I’ve been playing Skyrim Legendary edition on PS3 for almost 2 years. It’s in 720p on my 50” plasma HDTV, which is a crime against humanity. I want to make it look gorgeous but you can’t mod it on PS3.
My gaming PC is also now connected to my TV so I want to get the PC version. It’s a beast of a machine so can run anything you throw at it, and I also have my 7.1 headphones connected. I want to use Skyrim as somewhere to explore and run around in, as a landscape more than a game, where I can roam around the wilds and camp under the stars. I’m planning on getting it through Steam so I can use the Steam Workshop to manage mods for me, so I don’t have to. What I’d like is some mod recommendations.
I don’t want new buildings, or NPCs, or economies, or gameplay enhancements. What I’m after purely are mods which enhance being in the landscape – realistic or enhanced lighting, trees, water. Anything which enhances the soundscape. Anything which makes everything look gorgeous.
I know there are thousands of mods available, and this is the trouble. What core set do you recommend?

I know this isn't what you're asking, but, if you are after gorgeous landscapes to run around... have you considered getting ESO? I mention this because either way you'd be paying for a whole game. My Skyrim has a huge number of mods installed, and I still think ESO is more beautiful.

I'd like to go for Skyrim first. £10 vs £50!
Playing on PS3:
Oblivion Game of the Year edition (Knights of the Nine + Shivering Isles)
Skyrim Legendary (Hearthfire, Dragonborn & Dawnguard)
