How's Early Access Been for You?

Post by Enteum »

As the title asks... How has early access been for you? I am still waiting till Tuesday as I only pre ordered the standard edition.

Have the log ins been stable? Any issues?

I guess there are still bugs, but I can deal with that. I'm hopeful they will be fixed in the near future.

minimal bugs... mostly horse not appearing when called or npc's stuck in the floor. really good overall. Only time I experienced lag was when I jumped inot cyrodiil to snag some skyshards and ran into the zerg.

The most awful thing has been the falling through the stairs bug. On one character I didn't have enough money to wayshine out, and apparently /stuck was accidentally applied to PvE as well, so I had to abandon her.

I'm going to kill zenimax. I mistakenly paid for the stupid digital deluxe edition. My fault. But then the site told me my billing information was wrong, but when I went to go look at my bank account I see an $80 charge. That's funny. My account status is stuck in beta access and I can't even get on the game. I'm [&@%!]...

I woke up at the time they said they were going to open it, only to find that they'd already had the server up for an hour, and the name Alarra was already taken.
My first character ended up falling through the floor in Coldharbour and is currently stuck until Support helps me out.
Other than that, though, it's been running smoothly. I've noticed it definitely seems more polished, with more lootable objects and the addition of the starting cutscene and so on.

EDIT: Support got back to me and fixed my problem. Awesome service, definitely - it was faster than I was expecting, they got ahold of me in-game, and the guy who helped me was pretty cool. He parted with an in-character farewell that was specific to my character's race; that made me smile.

Went pretty well for me, I didn't get in until about 9:30 EST. Lucked out when it came to naming and went questing. I didn't run into any bugs, but I think at one point an enemy NPC fell through the ground while he was chasing me. I also ran into an NPC who was floating on top of a campfire, grabbed a screenshot of that.

A friend of mine was a few hours ahead of me, but we mailed crafting materials back and forth to each other, so I feel I've made good progress.

Nice so it sounds like most things are going pretty smoothly. Bugs don't bother me so much, as they will hopefully get fixed anyway. Well, it's Elder Scrolls. There are always bugs :P It seems they are prepared for launch with the overflow servers and such. I really hope this works out for them. I enjoyed the beta sessions.

24 hours until I can get into game after work tomorrow. I have a feeling that will be one long day at work :(

Hope you are all having a blast in Tamriel. See you there tomorrow :D

It's been a bug free smooth ride for me! Really enjoying my time in Tamriel! Especially like that I have friends on with me. ESO should be the default chat for the forums... >_>

Been really enjoying it, lots of fun.
I had a couple of stutters the first time I played it, but when I played it today absolutely no problems.

It's been going quite well for me, I'm actually surprised at the number of people I've encountered as well. Makes me wonder what full release will be like... and how much I'm going to have to fight for crafting materials. Ah, well, I'll worry about that when it comes to pass.

I've notice the occasional lag spike on my end, but only really in towns with a lot of people. Sometimes I spawn into a floor when I enter or leave a building, but a couple seconds and it fixes itself.

This all sounds very promising :) From what I have read and replied to on the official ESO forums (amongst the standard complaints) Things seem to be going really well. I really want this game to succeed. Ok, it's not single player ES, but a line has to be drawn somewhere in an mmo. I think this game could become very, very involved. C'mon, it's The Elder Scrolls.

I am counting down until I can log in tomorrow.

Waaaahhhhhh.......

Early Access has actually been really enjoyable for me, far more so than the Beta. I did run into one bug where objects in the world suffered a delayed load, causing me to get stuck in the environment, but it was nothing a /stuck couldn't fix (and may be due to my running the game on almost max settings despite having a fairly underwhelming PC by today's/ESO's standards).

That aside though, I've actually had a lot of playtime in which I've been alone, or close to alone (one or two other players) - so it almost hasn't felt like an MMO at times. I've been able to actually get to quite a few chests and crafting nodes without someone coming and taking them while I distract the mobs guarding them, so that's been cool.

Not too bad, some bugs here and there, but nothing a /reloadui or log out can't solve
The skip tutorial option for second/additional characters is nice, but my OCD won't let me miss out on all the pork and lockpicks in coldharbour...

Yeah, I haven't skipped it either. There are a LOT of freebie cooking ingredients in Coldharbour, aren't there? Maybe that explains why Molag Bol wants Tamriel so much, can't get enough of our tasty food.

It doesn't feel like an Elder Scrolls game to me unless I steal/liberate everything until I'm either too rich to care or I'm overburdened....usually the latter...

..I won't lie, I had a stupid grin on my face when I realized you can now take every weapon from the first table in the prison and rummage through wheelbarrows filled with bones for even more animal parts and worms

It's been great. I feel like there are fewer other players around than during Beta, which for me is a good thing. There's usually not too many people clustered around the questgivers, so it's easy to forget that everybody else is doing the same thing I am, but there's enough other people around that the world feels alive.

I didn't have a lot of trouble during Beta with bugs, but the major one I encountered has been smoothed out. Overall, having a blast!

I tried out the "skip tutorial" option creating my second character, and I definitely won't be doing it again. I was able to use the character I started sunday to make up some of the gaps in what I didn't get to pick up in Coldharbour, but it wasn't worth it.

I also ran into my first bugged quest, which oddly enough, wasn't bugged for me in beta. Hopefully by tonight it'll cooperate.

The Frozen Man?

The North American server went down abruptly at 6 am BST (5 am GMT) today, although they did give us a 15 minute warning. It's still down now at 11 am BST (10 am GMT). No idea what's going on.

Times for scheduled downtime have been posted and I linked them here.

Update: Less true for playing in the evening. Shockingly, six in the morning isn't the most trafficked time.

No, it was "Cast Adrift" for the Dominion. I tried the usual /reloadui, log out, close out with no luck so I submitted a bug report and continued on with other quests. I'll try it again next time I'm able to log on.

That quest was also bugged for me on one of my characters, but not the other. I think as long as you always have a bottle of torchbug treacle in your inventory before speaking to a sailor, things work out ok, but if you try to talk to a sailor, get treacle, and then bring it back to them, the quest breaks. If you're a completionist, I'd recommend abandoning the quest and trying again.

Thanks, I'll probably end up doing that.
