Vampire face change?
I am playing A female dark elf vampire, when I turned my face got changed to the first face in the list ( brown hair in pigtails) I hate this face because the pigtails act as if they were part of the shoulder so that clothing covers it and such. Is this face change supposed to happen? and what can I do about it?

Re: Vampire face change?
I'd assume it is a glitch. I can't remember how to change faces, it's been a while since I tried to edit anything after char creation. I'm only posting so you know someone has seen your request, even if I can't help.

I do appreciate that. I do have dagpic, but I can't figure out how it works either.
Re: Vampire face change?
To the best of my knowledge, this is how faces work in Daggerfall. Each part of the character image, including the body, the face, and all sorts of clothes, armour and weapons, seem to have a hierarchy of what item should be displayed "over" another. E.g. the clothes cover the body but not the other way round (obviouslyRickel wrote:the pigtails act as if they were part of the shoulder so that clothing covers it and such
I'm not sure if this is a glitch or intended behaviour, but the face is set to be covered by clothes. This means that any long hair that extends to the PC's body will be covered by a shirt, a dress or a Khajit suit.
In fact, I'm inclined to think that this is actually a glitch, because the female versions of Khajit suits very noticeably cover the PC's chin in most cases. The only clothes items that should cover the face should be cloaks because of the capes.
I guess the priority of what image goes where can be set, either through the sprite files themselves or in the game executable. However, I have no idea how to do that.
[Edit] About changing the character face, it can be easily done with one of the save games editors. I've used DAGHEX quite extensively for testing purposes, it can change the character face among many other things. It's DOS-based but will work fine in DOSBox. TI'm not sure if DaggEd can change faces but it should, at least theoretically. Both programmes are available here.

Well, is becoming a vampire supposed to change your face (to anything)?

Re: Vampire face change?
I think so. I became a werewolf or whatever in Daggerfall once and it changed my whole apperance. I'm not 100% sure about vampires though but I think they do.
Re: Vampire face change?
There's a separate set of vampiric faces in the game files, I'm not sure how excatly they are selected based on the original appearance of the character though.
