@Arch-Mage Matt: Well spotted! Yet another one ending in "mdz", common re-joiners who always leave an ad URL and sales blurb in their sig, exactly as I stated earlier.

@SniperOverkill9: Awesome! If I get my way, THAT's going into the next rewrite of the rules!

Not sure if that means that they were dealt with already?

Yup. Either Cam or H8Ball took care of them, I should think. They're awesome spamcatchers.

It does mean it's already dealt with, Jeff. In fact, it's one of the ones I dealt with, since I put SPAMBOT in the Status field to remind me I've banned 'em (the member list and profile show no "banned" status). Other mods put it in the Occupation field. Doesn't matter, as long as we see it. We don't delete spambot accounts, btw, so that they can't use the same username more than once. They make life difficult for us, so we make it difficult for them. Two can play at the "evil genius" game. :Twisted Evil:

I'm gonna invent a new forum term here. We have the Banhammer (rarely used), but a more awesome weapon is the Spamwhammer (frequently used, and 10x as heavy)! Er, can I have a new one please? I'm running out of duct tape!

My Bangun is far better but have some duct tape anyways. Also, all of the spambots I catch have the word spambot in the occupation field. It only makes sense...

That's because it was one of the ones I dealt with. Only Cam is sad enough to do that :P

"Yeah well we have extended rights..." :D

When I first saw "Occupation: Spambot", I thought it was a sick joke, made by the member. I never made that remark for the few bots I've dealt with, but it's really a good idea. Even better if we could get it written in green or something - that way others could see there's something special going on?

You don't have some super mod powers that let you see if a user's been banned when you look at their profile?

Yep. It's a inactive member who's never posted. I checked it out months ago as a potential spambot, but the Website link is just some French cartoon artwork on what's likely a personal website. It's not blatant advertising and breaks no other rules, so I left it alone. You never know, that member may become active.
