Ask anyone and they'll say that, like many people, I've posted that the Altmer are one of my favourite races. Man-hater... Oh, did I assume something wrong?

Isn't the Champion mentioned in the lore, though? How do they explain that - that he/she was just in Cyrodiil, I guess?

Hahaha. It was a simple question. Whether or not you assumed anything wrong doesn't matter, sorry I asked if that was why

You have said why you dislike them but I probably missed the part as to why you think they are worse.

Either that, or attempt to deny his/her presence entirely. A lot of dictatorships do that, even today. They've already shown what they're willing to do to dissenters, so it's likely they'd kill anyone who raises the question.

Ah, good point. That does make sense. I only asked because my Fourth Era lore and how it represents the other eras, in books and what not, is awfully rusty right now. (I was honestly expecting a little more references to the Third Era, but given the great amount of time between games, the lack thereof for me is understandable.)

Though they may have had something to do with the DISAPEARANCE of jone and jode considering they want to do away with creation. And since lorkhan's flesh are the moons then it would represent that god.

I never read Keyes' books, so some of it I just pick up either through the wiki or posts on here, otherwise I try to read most of the books I find in-game.

From what I've read, the Champion is mentioned in the Oblivion Crisis and another book I can't remember the name of, but outside of that..his/her mentioning is scarce. His/her impact and history may have also been burned and lost during both the Great War as well as the sacking of Cloud Ruler Temple, which may then indicate a deliberate attempt by the Thalmor to "revise" history in their favor.

That's true, although my interpretation is that they claim to have saved the Mer, which is all they state explicitly (saviours of Mer), and which could very well be true considering the Thalmor fought against the Daedra just like House Telvanni and the other Great Houses did in Morrowind and the An-Xileel did in Black Marsh. I've never heard the Thalmor claim to have ended the invasion, or to categorically deny Martin or the Champion's involvement, they just mention only some of the facts, as any good propaganda team does, even in our world. It's not beyond conceivable for me that the Thalmor had something to do with the Void Nights, whether they were responsible for ending them or if they actually caused them, although it is just as conceivable that the Thalmor merely took advantage of the situation, which occured for some other reason, to reforge the old alliance with the Khajiit.

Now that I can see working! People dislike the Altmer for being 'snooty', but seeing the Imga in character, based on existing Lore, would really overshadow any snootiness the Altmer have displayed.

I really don't see how anyone can like the Thalmor; they're ethnocentric, narcissistic to a fault, extremely cruel, and without any regard for basic rights. More or less, the Thalmor are the Elder Scrolls equivalent of the German Nazi Party, with Justiciars acting as their Scutzstaffel (S.S.). That said, I played through the game killing every Thalmor or Thalmor associate I saw, to the point that there were no Thalmor in-game other than those that randomly spawn.

But that's why I like them. I don't like them as people but they are such good villains I'm glad they are included.

Everybody likes to play Fun With Historical Analogies.

The Thalmor are merely an imperialistic political party that wants to spread the light of superior Dominion culture to all the peoples of Tamriel. After the political union of Tamriel's people is complete, peacefully if possible as in the case of Elsweyr, or by force if some regions remain obstinate, it will be manifestly clear that the strong, competent leadership and advanced Altmeri magical technology the Dominion brings with it will lead to an improved standard of living for everyone (on average). If a few local "customs," classes, or deities fall through the cracks, this is justified as the price of progress. Justiciars are the natural spearhead of civilization's advance across Tamriel, missionaries who inculcate natives with the tenets of the true faith and prepare the way for the Dominion's benevolent administration.

I love the Thalmor . . . really adds some flavor to Skyrim's (and Tamriel's) political factions. Not that I agree with them, of course. I like Hagravens and Forsworn too, and I'm not a mountain man that slaughters goats and worships witches. .

I don't see any reason to love the Thalmor. I mean, if somebody was trying to take over my home country/continent/whatever they should at least be interesting. The Thalmor are pretty boring and generic. Mountain men that slaughter goats would be much better- my kind of people.
