"My father was just killed." Ashriel mumbled. "My father was just killed. My father. Was just. Killed!" He shook his head angrily. "I swear to the old god," As Barvel referred to the deity he'd read about, "The IRC has made a mistake today. I will take my revenge, and I will not stop until either we are free or I am dead." He said to himself, loud enough for everyone to hear.

He then looked up, surprised that his voice must of carried. "Oh, never mind. You weren't supposed to hear that."

Aarys smiled blithely. "Great start to a day, eh, Eru?" She laughed, then rested her head in her hands. She nervously tapped her foot.

"I'm sorry about...you know...your loss." Valentin said to Ashriel. "But don't do anything stupid. We've all lost loved ones to the ICA. We all know how you feel. This world's been through enough. This has to end...and it has to end soon."

Valentin grinned at Aarys as she tapped her foot. As saddening as this moment was, her nervousness almost added a form of comedy to the situation. "You alright there?" he asked her.
"Uhh...Shut up, Beavis!"

"The way you, stood up to those men. It was inspiring..."
Raul said slowly.
Wiping the blood from his face while staring at Ashriel.
"What is your name?" He asked.

"Inspiring? Uh, no. I'm just a kid, I think. The name's Ashriel. Some people call me Ash." Ashriel answered.

"I have never seen anyone do anything like that before."
He then spat out some blood next to where he was sitting.
"I haven't even seen men, stick up to the shards like that.
That was inspiring Ashriel." He stated boldly.

Lae shook her head, knocking some of her messy hair out of her eyes. She slumped against the bench, gloomily closing her eyes and sighing internally. The elf crossed and uncrossed her legs a few times in attempt to get comfortable. Their situation, it seemed, hadn't really dampered her rather distracted nature. She parted her lips a few times, as if to inject a biting remark, but simply kept her silence. One eye opened to warily watch the others, flicking uninterestedly between them.

"No... I really don't think I'm inspiring. I was in shock, that was all... yeah, it must have been shock. Thanks, but I'm no better than any of you." Ashriel said.

"I have seen the shard take lives for less than what you've done."
Raul then spat some more blood, and looked around at the others, to see how they were doing, they looked in better shape than him, and that was good.
Looking back at ashriel, he said in a serious tone.
"You are very fortunate, to get away with what you have done."
He then crossed his legs and began to look at the floor while rubbing his sore mouth.

The streets were filled with horror. Outside, a young Drow couple screamed as two ICA soldiers attempted to put them apart. Eventually, the soldiers were able to separate them. Just seconds later, the man pushed his way out of the Shard's grasp and ran towards his lover. But just before he was able to reach her, he was shot in the head. The woman shrieked loudly as the man's lifeless corpse hit the ground.

On the other side of the street, two Shards tied a Human woman to a pole and each threw Molotov cocktails at her feet. They exploded beneath the innocent women, slowly burning her to death as she desperately cried for help.

Just a few yards away, five Shards mercilessly slashed a Sun Elf man to death with knives. They then left his bloodied, mutilated body on the sidewalk for others to see.

Sights like these were everywhere in Empire City. And the concentration camps were even worse. 100 years ago, over 874,000,000 mortals walked the earth. Now, there was less than 3,000,000.

Ashriel shrugged. "They obviously want us alive for some reason, or else I'd be dead. We'll probably be some sort of experiment in the... place."

Ashriel looked out the window. "It's a harsh world out there." He smiled and laughed softly. "I should have brought more wire traps."

"Wire traps?" Laeriel inquired lazily, keeping her eyes closed. She shrugged her shoulders in order to snug her furs more tightly about her, for comfort.

Raul's expression didn't change.
"I'm used to it. And I feel blessed to be removed from that apartment."
He said, his mouth stopped bleeding, so he spat one final time, he took a few long breaths and then looked straight ahead of himself blankly."

"I haven't," offered the Frost Elf. Both eyes flickered back open and she shifted to stare at the ground, ears twitching moodily. She wasn't quite claustrophobic, but the combination of rising worry and the moving vehicle were making her feel rather queasy.

Hremai had been sitting silently, supporting her head in her hands and staring down at her feet.

"This is ridiculous. At least this means we'll probably be spared of the agony of this world."

"I'm just excited to have something different for a change."
He said while looking at his blood on the floor.
"I have been living life on a loop since I could walk. I've been doing the some routine. Work, eat, sleep, repeat.
At this point, I don't care if it ends, get's better, or get's worse.....I just want my life to change."
He then rubbed his eyes and leaned his head against the wall, he was still exausted, and getting beat up all morning didn't make things better.

"So it'll be nice to be slave labored somewhere else, then? The same things are going to happen, just somewhere different! If we'r lucky they'll just kill us when we get there!" Hremai said to Raul, shaking her head. "DO you really want to be tortured every single minute of the rest of your life rather than toddling around back in the City, or die?"

Lithnilillin shook his head at the sights presented to him in the streets of Empire City. His usual neutral expression was hard to keep in times like these.
"A great way indeed..." he replied to Aarys. "What is your take on our sudden transportation?"

Peter noted that Raul was rather optimistic despite both his beating and the group's bleak situation. Perhaps he was delusional?

"Are you sure that you're alright?" He asked bluntly.

"You know if we are really, really lucky the shards will all die on the spot when we get there." Gladro finally joined in after sitting back with his eyes closed for in a vain attempt at sleep. "Ash, I'm sorry about your father but he died loving you, more than I can say about mine." Gladro looked very sad reminiscing about his father. "But you have the right idea if we can't stop the ICA we should at least try to make life worse for them." Gladro sounded desperate at this point for anyway out of the hell he woke up in each day.

The convoy slowly headed through the gigiantic city. Death and destruction was everywhere. Hundreds of thousands of Shards marched through the streets. Airplanes flew over the skies dropping bombs on certain buildings in the distant corners of the city. Tanks rolled about the larger streets, accompanied by platoons of ICA soldiers.

Finally, the convoy reach the fortified main exit of the city. The main exit consisted of five extremely well-defended gates. These gates were the only way out of Empire City, as a gigantic stone wall had been built all the way around the metropolis in order to prevent the escaping of civilians. Slowly, one by one, each of the gates opened and allowed the convoy to pass through. But once it had passed, the gates instantly closed again.

The convoy was now out of the city and heading through the small occupied neighborhoods just outside the gates. Once the convoy had passed through the neighborhoods, its made its way down a small dirt road that led through the center of a large mountain valley. The sounds of nature filled the air. Chirping birds flew past the armored car. Small herds of deer could be seen grazing in the green fields of grass on each side of the road. And the large mountains that complimented the valley were beautiful. This was proof that nature was recovering from the damage that had been done to it by the Immortal Commission.

Raul turned his head and looked at Peter. With his unusually calm eyes. "Yes, i'm very sure."
He faced Hremal again, making eye contact. "Well. it's a change right?" He then got up and looked outside for a brief moment. Upon turning around he had a small grin on his face.
"Look outside will you?" Raul's voice was rising, and his eyes were getting bigger. "I have never seen anything like this, in my entire life!" He exclaimed, in an unusually loud fasion.
"Those [&@%!] driving have killed my brother, and since then I have never had anybody. But look now?!"
Raul was starting to yell.
"I am with all of you!" He looked at every one of their faces with that tiny, crazy smile. "I'm not alone for once, working, getting my ribs cracked by one of those cursed shards!"
He then realized how worked up he was getting, blinking several times. Raul let out a fake cough, he sat back down and began to shift around in his seat, lowering his head to face the floor.
His eyes were tearing up, so he quickly rubbed them dry.
