They tried to use Lorkhan's heart and they disappeared from Mundus. It is unknown if they were killed or currently exist in another realm.

I was thinking last night, what is the name of each race's original native language?

Yes, the souls if the dwemer forming a divine skin on numidium is one theory of what happened. Now whether they formed this divine skin previously to their dissaperance is another question.

Yes, basically. Arniel Gane's quest in Skyrim basically confirms what happened.

Of course, the exact hows and whys of what happened to them are the real mystery. We know what happened but not precisely how it all worked. When Dagoth Ur and the Tribunal manipulated the Heart and Tools, the thing that happened to them was very different indeed. What I'm most interested in is learning why.

edit: Perhaps Kagranac's goal and methods simply differed, and he got exactly what he wanted. Or perhaps the Tonal Architect made a mistake.

I think the answer is just tonal architecture. That's really the consensus answer I got at the Beth Lore forums when I asked the same thing. They struck the heart with the tools in different ways. Dwemer achieved subgradience, the Tribunal/Dagoth Ur basically did the opposite, in a way.

The way I read it, he was some sort of champion or general who got promoted in a desperate time once the Humans began uprising and killing off other Ayleid leaders. He ruled White Gold Tower, but I'm not sure if the Ayleid Empire was as centralized as the later human ones. We don't know for sure if Cyrodiil under the Elves had one central ruler. We have several sources mentioning various small States within the borders of current Cyrodiil, each inhabited by related but slightly different Ayleid tribes.

Velothi wrote:Question.

Other than the Crowns being a Nationalist-Independence movement during the Civil War for Hammerfell (And later the Imperial Acquisition of Hammerfell), what really were they? Obviously by their title they are aristocrats, but is that really it? That they were the old rulers of Yokuda?

And what of the forebears? Who, like House Hlaalu, became Imperial-collaborators and decided to openly go against the Crowns to try and take the Throne. ll I've seen is that they were the warriors who conquered Hammerfell, but (once again) is that it? How did they transform from Warrior-caste, to Imperial collaborators, to Merchants who controlled much of the nation?
The Crowns are traditionalist-monarchists. They are supposedly descended from the aristocracy of Yokuda, and largely arrived after the 'Warrior Wave' built a foothold on the continent of Tamriel. They strive to preserve the old ways of Yokuda, the sacred ways of their ancestors, and are xenophobic towards the profane ways of the East; the ways of Tamriel. They also feel they have a certain right to rule - being the descendants of the ruling class of Yokuda.

The Forebears are liberal-republicans. They're upstarts: the Forebears gained a great degree of wealth and power of their own by composing the first waves as settlers. They feel they've earned the right to rule the land they conquered, and not pay homage to the traditional aristocracy who hoped to piggyback on their success. While probably far from democratic, they are opposed to the idea of a High King, likely preferring a loosely joined confederacy of sorts and rule by a merchant-warrior oligarchy, although this is mostly speculation on my part. In general, the Forebears embraced the ways of the New World, and have adopted Tamrielic traditions whole-heartedly. They have prospered as traders and merchant lords for this very reason. The Crowns, in contrast, tend towards insularity and isolationism; not qualities that encourage trade with the outside world.

Something I hadn't thought to ask before now:

Do we have any indication of whether Akavir was attacked by Dagon during the Oblivion Crisis? I would assume so, since the goal was apparently to claim the whole of Mundus. Or was it mostly a personal grudge against the Septims?

The people of Tamriel are inordinately concerned with Tamriel. Tamriel is the center of the Aurbis to them, and they just don't think on a world scale. I doubt the Daedra Lord of Ambition would have such a limited view. It would also fit his nature to bite off more than he could chew. A simultaneous assault on all of Nirn would help explain how the assault we saw in Cyrodiil seemed so pathetic.

All the sources speak in terms of Tamriel. The Amulet of Kings, Mankar Camoran, etc. But I attribute this to the people of Tamriel loving the smell of their own farts.

I suspect Dagon attacked all of nirn but his forces were destroyed by Akaviri due to it being Akaviri. But it could be possible he could only open gates to the deadlands in Tamriel due to the walls still being strong enough to weaken his invasion before they collapsed at the peak of the crisis thus allowing him to enter Mundus.

Well tamriel at the time had no living god to challenge him, previously their was the tribunal, dagoth ur, and talos walking tamriel at one time. So akaviri could have very well had some living gods living their that Dagon would want to avoid.

With the Ka Po'Tun's ruler, Tosh Raka, being rumoredly a divine being by becoming a dragon, the Tsaesci being considered the faction formerly superior to the Ka Po'Tun but now near equal in power, and the Kamal General Ada'Soom Dir-Kamal requiring both Almalexia and the Underking to rout him and his army, Akavir seems pretty well protected.
