Well, I always seem to get girls I don't like, so I've had only a couple relationships before. It's mainly just limited to the odd girl I meet in a bar on holiday. And I'm terrified of asking girls out so I pretty much suck in that right. I have absolutley no problem talking to girls in a normal situation either, which annoys me further.

Just celebrated 1 year with my girlfriend in the month o' rains' hand. In other news, my aunt on my dad's side has just disowned our family. Troubling times.

My wife and I just celebrated our 2 year anniversary on the 18th and my son is 2 months old as well. We have 3 cats and 1 dog. Busy household.

I have 1 sister who lives in Texas with 2 kids (son and daughter) and another sister who lives about 3 minutes from me with 1 daughter. And then my parents are both retired and live about 2.5 minutes from me.

My mother-in-law and Step-Father-in-law also live about 2.5 minutes from me with my sister-in-law (12 years old now) and my father-in-law, step-mother-in-law, and 2 brothers-in-law (one is 3 months and one is 8) are about 30 minutes from us. It is nice to have family so close to us that htey can babysit or just help out.

Why not just converse with them on the music of Richard D. James and serenade them with an acoustic rendition of Lemonworld? It would work for me.

I guess I should say that I've hit some tension with my family. My parents are annoyed that I'm not getting much done right now, my brother's annoyed that I won't help him out with a massive event that he needs support for over the summer, and my sister was annoyed with me for not supporting her in her gymnastics event coming up, but I've finally given in for her, so we're good.

I'll fetch my Guitar and do a quick Wiki search to brush up my knowledge on Richard D. James.

So, to share this with my (I hope still) friends:

I'm engaged (to boyfriend, not to some other new guy). Getting married on my birthday, November 26. No proposal (we sort of just decided together), no ring, no big thing, just a backyard wedding at my parents' and having the family over. I'm really excited

That's awesome, a big step in anyone's life. As for the no proposal and small wedding, if you ask me that is much better then a church wedding that costs a bleetin fortune anyway. Love shouldn't be materialistic after all.... and there is the thing with churches making my skin crawl a bit.

Congratulations!

Congrats!

A nice, small wedding sounds really nice. I can't stand those unnecessarily large weddings with all of the family and their friends invited.

Here, I'll just say chocolate, so as to not pollute the thread. Elsewhere, I'll give a full description. And to soothe those of you who are concerned about me not saying cheesecake, let me just point out that there's also a birthday then

And thank you all

I'm calling it now. By the end of this week, my parents will have told me they are getting a divorce. I initially had it pegged for after Christmas sometime, but they have stepped their game up. Today my dad told me there was a chance he may be moving out for a while. I don't know why he treats me like a child, just tell me whats up, I can't reasonably place a bet on the outcome without knowing the odds. My best friend/brother, thinks we still have a few weeks, but I'm convinced by Saturday.

And this may sound callous, by my parents have been fighting basically all the time for the past like 6 years. Its to the point now where I am certain they are going to get a divorce, so I would rather them just do it and be done with it. Not that it matters to me much anyway, considering in a matter of months I will have moved out for good, but its just the principle of the thing.

Divorces are tricky, especially when you have a family with someone, but mostly because relationships, in general, are tricky business. There are ebbs and flows and sometimes you are so involved in what it means to you and how to deal with it, and perhaps trying to get to the bottom of your conflict (not always possible), internally, that you forget how to treat the people "outside" that are also involved. But if they're always fighting it is probably for the best.

Are you okay with it? It can be tough.

I'm fine with it. Like I said, its been going on for years now. My senior year of high school, 4 years ago, my dad moved out for a few months. They had been fighting for years before that. So at this point its expected and its just gonna be easier to deal with than the back and forth [&@%!] of the past like 8 years.

My parents are in a similar situation. My mum hates my dad, a lot. About 6 years ago, I don't know how, he started having an affair with some Spanish [&@%!]. He could go away at any time, but he promised me he wouldn't until I had done my public exams, because of stress. (3rd last year before Uni). I'm now in my final year before school, and nothing's happened. My parents just don't have the finances to be able to divorce. So instead I have to put up with shouting near every day when I get home. The days when my mum seems to forget are the best.
I'd rather it had just be gotten over with.

I'll soon have been with Mr J for 2.5 years and he's been with his other partner for over a year. That's more than three years of loving between us. Image
