Turning off Bloodmoon Snowstorms?
Turning off Bloodmoon Snowstorms?
I started the bloodmoon expansion, and it's great, but the snowstorms make my PC chug. I already tried the quick console command way to turn off the snowstorms, but that didn't help.
Does anyone know a permanent way to disable those darned snowstorms?

Re: Turning off Bloodmoon Snowstorms?
I didn't try this.
But could you explain it a little, I'm a bit confused.

Re: Turning off Bloodmoon Snowstorms?
I do this via console command right?
I'll definitely try this out now, I'll let you know if it works.
Edit:
It didn't work. :/

I understand that, but the console command won't accept my commands...

Re: Turning off Bloodmoon Snowstorms?
Here give this a try, just enable it in the launcher and you should never see snow in Solstheim ever again (just string it back together into a proper URL since I cannot post links yet).
www dot dropbox dot com/s/u27x50tda1rcb6t/Solstheim%20No%20SnowStorms.esp
EDIT: For people reading this in the future don't bother with this one. It ONLY works for a new game and can have conflicts with other mods and end up not doing it's job.

Re: Turning off Bloodmoon Snowstorms?
You know when you input a console command and it fails to work? That's what's happening.
I'll check out the link, thanks.

Re: Turning off Bloodmoon Snowstorms?
Another thing you could try would be to play around with the settings in your morrowind.ini file (Make a backup copy first!!!) Change the setting under [Weather Snow] Max Snowflakes=1500 to some lower number to have some snow but not as much of it (in this case do not use that esp I made) you could also try adding that line to the [Weather Blizzard] section (I note it currently do not have an entry for that so do not know if it would work or not for blizzard weather)

Re: Turning off Bloodmoon Snowstorms?
Allright..I have yet to figure out what went wrong in the first attempt so I have attacked the problem from another direction...this one DO work...I have tested it extensively. Note: If you saved the game in a spot that was currently snowing you will need to wait one hour for the weather to change (unless you use the console and the ChangeWeather command to immediately change it) and after that you should never see snow again. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ffftt2j1gq7jp ... wStorms.7z
Edit:
After Posting over at the officials and getting a response from Cyrano, I did some more testing of the first option with some interesting results. I loaded up a save that had never been to Solstheim at all and still have snow everywhere in Solstheim. I started a brand new game (Cyrano's suggestion), went to Solstheim, and could not get any snow to happen anywhere. (rested in 1 hour intervals for like 2 days each place) Now considering I have seen snow in Thirsk in the past, where in the CS with just MW + BM loaded there should never be snow, I suspect some other mod I have gives it snow (not really worried about it enough to try tracking it down at the moment). So what I expected to happen was still to see snow in Thirsk and not to see it in the 3 regions I had modified. All in all very interesting. Regardless, the link in this post is the one people will want as it is the one that will work any time and not conflict with other mods.

Re: Turning off Bloodmoon Snowstorms?
Thanks for the mod!
It's working so far, I'll keep you posted if it stops working.

Re: Turning off Bloodmoon Snowstorms?
Glad you like it. As I said the first version would work, but only for a new game and it has the posibility of conflicts with other mods while this one should never conflict as it runs a start script one time each time you load the game instead of actually modifying the regions weather patterns via esp and so it will override mods that make region weather changes in that fashion. Note: If someone were to make a mod that changed the Solstheim weather patterns as a scripted event, that would override this until you re-loaded the game or manually told that startscript to run (which is always an option the way I left it setup).

Re: Turning off Bloodmoon Snowstorms?
Glad you like it Denina, any problems with it let me know and I'll fix em. (For the confused, I made her the Ash Storm version removing Ash Storms from Molag Amur Region and Ashlands Region, but leaving them active in Red Mountain)

Re: Turning off Bloodmoon Snowstorms?
Ah, wonderful. I've played Bloodmoon quite a bit now, and there's not a hitch to be found!
My thanks again.
