360 DLC question
I downloaded all of the DLC (minus the Horse Armor and Orrey) but I don't have a working wireless connection at my house. I was wondering if there was a way to use the DLC without being online.

To answer the first question, I downloaded the content at a friends house using his connection.
For the second point (Sanguine), I downloaded the content and then turned off my console once it finished (I made certain that it was all finished). I disconnected the wireless adapter and turned the console back on to check if I could use the content whilst offline. It didn't work. Any ideas?

Well, once when I cleared my cache (going to memory via the dashboard and clearing it by pressing "Y"), some of the DLC items were deactivated, can't remember which ones, and the only way I could reactivate them was by starting up the game with the account that had downloaded them with with an active internet connection.Reaper67 wrote:To answer the first question, I downloaded the content at a friends house using his connection.

This is true, but last week while I was playing, the day before my Xbox LIve subscription had expired. I tried to load the game, and got a message saying that content on my load file had been dependent on it. Something like that, can't recall what it said exactly but I never tried loading it. Once I renewed my XBL, it was fine, so I actually thought maybe you needed to be connected online to use the DLC, but not really sure about that, my 360 is always online, so I couldn't say for sure!Immortal NPC wrote:As long as it's on your hard drive, it should work. Go into your memory and make sure it's there, If it is and it's still not working, try downloading the DLC again (don't worry, it's free if you've already purchased it).

Yep, that's the one! Wonder what happens if you go ahead and load it lol... why do you keep seeing it?Reaper67 wrote:The message is:

That is how much I have seen it. I'm quite sick of it.

For most areas that were obtained through download, the game freezes and forces you to reboot. If you are not in an area that you downloaded then the DLC items will just disappear and you'll just play as normal. The one different case is in the Wizards Tower. If you load there with the DLC inactive you'll be transported to the Bruma Test realm. More on that elsewhere. For now, I really need a way to get around this problem. I promised my mom that I would get her a Wizard Tower. XD
I keep seeing it because I am trying to find a loop hole with this hole DLC problem and I am using a save that has DLC to check so I don't have to load every time.

maybe its corrupted? ive downloaded all the content and it worked fine offline when i was having wireless problems...maybe it has to do with the subscription, mircosoft are b****ds when it comes to accounts they will use anything to keep your money and account details.
and i think also if you use another person's account or internet connection i think it will stop u loading it as its protected by privacy laws but im not sure...

Isn't downloadable content tied down to the gamertag it was originally downloaded on to? I've always been under the impression that is the case. I think it's the same with XBLA games. I know on PS3 when I deleted my PSN ID to create a new one, I deleted two games I paid for and couldn't get them back since I deleted the ID that actually performed the downloadDraykth wrote:Do you have al the updates? I had the same problem, but i didn't had an update, after I got that one everything was fine.
There could also be a problem because you used you friends xbox to download, a friend of mine had the same problem, don't know if he fixed though.

True it is tied to the gamertag but since he used his friends xbox the stuff is on that hardrive so it can't get the data without the internet.JoeDan wrote:Isn't downloadable content tied down to the gamertag it was originally downloaded on to? OK, to clear the air of all the confusion, I used my friend's INTERNET CONNECTION not his 360. I know that it's not corrupted because it works just fine when I am online using anyone's connection. It is something to do with the correspondence between my profile and my live account. This is just a shot in the dark but, would clearing the cache help at all? I've never messed with it before and I really have no idea what it does. I am not going to try that idea until I get some solid info on it though. I don't want to screw up my 360.
I've thought of hard wiring my connection but the only problem is that I have no network wires long enough to reach between my 360 and TV. I have no laptop either.

So the following is true:
You used your own Xbox 360 and Hard Drive.
You used your own live account.
You used your friends internet connection.
Gah, if all that is correct, this makes so little sense. As far as I know DLC is bound to your live account and Xbox. The DLC can be used by any profile on the Xbox to which the DLC was originally downloaded by the live account. It can always be used by the live account, no matter which Xbox, as long as it has a live connection (not sure about that, but I've seen a friend recover his profile to another Xbox and use his DLC on it).
Shot in the dark here: When did you buy your DLC?

And you've been able to use the DLC while online since then, but never while offline?Reaper67 wrote:Everything you stated is correct. I bought them approximately 5 days ago.
If so, then the following is not helpful. It's just I've been looking about, some suggest that you need to redownload your updates (Which you would have been able to do if online since that time), suggesting that the updates have been wiped from your cache at some point (overwritten by playing other games with updates). When I cleared my cache that one time, the reason I couldn't play most of my DLC was because I needed to redownload an update.
As for your question of what clearing the cache does, it simply clears out updates as far as I know.
That's how to do it if you are tempted. I'm sorry that I can't be more useful.Go to the system blade and then select memory.
Press Y on the HD symbol and then press X,X,Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X,X. Once you do this a messsage will appear saying: Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?
Performing this function will also clear any software updates.

Not 100% sure to be honest (about 90% sure), what it did when I did it was it deleted all the updates/patches. It might possibly have deleted my brothers World at War save too, as he suddenly couldn't play Nazi Zombies (we're not sure if that was the cause, as no other saves seemed to be affected). It didn't delete any of my saves as far as I could tell though.
I googled it and found a yahoo answer thingy.

It will clear out any updates or patches made to all of your games.
It will not get rid of any system updates like firmware updates or the upgrade to the New Xbox Experience/NXE. Those changes are permanent.
You won't be able to connect to Xbox Live through any game that has an update until you re-apply the update through Live.
