Something good from this is true installation to the console without needing the disc to play it.

However, this statement puts my cynicism at 'fairly high'.
Despite the system not requiring it, developers will be able to create games that will not play offline

How much memory will this take up though? I never install games to my 360 HD since I have the small 20 GB unit and it's filled with DLC and the like. So what does a usual game take up? And do we know what a standard Xbox One Hard drive will hold?

Games are automatically installed, it seems. Must be a huge drive. Blur-ray discs hold 50GB on a dual-layer disc.

You know what this is going to start, right? Free sharing of game discs. Either that or everyone will buy new games. Either way it's a win for the game developers since they will get a cut of all sales of their games.

I would assume this is for games like MMOs (Bungie's Destiny comes to mind) that have a persistent world.

No backwards comparability kind of sucks, but that might just be because of the games we play today and the thought not being able to do it anymore.
Will I want to play this year's game next year when Xbox one titles come out? Probably not as much. So I can live with it. Still confining though.

Looks slick and the video/chatting features are awesome.

It's due to the processor architecture. Xbox 360 used PowerPC, Xbox One will use x86.

The used games thing is interesting to think about. Consider a game released at $60, and let's say that there is $5 fee for a second Gamer Tag to be able to play it. You and a friend could effectively cut the cost of a game in half, if I'm understanding the system right. You each chip in $32.50, one person installs it new, the other has the $5 charge, but now you both have a new game.

That's one possibility.

Another would be that they charge $10-15 less than the new games retail price to activate it on another console, thereby making it more profitable for developers and cutting out the middle man (Gamestop) for used game purchases.

Would that price be flexible then do you think? Because after several months, a new game can cost $10-$15 less than it did at launch. So would the activation fee keep pace with that and be $10-$15 less than a new game even a few months after launch?

I would think it would follow the game's MSRP.

The biggest game I have installed on my Xbox right now is GTA IV at 6.6 GB, with Oblivion at 5.9 GB Borderlands 2 at 5.7 GB and Skyrim at 3.8 GB. And I have about 7 total installed. So around there? To whomever was asking.

And it seems that most of us can start the Skype parties on Xbox now.

Game size was limited on Xbox 360 because of them using DVDs which could only hold 8.5GB on a double layer disc. Blu-ray will hold 25GB on a single layer, 50 on double. Doesn't mean the games will be that big, but that they could be.

Very true. Boggles the mind. I wonder, would your gamertag and achievement score port over and I wonder how your friendlist would work? Like would it show "so-so is online. 360" if they didn't happen to own the Xbox one.

They were just talking about dynamic achievements on the architecture livestream, how the developers can add achievements and challenges at any time.

I am so glad you don't have to be connected on the internet to play games. That would have been the deal breaker for me. Slick new design, a lot of space, this console is looking really good.

Hmmm. I've been a bit more of an achievement guy recently, working towards some completed games. I dunno how I feel about adding it achievements at later points.

They mentioned it when talking about seeing what the players do. The example, funnily enough was:
Taking an arrow in the knee may be something that people want to do, so you can go in later and make that an achievement or a challenge.

I'm not watching the architecture stream, but I might later, but I wouldn't mind if they did something similar to what Halo 4 does. New challenges on a regular basis that can be added in, but not adding in new achievements that effect GS.

Can you pop a link to that in the OP? I can't watch it now, but if they put it up on demand later, I'll check it out then.

Appreciate it. We've got a nice collection of info going in that first post. I would think this goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. If you've got new stuff to contribute to the OP, make sure you link to the source. Most of what we know now is from the reveal video, but other sources are revealing new info, and not everyone has seen those. Always remember sources people.
