Orc Strongholds

Post by Daemos Avetorii »

Everytime I find an Orc Stronghold, I get this urge to KILL THEM!! :Twisted Evil:
I don't know. Maybe I think Orcs are stupid with their malacath thing.
They're all like You not belong here, get out. Wich is basically my trigger... So I kill them...
Doubtless I am the only one with such a psycho rage against Orcs. Unless the poll tells otherwise.

Logic fail. Doubtless you once encountered an orc walking to you calling you a milk drinker or something..... right?

Logic Fail: Lone Wandering Orcs are not part of a Stronghold.

The Orcs of the Strongholds are a strong and noble people. They have honorable ways. The Strongholds keep to themselves. Instead of mindlessly slaughtering them, become accpeted, and you see who they are.

Um...Orcs are just people. They live in Strongholds for a reason.

Because of the blind, ignorant prejudice they've been subject to in the past.

Sound familiar?
Monsters are bred in labyrinths, labyrinths are bred from walls. There is a reason the Giants choose to remain nomadic rather than follow their shield kin the Nords in building permanent settlements. The Tower is the beginning of all walls.

I love the Orcs, they are greatly mistreated by humans. I also feel bad that Orsinium has been sacked and rebuilt so many times, so I wish to help them in whatever way I can. They have the right to kick you out, especially if you are a human race, it's just pretty much embedded into their culture that other people don't care for them much. For along time Orsimer were viewed as beasts to be killed, it's just terrible.

Well, while I did fetch an item that I was asked to get... I'd say it's more accurate to say I basically just waltz in and loot the mine dry.

Are there larger stronghold interiors? All I could ever find past the initial little outside area and the mine was a small area filled with beds... kind of a letdown for a term like 'stronghold'...

Orcs have also been treated as goblins, and I get a bit annoyed at that.

That's another thing I don't like. Some people treat it as traditional fantasy ._.

Dang... this just brings up another weapon we lost... the club. I plan on an Ocr on my next character, and my favorite Orc I had in Oblivion, was a dual club wielding (mod) shaman. ...where are my clubs Bethesda...???

There are clubs, but you can't use them (Giants have stolen all of them ;-) ).

Why would I want to kill all these noble orcs? The most honorable moment with an orc is the old orc that wants to die in honour!

I always thought http://uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Gortwog would work out peace with the other races, but according to the Lore it was to no avail. The strongholds, if I understand the lore correctly, aren't older than 200 years considering crap hit the fan and the Orcs fled to Skyrim because of humans requiring war.

But did you know there is an actual scientific finding that the need for war is in every human being yet it's more dominate in those born with the "Y" chromosone ((only found in males)).

Strangley it was A bunch of Bretons and Redguards that sacked the Orcs, not Nords as to what I would of expected had I not read http://uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Orsinium

They're very much like Klingons: honorable warriors who, while seeming at times to be vicious and bloodthirsty, are, in reality, a noble people trying to make their way in the world. They mistrust humans(and others) because Orsinium has been sacked so many times, yes, but also because most non-Orcs don't hold themselves to the same rigid code of honor. Like Klingons, though, once you prove honorable and respectful, they welcome you in.

The Strongholds partly annoyed me because this cultural revelation of chieftains owning women seemed odd for a race that are well-known for treating woman equally to men. Still, I have a lot of respect for the Orcs as a people and seeing them in a more natural state was pleasant enough, even if it did just show the regressive effect Malacath has on them. There wasn't really anything going on in the strongholds themselves though, so I did indeed raid them for ore and move on.

Unless they have items I'm willing to kill them for, I just suck their mine dry and walk out.

Actually, some of the Strongholds are implied to be ancient. One Orc woman in Skyrim mentions her people lived in Skyrim before the first Atmorans arrived. I believe others are more recent, after the fall of Orsinium.

Stronghold culture is the oldest Orc culture. It's important to note that Iron Town itself was a Stronghold, and some would argue that the Orcs brought the doom of Orsinium on themselves by allowing Gortwog to forsake Malacath in favor of the dead god Trinimac. This may have angered the Daedra Lord and caused him to manipulate the Redguard and Breton knightly orders into teaching his own children a lesson.

Malacath is NOT popular at parties, according to Sheogorath.

Also, he came across as rather unpleasant in Lord of Souls..although curiously he healed Prince Attrebus Mede of his wounds when he really had nothing to gain in return for it, except the promise that Mede would help defeat his rivals for him, and would serve him when called upon.

Which leads me to wonder what role Attrebus and his heirs had in Orsinium's downfall.

(In fact, the Medes in general seem to make pacts with Daedra. I can't recall if Titus I ever had any dealings with them, but it's implied Titus II wielded Goldbrand on the battlefield against the Thalmor. People familiar with Goldbrand know it's a gift from the male aspect of Boethiah - a god of war. It is usually granted only after slaying a warrior of each of the mortal races of Tamriel, meaning if Titus earned it, he would have had to have been a capable and fearsome warrior in his youth.)

What happens to me a lot is when I find a strong hold is that I don't realize it to be a strong hold and start killing them, me assuming that they are bandits... until I realize that they are fleeing, then I get a pit in my stomach for killing innocent Orcs...
