So this thread is for everyone to talk about your gut reactions based solely on the information we have right now (teaser trailer and the fact it's a TES strategy card game).

Forum rules apply, so keep it civil, otherwise have at it!

I'm excited to see how the game plays out. Almost seems like they're going with races instead of colors, which would make for some interesting decisions in deck building, especially if you're trying to stay true to canon/lore.

The artwork shown didn't even look Elder Scrolls-y at all.

That's my gut reaction.

My first reaction was "ooh! I wanna see the art and lore!" I liked the images they'd shown already, and it reminded me of some of the art in some of the tie-in books, albeit a little more cartoon-y. As far as the designs - like for the wraith and nereid - they based those on the ESO models.

My second reaction was "I hope they do this right." There's a lot of ways it can go wrong. I've heard a lot of people wondering if it'll be like Hearthstone; I haven't played that, but I have played a lot of Rage of Bahamut (my team was placing in the top 100 for a while). I enjoyed that, so I'm open to the idea of an ES digital card game. RoB, at least for its first two or so years, was pretty good about making it possible for non-paying players to be competitive; they've made it a lot harder now and I really hope an ES one wouldn't do something similar.

But, we haven't seen anything about it yet, so, guess we'll have to wait and see.

I really hate the art they've shown so far. It's so bland and non-brand-specific it could literally be from any fantasy universe but the Elder Scrolls. I hope that's just a poor marketing decision like the CGI trailers for ESO, and not the way the people and monsters on the cards will really look. I'd also prefer an actual physical card game with cards I can collect in real life to this digital stuff, to be honest. I get the concept of card games. I've played some Magic, Yugioh and Poke'mon in my life. What utterly baffles me is a video game of a card game. It's just silly.

My reactions; "Hearthstone." "That doesn't look like Elder Scrolls art." "This does not interest me in the slightest."

If it earns them a profit to make more, better games, then hey, all the better.

"Why are they trying to copy World of Warcraft so badly" is exactly what I thought. I mean, TES is special because of its lore and style but this just seems like a cash grab to me.

My gut reaction was: the folks at Bethesda, especially Pete Hines, must be having a blast developing this one. Pete's spoken about his love of card games many times in the past over years gone by. The fact they love it is reason enough for its existence in my mind.

Similar situation with Fallout Shelter.

Lord Naarifin has ceased to be a challenge and is instead a ridiculously overpowered poorly designed boss. Got me to quit legends and wish this game was never a part of Elderscrolls lore or universe. Very poor showing.

I still haven't played a card game that has approached Magic, honestly. That may be due to a combination of Magic having YEARS of development and refinement under its belt and also the fact that I've invested a heap of money into it coloring my opinion, but still, I see this and I don't see the mechanical flavor that I like in card games.

Hope the art gets a little more... Proprietary.

Magic is a tough one to beat. I rarely find a card game that I think matches it. I don't like the mechanics of this game. Its really not feeling very elderscrolls to me. It just seems a license for someone. Fallout Shelter was a great example of a Fallout supplemental game. Plus playing Shelter for so long before Fallout 4 had me trained somewhat for the settlement construction of Fallout 4.

I fail to see what this game brings to elderscrolls other than a distraction. The matches do not feel very elderscrolls. I would much rather spend hours playing Gwent. A complete different idea, but it very much felt like it belonged with the Witcher.

From the small amount I've played, I definitely like it more than Hearthstone. Maybe it's the fact there's two different lanes or there's Elder Scrolls characters instead of Blizzard characters, I don't know. My gut reaction is good so far.

I've never been interested in these sorts of card games, but I installed Legends because it's free. I played it a few times but wasn't taken by it. I've started playing it more because of the recent promotional tie-ins with ESO, and also to start collecting the daily rewards. It's taken some getting used to, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. Still haven't reached the stage of creating my own cards or decks, just play with whatever I've gotten for free.

I'm curious about whether people like it better or worse since it's been handed over to a different developer?

I like it better, but my initial impression was harsh. I am very curious if they're going to give it as much a chance as they did ESO. Because it's growing, they have a roadmap now, but it took us years to go from "I have no clue if this game is just going to get shut down tomorrow" to them having a plan for everything for the next year.

It does seem like they're trying to push it more, considering both the daily login rewards and monthly reward plus any promotional tie-ins like the free Elsweyr cards and card backs for purchasing ESO:Elsweyr as well as the free ESO Doom Wolf mount for playing TES:Legends and winning three (3) rounds.

I'm also hoping that TES:Blades gets officially released soon, so we can all start to discuss it. I've been warming up to it as well, a good bit quicker than I warmed up to Legends.
