Has anyone ever experienced problems with the "additem" console command not working? I'm playing Morrowind again and I noticed that it isn't. The weird thing, though, is that the console says that it did go through, as in I don't get a "Compiled script not saved" message. Yet the desired items don't appear in my inventory. I tried this out with several items and I'm incredibly perplexed. Any ideas?

Try

player-> additem "item ID" X

(where x = quantity of item desired)

Or, toggle 3rd person, click on your avatar, and enter

additem "item ID" X

When you click on your character in 3rd person view, your character name should be displayed at the top of the console window.

It's possible you could be neglecting to enter the quantity value after the item ID. It's also possible you've misspelled the item ID, so it can't hurt to double check.

YOU ARE A GENIUS!!!!! MY MORRhero! I've gone thru FITS trying to "additem" to myself: whereinafter I get no console error message, my console command turns purple to trick me into thinking it worked, Then I eagerly check my inventory within which THERE IS NO ITEM, yet my ENCUMBRANCE has increased by the weight of the item I wanted! (((deep sigh))). Eventually, I loresplained to myself, ok, certain items have the ability to throw a "curse of chief's burden" on you, to remind you you are a thief,,,,,,blah blah, so I went with my cute little fan-fic-lore-add, would go to any Temple, ask for any random blessing, then go thru the whole pain in the neck of removing the additional encumbrance. Hats off to you, my unknown friend who probably isn't on forum anymore, three cheers and huzzah!
