Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
Perhaps it could be neither, I mean he started out as a warlord didn't he? Not a general in the Legion to my knowledge. I always imagined them being more unofficial then the Legion, like marauders or something, at least to begin with, before he became a "king in Cyrodiil".

He became a king in Colovia, actually.
Whatever that means. The official leader of a county is a Count, but they used to be called Kings or Earls a long time ago.
Of course, if Cyrodill had split into two, then the leader in the west could have been a King while Thules acted as Emperor.
We could say he unified the western counties and won popular support as King of Colovia.
Depending on how early in his career we started he'd be dressed like a mercenary, or later a Legionaire general.
It was said he took the city with less than 1000 troops, which means either his troops were very well trained or the Legions supported him over Thules. I'd say it was some of both.
Maybe Eddar Olin was a Legion general whose personal Legions were the few who opposed the new order. I think by the time Mede marches on the Imperial City, his men are in Legion uniforms however. The ones from Skyrim, not the clunky knight armor from Oblivion.
Why? Because that's the new Legion armor. It came with Mede. Better for marching in. Lighter, better material. More of a soldier's outfit than a clunky guard in a tin can. That's one reason he won, I like to imagine.
edit: Lore from the two novels says that Mede's personal insignia is a black wolf's head. He still uses it as his personal symbol decades after getting the throne, and his oldest advisers and generals wear it. Perhaps this was the insignia of his original mercenary army. His armies could fight under this banner, and later the Red Diamond with the Wolf's Head in the corner. It's also mentioned that when not in his regal attire, he always wears a simple Colovian soldier's tunic, and he is never seen anywhere without his Legion sword strapped to his hip, even in old age.
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

Todd Howard has stated that he wished he could of put more emphasize on the differences between the Nibenese and Colovians. Could we perhaps do that?

That would actually be the entire idea behind the Mede RP, if we do it.
The Council sympathize with the Nibenese, and put one of their cronies on the throne. They're well known for having a lot of Ayleid and Akaviri blood, and the Niben is where the Battlemage Aristocracy is from.
Titus Mede is a Colovian. He gathered all his forces in the West to take back the IC from the Nibenese. I assume Eddar Olin was Nibenese based on his Elven name and the fact he tried to wrest the capitol back from Mede.

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
Colovia seems to be a popular starting point for various dynasties.
Talos, Mede, Reman.
Alessia was from Sardavar Leed, however, but she was a slave. Her original tribe could have been from the West for all we know. (Actually, it's pretty much due south of the IC. That might technically still be Colovia. The way the two halves of Cyrodill are traditionally broken up is a little uneven.)

Bethesda seems to often give a huge nod to the Nords. Colovia is heavy on Nord blood and culture, and they've long been the dominant half (militarily, at least) of Cyrodiil.

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
Sign me up, sir!
1. Why did you choose to side with the Empire? While the ideals of the Stormcloaks were pretty enough, the injustice of the Stormcloak regime and the instability and death they brought to Skyrim weren't worth a token prayer to a warrior god I don't sympathize with. In addition Tamriel needs unity to fight the Dominion, not more division.
2. Who is your favourite (in-game) Legionnaire or Legion supporter? Hadvar is pretty cool, as is Rikke, but I might be alone in loving Tullius's total commitment to finishing the job and his complete loyalty to the Empire.
3. How do you think the Empire is better for Skyrim? Without a doubt.
4. Who do you think should be the High King? ( Out of Imperial supporters, of course!) I think that whoever is elected after the civil war in the moot should be supported by the Empire. However, Elisef and Balgruuf are the ones I'd choose.
5. Mede Empire vs. Septim Empire? Hardly a fair question. The Septims experienced the peak of Imperial power, after periods of trauma in the past. The Simulacrum, the War of the Red Diamond... I think that early in its life the Septim Empire would be viewed the same by people lusting after the glory days of Reman. And in the early days of Reman, the memory of Alessia. I believe that the Medes are the true and righteous successors to the Septims, and that their greatest accomplishments lie in the future.
6. Is there anything special you do when playing a Empire character? I always exhibit honour and respect for my enemy, I never act against my allies or commit crime in allied holds. I attempt to speed the liberation of the imperial citizens under the Stormcloaks, such as the Dunmer and the loyal Cyrodiils, Bretons and Nords. I attempt to foster understanding between the Reachmen and the Empire.
7. What is your favourite Legion related quote? Rebel scum!
8: What are your thoughts on the Talos ban? Pfft. A man who fights for Talos, the god of war, fights for nothing, he fights for the sake of fighting. Those who fight under the banner of the Eight fight for love and beauty and justice.
9. Have you ever completed the Stormcloak side of the civil war? Nahh. I got to Whiterun and felt enough shame that I drowned myself in the White River after the capture of the city and started a new profile.
10: Is there anything you would change for the betterment of the Empire? Policy toward the Reach.
11. What is your specialization? Archer.

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
^ I like it. Another Legionaire who sees through Ulfric's pretty facade to the utter barbarity of his past actions. The Bear of Markarth indeed. Those poor natives. Perhaps our presence in Skyrim can help repair some of those old wounds. I've arranged to meet with one of their Matriarchs, although it could easily go downhill. Negotiations with Hagravens are notoriously dicey. They demand much and give little. Between you and me, they're more civil and amiable than your average Thalmor justiciar though.
Either way, watch old Clodius work. I know what the ladies like. She's gonna want a Taproot, a few animal skins, a few sets of antlers, some soul gems, a little Colovian brandy - which I happen to have a bottle or two from my family estate back home - piece of cake. I've got this. Still going to take a few bodyguards, but I expect it to go well.
Indeed. It takes some of both cultures to make Cyrodill what it is - my beautiful and unique home land. I truly believe that if the Niben is the heart and the throne is the brain, Colovia is the backbone of the Empire. The best traditions of Atmoran and Nede traditions blend perfectly, and the positive influence of our Redguard neighbors has strengthened our warrior culture.

Perhaps he'll encounter a talking mudcrab merchant. I hear at least one exists on Nirn.DikaSmausha wrote:I don't know if he is going to have intel if he goes to the river, solider.
I've occasionally sent scouts out to ask the wizards about it, but for some reason they dismiss it as a fairy tale.
Speaking of unusual diplomacy, I have a letter en route to Calcemo of Markarth. One of my many pet projects in the Reach is an attempt to figure out how to not only rebuild a defeated Dwarven machine, but to train it to fight for the Legion. We hauled in all the pieces of this big bipedal Dwarven war machine a while back. Nasty piece of work. I was hoping our battlemages and engineers could work together to re train the damn thing to recognize only Stormcloaks as enemies, but that's easier said than done. We might have to scrap this project for now, sadly.
edit: As an aside, did you know the Dwarven machines can actually speak? Not many people have taken the time to attempt to communicate with them, but I am a man of diplomacy and look for allies everywhere. Of course, they only speak in Dwemeris, and I'm not a scholar of that tongue, but they don't appear to be willing to have a conversation with the likes of me in any event. As an aside, I'd like to mention that steam can cause painful welts which require a potent healing balm to soothe.
edit 2: Must ask Calcemo in a subsequent letter about those strange goblin creatures we encountered in the Dwarven ruins earlier this year. Some of the local conscripts called them Falmer. I find that unlikely, as this is the name of an extinct Elven race which disappeared about as long ago as the Dwarves. It warrants further study. They could be a dangerous enemy or a powerful ally.

Re: Imperial Legion (club/faction)
I have been thinking. If we can find a way to ally ourselves with the Winterhold College mages, we would have a significant advantage over the rebels. And even if the mages won't fight on the battlefield, I doubt that they'd be averse to enchanting our weapons and brewing some potions. I'll admit, it would be a risky move, and the few men we have there won't be enough. Maybe reinforcements by sea? They'd have to be skilled oarsmen though, as there are sheets of ice everywhere. It's your call general.

Many of them choose to join the Legion of their own accord, for the experience and the gear they get to keep upon honorable discharge. It brings honor to their tribes, etc. and makes them more eligible candidates for marriage among Orcs.
My position on the Orcs is to maintain friendly relations with them, and continue to show them the Legion cares about their well being. Many of them have not forgotten how it was the Legions who evacuated Orsinium and got their grandparents and great grandparents to safety.
