Esbern main quest (Spoilers)

So, I was doing the "Cornered rat" quest, and after I found Esbern, I lost him and now I can't find him =/ I've waited like 3 days and he's not showing up =/

Sometimes if he gets hurt in battle he'll crawl on his hands an knees for about an hour, while glitching randomly to different parts of the ratworks. This can be fixed (at last it was for me) by leaving and coming back, or (I belive) by healing him, if you can find him.
