faster, so I choose Combat. These are the very important Endurance and Strength skills. Combat skills are difficult and dangerous to build, so faster/less hits is better. It is easy to tap buttons to build magic skills (Intelligence and Willpower), and I have never needed stealth skills above the others (the Jone spell is a good substitute.)

Really. Only one. I had hoped that the ragtag bunch of misfits who still play the game (myself included
) would want to band together here at this topic and tell a bit about themselves etc. The oblivion forum is pretty dead. Only you can bring it back to life. :3

Re: Oblivion General Discussion
These days I pop into Cyrodiil once or twice a month. I've been sucked into ESO and on top of that I'm still working on my first runthrough of Skyrim, too. And Morrowind, and Dragon Age, and many others. I'm a notoriously slow gamer.
What is your main race? It's a bit of a tradition for me to start with a Dunmer, and I've only got the one character
How old is your character? (weeks months days etc) I can't remember. She's my only character so far.
What level is your strongest character? Mid 40s
What are your daily tasks/activities when you play the game? Pick a quest I haven't finished yet from the list and go to it. I'm almost done but I still have one or two quest chains to do.
Which is your preference: Combat, Magic, or Stealth? I play a spellsword, so it's a mix between combat and magic. I'd like to try a stealth-based character someday but I have too many other unfinished games to work on.

I was thinking. There is a Light Spell in Illusion. Would it not be cool if there was a Darkness spell, too? Like you could sneak better.

I have a spell like that in a story I wrote--it absorbs light like a black cloud. It works at night so you stay in shadow when men with torches go past, but it doesn't work very well with dogs tracking you. Chameleon is the game's answer--a one way mirror effect.

Incidentally. Should light not be in alteration? It is after all an alteration of the surrounding light of the target/caster.

My custom-made Invisibility spell is combined with Nighteye, the storytelling reason behind it is that it absorbs all incoming light and then you use that captured light to perceive whatever lies in darkness.

Re: Oblivion General Discussion
(Posting this here. Because it seemed more effective to use an existing thread. If someone objects. I'll ask the mods to move/delete it.)
I am about to make a new character that believes that money must be earned honorably. No theft, no shady means of obtaining goods for sale.
There are 2 locations in Oblivion that possess value relative to this subject.
1: Bravil Skooma Den.
2: DB hideout with barrel of poisoned apples.
To what extent is casting an open a very hard lock spell and taking the apples fair or unfair, roleplaywise? They can be sold to vendors implying they are not tagged as stolen/red hand.
To what extent is frenzying the skooma addicts to get them to kill each other so I can take the skooma and sell it fair or unfair roleplaywise? XD I assume both are too shady to fit with the character's intentions. What does the forum have to say?
And would anyone roleplaying as a mostly good character use frenzy instead of "actually murdering" the npc and causing Lucien to appear later? (when an npc annoys you or has something you need)
