I've yet to meet the Dwemer constructs or Falmer, so I'm looking forward to that. I was level 16 last time I checked and nothing has been so overwhelming I had to turn on my heels out of there. The first troll was tough, sure, and a bandit chief took me several reloads, but otherwise I've persevered. Mind you like I said I've been no higher than Adept difficulty.

Yeah, getting into the teens is quite satisfying, as now I can take on a bear ; that's the thing with ES games: why are bears always like gods? I honestly believe they were the hardest enemies in oblivion, and a snow bear is harder than a dragon in Skyrim.
Spoiler:
That's right, you're going to die in here!

Centurion one shotted me.

Think they start around level 24. I was at 15.

Or maybe frost trolls are supposed to be hard enemies and trying to attack one without any strategic planning or thought at a low level is stupid?

Seriously.

Didn't go so well :D

btw, a regular bandit should be able to be killed nearly instantly.
Have you got a follower? Or a decent Conjuration spell?
I love my flame atronach, she distracts them if they hit her, and if they chase me I just kite and zap while she fireballs them. (She has like a 100% hit rate lol)
I think I maybe know what one you met, during the main quest? And I was around the same level as you.

It is difficult sometimes, though. I had so much trouble in two different rooms at Labyrinthian..

These topics are moving so fast that this almost feels like a necro post. Because of that, I'm hesitant to post this, but I can't resist.

Weasel, I think I just read the hilarious reason why you were having a hard time stealing ingots before...

Maybe in a few months mods or patches can filter out any unwanted things in the game.
I haven't actually noticed any inconsistencies between crime and detection myself. As was said, you may be experiencing an isolated bug. I wouldn't doubt it, as I've experienced stuff that I can't even find references for on google or anywhere else.
wont guards and cityfolk level with me? ie making it harder to kill them?
Or are they already at max power at the start?
I think they(unnamed guards) level up with you, but, they're probably, like Oblivion, scaled several levels ahead of you. The point would be that at low levels, you probably won't have the equipment to overcome the level gap.
I don't actually think they are leveled. After I did the Stormcloaks questline they were far too strong for me to kill but now about 10 levels later they are quite easy.
Maybe they do scale a bit but they must reach a lower level cap than the player.

I've honestly never liked that things stayed "stolen" even though none knows that, and I hope that they fix that in no less than the next month.

I don't understand how you're having trouble with killing enemies; but I can just restate the basics...

1.Stealth

Third-person helps with looking around corners
Never take chances unless there's no choice
Sneak damage is your friend
Its not like it doesn't help to use magic to stay hidden (Muffle, Chameleon, the Quiet Casting perk)
Alchemy can make a great substitute if you find the right stuff

2.Combat

Remember that you can use the favorites by pressing up on the D-Pad at any time with anything
You have two hands, use them
Watch your stats, you don't want to end up not being able to slash, cast, or stay alive...

And make general guidelines to what you want to do with your character; which perk you want next, when to raid a certain dungeon, if you want to wait to finish this quest, etc...

Frost trolls are one of the hardest mobs in the game at lower (<L30) levels, and there's always one on the path to High Hrothgar. Practice kiting, or find some rocks to jump up on. Break its pathing and it becomes target practice.

Nothing imbalanced there. You just need to find ways to work around it.

The chicken is a spy!

Well, I met the Dwemer for my first time, together with the Falmer. On apprentice-adept setting I found them not challenging particularly, but not weak either; taking on five or so Falmer including rangers and magic users was a good fight.

Hehe, sorry about that. I was of course referring to the constructs, but I think Beth have well and truly sent the Dwemer themselves on their way (except for Yagarn, that is).
