I'm about 20-30 hours in, and I've got as far as Martin needing the blood of a daedra lord part, but I'm only level 2, and my level just isn't increasing at all.

I know azura's quest can be done at my level, but the wiki says it's a very bad idea to sacrifice it, and so can sheograth's quest, but the wabbajack sounds useful, since it can turn enemies into rats via saving and reloading if the thing didn't turn into a rat, and rats are one hitable, even when your best sword only does 5 damage...

According to the wiki, all the other artifacts require being much higher levels.

The character uses restoration, destruction, light armour and blade as her major skills, if that helps...

ETA - I would like to keep Umbra, if I ever find the person, since it counts as a quest item...

I always found that the Ring of Meridia, given its lack of unique powers, was a good one, despite its relative usefulness. The Ring of Khajiiti would be a good one, too, especially if you aren't looking to make a 100% chameleon set.

The trouble is that's 8 levels away, and 100% chameleon sounds useful, or is it just like having an invisibility spell?

Also, according to this: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Daedric_Quests there isn't a ring of meridia, but there is one for Namira, but the quest requires personality below 20, and I don't have a clue how to achieve that... (I'm much better with Skyrim...)

Ah, Namira, yes. Apologies, I mixed them up.

All you need to do is drink four cheap wines, most of the time.

Ah, sounds fairly straight forward. Still, what about the 100% chameleon thing?

The Ring of Khajiiti only grants 35% chameleon on its own. It also fortifies speed by 10 points.

Which has nothing to do with Meridia, but, I digress.

Agreed. I love Dawnbreaker's anti-undead badassness.

Anyways, that 35% is a nice boost if you're enchanting a few other pieces of clothing.

100% Chameleon is like a cheat. Enemies can't fight what they can't see, so they just stand there and let you hit them.

Perhaps you should use it in the quest, to (partially) remove temptation. :D

I know, it needs to be combined with some grand soul or transcendent stone enchanted things, I've just looked it up...

Yeah, it seems that 100% chameleon is possibly an even better way of sneaking than muffle+invisibility in Skyrim, which in my experience gets past almost everything...

Definitely tempting.

wait, wait .. why isnt your level increasing ? i would say thats a bigger problem ?

to be honest , i usually sacrifice Sanguines Rose ... but thats above your level ..

i would say level up, instead of losing out on decent daedric artifacts, but if you dont care about em, go with Meridias ring or Namiras

EDIT: sorry, im stupid, Namira needs level 5, and Meridia needs level 10

I don't know, I'm using the major skills, and athletics goes up at least once every half hour or so, so it isn't like I'm not levelling the skills. About half way to level 3 at the moment.

Yeah, leveling up sounds like the real problem here. I enjoy the final showdown at high levels anyway...makes me feel more badass. :D

Personally, I'd just give away whatever artifact you won't be using in that game. I was a warrior and never used Azura's Star, so I just chucked it over to Martin no problem. Never looked back. Unless you're doing a completionist sort of character, in which case I'd weigh it more carefully, but honestly you can usually do without most of the items.

Keep Wabbajack, though - just for the hilarity it allows!

I would probably throw away Volendrung or the Wabbajack.
Volendrung is heavy, but powerful. But your character uses Blades. It Drains 5 points of health for 20 seconds, and can Paralyze for three seconds.
The Wabbajack is random and annoying. It could much as well turn a Bandit into an Ogre than a Rat. And if you can't kill the target within ten seconds, it will just have healed your enemy. The Wabbajack also has only 10 uses before it needs to be recharged, making it a little impractical.

All in all, the Wabbajack might be the best choice to throw away, as Volendrung can still be useful if you can carry it. :)
Edit:Whoops. Just saw you were only lv. 2. You can't get Volendrung. Sorry!

yeah,

Volendrung was my favourite sacrificial weapon cos i rarely ran around smashing things with 2-h preferring a sword/shield combo (also Syl in SI has a more awe inspiring warhammer if you can get your paws on it at later levels)

Yeah, that's why i mentioned saving then wabbajacking... If it's only got ten uses then it won't be that good as a make game easier device.

Does it really work on Dagon? Cool...

So probably best to just do other stuff for a while, and come back to the main quest later on at a higher level when I have more freedom on what to sacrifice?

Volendrung. Never had a use for it.

Luckily the kind people of the UESP Wiki have put together a nice little comparison of all the artifacts that can be used and the benefits/detriments of sacrificing them: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Blood_of_the_Daedra :D

I've been reading that page actually, it would be useful if there was also the level required to get the quest listed with the artifacts, like it is with this one: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Daedric_Quests

That seems like a pretty easy problem to solve.

Personally I give up the Ring of Meridia, Volendrung or the Mace of Molag Bal. I gave up wabbajack once when I was doing a max difficulty playthrough. But never give up Azura's Star, Oghma Infinium or Skeleton Key.

Yeah, the wiki recommends that one since the enchantment isn't that great and is surpassed by something from the knights of the nine add on. Trouble is that requires A) killing Umbra, B) then giving up Umbra, which considering it's one of the best swords in the game, and zero carry weight because it's a quest item, seems a rather bad deal.

How an you be 20-30 hours into the game and only be level two? That seems almost impossible. Regardless at level two I believe you can get the Wabbajack so that seems the best ber if you want Azura's Star.

Level up and throw away the Mace of Bolag Mal.

This is from the one who actually seeded in that "Blood of the Daedra" suggestion list in the wiki. The Mace is a piece of junk.
