Strange character/critter movement/animations

Post by Archea47 »

Hey guys & gals ...

I haven't played Skyrim in almost a year after doing a completionist, ~250 hour playthrough last winter

Now that I have a lot of PC to play with (5Ghz octocore, two R9 280Xs w/ total of 6GB VRAM, SSDs in RAID0) I reinstalled (Steam) Skyrim and threw a bunch of graphical mods at it. None of the mods alter animations or characters, just things like Skyrim HD, Climates of Tamriel, Flora, etc (and it's so beautiful!! :D )

Unfortunately (and perhaps it was always like this and I don't remember it this way) critter movement and voice to lip synching seems to be off. When characters speak their lips seem to move a bit before they should to the voices. During battles in the Helgen keep animations/movements were glitched - a couple spiders were walking on the air (didn't drop down all the way before advancing) and the Imperials (I followed Ralof) would seem to teleport a foot or two closer to the Stormcloaks when they went to swing weapons

Is this normal Skyrim behavior? Problems with running AMD Crossfire? Tips? The hardware passes extreme stress tests so it's not overclocking instability and I play BF4 on ultra with zero issues (uses 40% of my GPUs, as does Skyrim now)

Thanks for any input!

If you have any mods that affect animation your going to need FNIS, Fores New Idles in Skyrim. You need to run the .exe tool that comes with FNIS to sync up animations and such.

If that isn't your problem I'm not sure what else to recommend. Even with FNIS I have a few animations that do not start when they are supposed to, 8 to 10 second delay. I have just about pulled my hair out trying to figure out what the problem is with no luck.

I'm fairly certain that the latest patch is the cause of the lip synching issue, since everyone I know who plays the game has it. Not sure about the others.
Signatures are overrated.

Thanks for the input, Khali and perylousdemon!

Well I solved most of my problems by frame limiting the game to 59 FPS - apparently it was an issue with AMD crossfire that you can get around that way. It was getting very annoying, with me teleporting a couple feet at a time and almost dying because of it in Alvor's house in Riverwood (it was either being in the fire or clipping between the cooking pot and the wall)

It's nice to know perylousdemon that I'm not the only one with the lip synch a little off

And OH MY I CAN'T BELIEVE how wonderful the game is, between the graphical and climate mods, Interesting NPCs and Immersive Patrols. Such a joy and gas to be playing Skyrim again and playing like this. On my way into work today there was thick fog and it reminded me of Climates of Tamriel :D
