That wasn't my point at all, I was questioning why 'God' would let man go without Christianity for so long. Mesopotamians, I believe, are the first recorded people with religion by the way.JockoBeans wrote:Ummmm.... The Romans, Greek, and even before them (Mesopotamia etc.) are just some examples of man living without Christianity. God didn't just leave man alone, he let them 'sin' and believe anything they wanted to believe. How exactly does it make sense for God to let man live without Christianity for so long then just decide to send a prophet to guide them?

Recorded pepole is keyArch-Mage Matt wrote:That wasn't my point at all, I was questioning why 'God' would let man go without Christianity for so long. Mesopotamians, I believe, are the first recorded people with religion by the way.
there is a lot of religion before that
there is no recored if its all spoken
It's worth nothing that "Christianity" as we know it did not exist cause it requires Christ to die, whats the point of sending Christ to early or to late?
Anyways as to why quite simple,
by the time of Jesus time the known word was pretty "big" and was "united" in the sense that something happens in the holy city you can go to another land and tell them about it, so in other words he waited in till a time when he could affect the most pepole
which was then, after all sending Christ to die more then once defeats the pourpous of it, so in short it was smart to do it then.
as to why not wait till now since we know the whole world?
well look at it right now even with Crhsit being around 2000 years ago pepole don't believe in him, do you really think many would stay for another 4000 years?
i don't think so, the Lord is truly wise beyond any of us
Remeber the billions we have now is nothing compared to how many have been around over time in the OT
God is "waiting" for all of us to be here
how many is all of us? I have no clue, but I'm sure he knows how many their can\will be.
So to us 2000 years is a long time, bbut to him its just antoher day

Re: Why are you religious/non-religious?
And the Asians had different religions at that time too. Thing is, all the Abrahamic religions came out of the middle-east, ie. they were made up and meant for those specific group of people. As Buddhism for the Asians and Shintoism for the Japanese in particular. Before recorded time, man was known to be spiritual, but it was more akin to Amerindian stuff with voodoo, belief in spirits and such rather than a God. Why was Jesus a Jew, why all prophets are Arab people? That's something I was never able to understand. The rest of the world is left in the dark with Christianity and Islam, the religion was pretty much forced into the rest of the world since the Roman empire, while it was regional before.

The "made for" relays on the fact that they are not real, as i cant say for sure fi any fo them are realAnd the Asians had different religions at that time too. Thing is, all the Abrahamic religions came out of the middle-east, ie. they were made up and meant for those specific group of people
There has been plenty of "pre cutral" pepole relying on a "god" of sortsAs Buddhism for the Asians and Shintoism for the Japanese in particular. Before recorded time, man was known to be spiritual, but it was more akin to Amerindian stuff with voodoo, belief in spirits and such rather than a God.
sure magic was around and worshiped
but Even The bible talks about it (which IMO shows it was around then as how would they have known that there was voodoo thousadns and thousands of years ago?)
Quite simply jesus was not a "jew" per sayWhy was Jesus a Jew, why all prophets are Arab people?
he was a God in of him self, he gets in the way of the Jew beliefs (they did not belive he was the son of God
As for the Prophets, cause back then no one but the Arab pepole followed God, evrey one eles had chocen something eles
left in the dark? how do you figure?. The rest of the world is left in the dark with Christianity and Islam, the religion was pretty much forced into the rest of the world since the Roman empire, while it was regional before.
maybe god did stuff else where but why tell pepole that the world is not flat?
he did not tell them a lot of "scine things"
its just him talking to those who are around
Also remember if adam and eve really existed then at one point the whole world belive in him and over time they chocse someone eles
and god let them stay that path

Why, though? Why does 'God' let people 'stray'? Why does he let people be of a different Religion, or non-religious for that matter. If it would be up to him I'm sure he wouldn't like me much. So why am I and the many people of the world not devout Christians? If I was God I'd announce myself to the world, sadly he doesn't feel like doing that. Dunno why.

That is because in my opinion religion is not literal. All the things in the bible for instance are just metaphors that intend to teach you something.
In my opinion.

He dose it cause he wants us to be free nothing he does is force on us, sometimes he punishes us for things true but we still are free to make choices, he gave us free will and he does not get involved and make us do things
its kind of like a parent a "good parent" teachers the kid their beliefs but will not force them they still let them have free will God is not going to force you to do things cause he loves you and wants you to pick, he wants you to love him on your own part not being forced,if you give someone a "love potion" is it as good as when the person falls for you y them selfs?

Maybe it's because we have free-will? If you force people to believe and have a strong faith in something they don't want to then that's manipulation. If God is a loving, caring God I'm sure he wouldn't manipulate everyone so blatantly.Arch-Mage Matt wrote:Why, though? Why does 'God' let people 'stray'? Sooo... God: "I will create Homosexual people." Then, God: "Homosexuals are bad. I shall level a city to stress this point."
These are just holes that I see. I say them as I see them IMO.

You missed my point. Jesus wasn't "born" (or appeared if you prefer) in the Americas, Asia, Western Europe or Australia, he appeared in Israel. Because of transportation and such, the world wasn't as connected as now. Pretty much the whole Asian territory was visited only by traders, and they had different religions. Only the Arab people followed God because no one else knew about that god. If everything came from God then everything we are capable of also came from God. Even Satan came from God, his actions however were his own, a product of free will.
God has given us everything but sin occurs because we have freedom, this evidently can cause some difficulties but I personally don't believe you can have a true faith if you have been forced into it against your will. Free-will is essential to a strong relationship with the God of your choosing.

As I said whats the point of some one "loving" you if you force them?
And The desire to have sex is not bad
its instinct
But acting out them or having thoughts about acting them out is bad
so while liking another guy is not a sin
having sex with him is, and once again god gave us free will
he did not make us have sex with others of the same gender
we choice that
so its the humans fault not God's

You mean Jesus entered this world as several persons doing things for God? You do know there's nothing about any savior and such recorded elsewhere than in the middle-east?Wolfie wrote:My bad i read wasn't as was sorryYou missed my point. So, how can we see the bible as the ultimate book if it may very well be a tiny fraction of God's work? And what I meant, is that in recorded history, the other regions of the world had no real links with the Abrahamic religions. Or at least, very limited ones.sorry I know my grmmar and spelling is not the best

Yet he created you in such a way that you ought to desire sex at one point. If he created you as someone who is attracted to males rather than females, it's not your fault if your nature makes it very hard for you to resist. That desire for sex comes with the NEED to procreate. Men can't procreate together, but that's not exactly something your body can recognize. And you do know there are homosexual animals? Did God create everything, yet creatures acting on instincts (God's work) can do things he wouldn't allow?he cerated free will which lets you choice to sleep with someone of the same gender

It's much less of a choice than you think. There's a whole body chemistry that makes actual choice a much smaller part of the equation that you might think. Like how you may fall in love with someone purely because your body recognizes compatibility of some sorts, like your body chemistry can get your libido (and lust) higher. Is it that much of a choice when your whole body tells you want to?Dude thats uncalled forUh-oh, we're getting to picking-and-choosing the open-interpretations of Religion to fit our needs.
