MW2 or BC2?
Which one is better? I am thinking of getting BC2, and I am wondering if it's worth it.

Re: MW2 or BC2?
Hard one man. However, I'm a COD junkie to the core so MW2 would be my first choice. Plus MW2 has awesome multiplayer. If you really can't decide go with the one that cheapest and wait till the other price goes down some.

Re: MW2 or BC2?
You can't really compare them so it's hard to say which one is better.
Are you going to buy it for the PC or the Xbox 360?
MW2 gives you unrealistic, fast-paced battles that are full of action. You're a lone wolf, aiming to be the best player and get some nice killstreaks. MW2 is filled with achievements, unlockables, attachments, weapons, killstreak rewards, deathstreak rewards, perks, ranks etc., so if you like those sort of things you might get addicted to MW2. The singleplayer is fun but quite short, Spec Ops is great if you have a friend who also owns this game (you can also play Spec Ops online).
Bad Company 2 gives you realistic battles that require more tactic and take more time. Teamplay is very important and a good BC2 player values his team more than his personal glory. If you can blow up an enemy tank to save your squad's asses but it will also lower your K/D a bit, then stop whining and detonate those C4 charges. Kits (aka classes) are very important in BC2, you can be a Medic (lmg), Recon (spec ops or sniper), Assault (ammo resupply & assault rifle or shotgun+C4) or Engineer (repair tool, mines or a rocket launcher (three types) and a SMG or shotgun).
MW2 is a game for casual gamers who want fast & fun combat and don't care that this game doesn't take itself very seriously. ON THE XBOX 360 (don't even think about getting MW2 on the pc!), this game can be a lot of fun online if you like to be a lone wolf. There are tons of unlockables, the graphics look nice, there are a lot of maps and game modes to keep you busy and you can always find some friends and laugh out loud in your microphone when you just killed them.
BC2 is a game for both casual and hardcore gamers. If you value teamplay and want to play a role in your team, pick this game. The graphics are great but the best part of Bad Company 2 are the sound effects. Seriously, you'll be blown away. These are the best sound effects I've ever seen in a videogame, hell, it's even better than lots of war movies I've seen.
IMO, it is more rewarding to win a match because you and your squad managed to destroy point A (in Bad Company 2) than winning a match in MW2 because you killed 24 enemies.

Re: MW2 or BC2?
I already have MW2 by the way, I was just wondering if BC2 is any better. Sorry about not making that clear.
Basically, I am wondering if I should just stick to MW2, or buy a new game, that game being BC2.

Re: MW2 or BC2?
Josjie hit the nail on the head
i think you should buy both if you're into fps, cos even though there is an overlap between the two and BF2 is clearly competing for MW2 crown, they are different enough to offer between them the whole spectrum of fps experience (more or less)
i havent played mw2 since battlefield came out and the price of mw2 dlc is too high imo, but theres no denying mw2 is the standard other games have to try and emulate
being able to destroy buildings in bf2 is something i'll never get tired of

Just buy them both, It drives me crazy seeing this on forum's:
"Shall I get BC2 or MW2?" or "Which is better BC2 or MW2?"
If you can afford a console, then I'm sure two games aren't too costly to buy.

Sixty quid or more is quite a lot to pay for two games seeming you can get a console for just over two hundred.Elegost wrote: If you can afford a console, then I'm sure two games aren't too costly to buy.

Re: MW2 or BC2?
Have you ever tried the tactical gametypes in MW2? They are much more team-oriented, and there are many different gametypes for different preferences. The team that works together the best is definitely rewarded in those gametypes. I'm not sure what BC2 has in the way of game mode options, but MW2 has ~20.Josjie wrote:You can't really compare them so it's hard to say which one is better.

Re: MW2 or BC2?
MW2 has loads of choice but its broken up int loads of maps, loads of game modes etc
BFBC2 has loads of variety but its available in 4 huge maps in three? game modes
You are guaranteed a full lobby in MW2 on the more popular game types. However, if you have a favourite map, you might not play it for days cos of the random rotation of the locations (a few days ago i played Strike 5 times in a row which i didnt appreciate at all since it's not even one of my fave maps from COD4). Also, lots of people playing mw2 means you'll inevitably encounter complete and utter aarsseholes in the lobby and in the games. Whilst you can mute them and ignore team killers, it is still a jarring note for me that i even have to put up with this rubbish.
Having said that, hardcore search and destroy is really excellent fun, very exciting and like jpot says, rewards teams as much as anything battlefield has to offer. I arrived at HC SnD in my search for game modes with a minimum of idiot players. MW2 is fun in small packages, its more like playing a team game the way its set up (like basketball or 5 a side soccer).
I have played half hour epic battles in BFBC2, during which I have sniped from behind enemy lines, flown, laid anti tank mines, assaulted buildings with a run and gun set up, healed team mates, shot down choppers from a mounted gun, etc etc. Everything you get from MW2 is still there plus a bit more you could say, but its not condensed into the small packages like in MW2 (as Josjie says). In a way you can get see the real benefit of tactical play in BFBC2, which can't be developed beyond short bursts in MW due to the shorter games and smaller locations. Also, Battlefield will only subject you to people in your squad/party and whilst team killing does happen, its more often accidental than some Timmie trying to spoil the game.
depending on the mood i'm in and the people i'm gaming with, each has as much to offer than the other. BFBC2 is less popular but it's by no means the underdog and i like it a lot for this reason (plus the MW2 dlc was overpriced) Since IW has all but gone, MW2 looks like the last game in this series for a while, until Respawn get their stuff rolling out. Its treyarch and COD from now on...

Re: MW2 or BC2?
A typical MW2 game:
I join a lobby, having to leave a frienly party chat to listen to squeeky children singing. A clan taunts me because they out-nerd me and have a dozen x's in their names. The game begins, I pick my class and find that every other player on my team is using the same weapon class, forcing me to change class. The clan go round in a vroup of 6 and pwn everyone without facing any danger. I camp to avoid dieing instantly, get a 10 kill streak and then get killed by a randomly thrown grrnade just as I'm about to get an AC-130. I respawn, and an enemy harrier immediately opens fire on and kills me. Halfway through the game, extreme lag cuts in, the game switches to the hopeless host migration for 15 minutes, then crashes to the menu. I recieve hate mail/spam from the clan for my camping/constant lack of luck respectively.
A typical BC2 game:
I join a lobby and face the most ridiculous lag known to man. I epuip my weapon and look around my base, realising that all my vehicles have been destroyed. I am then killed by a helicopter/machine gun/impossible to find sniper, in that order. I finally get some luck and make it across the battlefield alive, then open fire on the nearest enemy, only to find that the outrageous hitboxes make me miss every shot. I then face a ton of ridiculous and easily-fixed bugs as I try to cross no mans land again. The game lags out (surprise, surprise) and upon attempting to enter another game, I am informed that the EA server has lost me.
Both games are awful, mainly because of the huge emphasis on luck, but also because of the lack of fixes/support from IW/EA.

Re: MW2 or BC2?
Haven't played MW2 yet, but if it's anything like the first Modern Warfare, the 'lone wolf' kind of thing isn't really the game's fault. It's as good for teamwork as it is for soloing. Thing is the average MW player is pretty much all about the kills, and HIS kills at that. If you were to get two organized clans playing MW, you'd have a lot of fun. Still, the game's still awesome if you just want to pick it up for 30 minutes and have some shooter fun.
'tho I disagree with lone wolf being the same as casual gamer. You don't need to be tactical to be hardcore. Otherwise Total War would be more hardcore than Diablo, for example.

Re: MW2 or BC2?
MW2's biggest problem imo are the lack of frontlines. In Bad Company 2 and TF2, there are always frontlines where most of the fighting takes place. This makes the combat feel more realistic, it forces you to work together as a team and overall gameplay is a simply a lot of fun because it's not just you and the enemy. In Bad Company 2, dozens of things can happen at the same time. An enemy tank rolling in, a friendly Recon trying to C4 him, a helicopter flying over your head, an enemy UAV who spotted you, a squad of three enemy soldiers trying to flank you and meanwhile you're reviving your squad member and reloading your XM8 machinegun.
I've played almost 500 games in BC2 and I've never had serious lag. The game never became unplayable or anything.
And 'all vehicles have been destroyed'? If that's the case, they can respawn at any moment so just wait for a bit.
If you're killed inside your base by a helicopter, that's stupid of him because there should be plenty of anti-air guns and guided missile launchers in your base. Use those to take down the helicopter.
And can you name one of these bugs? I can't name a single bug from BC2, because I've never encountered one.
The hitboxes are fixed now in the latest patch. Again, because the community asked for it. And other games like Team Fortress 2 and MW2 also have hitbox problems. BC2 fixed it by making them bigger, which is sometimes annoying (I enter a house or duck behind cover but I get killed because the enemy hits the air next to me, hurray big hitboxes) but at least you can now hit an enemy and headshot him if you want.
While I recognise the (technical) problems of MW2 (lag, host migration, kill streaks), Bad Company 2 has actually received a lot of patches and bug fixes. A lot of things the community asked for later arrived in a patch (over-powered weapons like the M60 and M1911 got nerfed, your favorite kit selection is now saved so you don't have to select your loadout every time). So I think this has more to do with your computer/internet connection.Veckatimest wrote:A typical MW2 game:

Re: MW2 or BC2?
Dammit! Just looked up BC2 and you're right, they've patched most of it up. I've mostly gone from wprd of mouth from people I barely know, so I guess next time I should do my research. Oh, and that all vehicles destroyed/ helicopter thing may have been a bit of an exaggeration, I admit. I still stand by my argument for MW2 though. I actually checked it out at my friend's house, and it's actually got worse for hackers etc. It really surprises me that Infinity Ward rarelydo anything about all the problems. That's what made World at War so much better really: the fact that Treyarch actually offered some support. Of course, all CODs are terrible on PC.

Yeah MW2 sucks. I would give the 360/PS3 version a 7.0 and the PC version a 4.0Veckatimest wrote:Dammit!
Anyway, so far we've only talked about the multiplayer. What singleplayer do you think is better? I prefer the singleplayer of BC2, MW2 felt unrealistic and it was just running & gunning. Bad Company 2 has a great setting, humor, great squad mates and awesome combat.

Although BC2 ripped off Call of Duty sometimes in Single Player (Wait for the thunder...) it definitely has better single player. Although World at War had a very impressive campaign, and COD4 was alright, MW2 just seemed a bit over the top and run n gun all the time. Battlefield games have always been quite clever with the way they make the campaign.

Re: MW2 or BC2?
Before MW2's release, someone asked IW if the PC version was a direct port of the console version. The person at IW said "No. It has mouse control, text chatting, and adjustable graphics levels."
