In all honesty, AtM, I don't know what I'm doing with Tanya. Sort of just doing whatever I want before I settle down and start roleplaying. I suppose this is just a "learn the game" sort of character. She's the first one that I haven't compulsively deleted and restarted because there was something I didn't like.

The babies look like they're wrapped in wood or some uncomfortable thing. I don't know if this is just me, but your face looks kinda... goth or something.

Yup, it is a black metal/goth concept, i never liked a lot morrowind's faces so i edited it, of course it can be improved by lots.

Now imagine having a whole caravan behind you without you noticing, then stopping to gather a plant and find eight of those mothertruckers.

Add some Spriggans, Bears, Berserkers, Wolves, and a Fryse Hag or two into the mix and you'll have a real party.

Mauin had the urge to create a Beast Race character. She doesn't know why, but this is the result.

How to you even get it to that far? My view distance is at Max, but I can't see half of what you see. Maybe it's just the fog that always screws me over.

Nah, it's not the fog. I'm using a mod to be able to push it up that high. Specifically, Morrowind Graphics Extender. Besides allowing you to push the view distance up as far as you want, it also changes a fair few things, like allowing non 4:3 aspect ratios and enabling AA and AF. It's quite cool. I don't use it with any other graphics mods, but people who do get some pretty amazing results:

For the record, I have absolutely no idea what other mods are being used to get it looking like that, nor do I have any idea of the computer power required.

Those look absolutely amazing. I love the one where almost all of Vvardenfell (I'm assuming) is showing.

Yeah. Quite incredible. I've turned the view distance up that far on my game, but the frame rate drops to near 10 sometimes. Not really playable.

I could never quite get MGE to work properly, but I'm assuming that's because of my incompetence. Those view distances are awesome though and really make the game look so much better.

@Moeboid,

The second set of graphics you posted are most likely the MGSO mod which I am currently using and makes the game basically look like those pictures. However the draw distance in your screens still looks longer than the "default" settings in MGSO.

I have noticed a few specifics with MGSO that are incredible, for example when it rains if you are outside but under shelter the rain will not come through the roof, which believe it or not is actually still the case even in vanilla Skyrim. Another detail that blows my mind is the shadows, best way to describe it is that when the sun moves the shadow moves along with it in real time and looks really cool. For a comparison in vanilla Skyrim (on highest settings I should add) the shadow moves a set distance periodically so for example if you look at the shadow for a minute it will all of a sudden randomly extend about half a cm and then stays still until the next movement. It looks really weird and after playing Morrowind with the MGSO installed its a bit of a let down to think that a modern game has (in some areas) less graphical complexity than a MOD for a game that is 11 years old.

However I am torn between liking certain components of the mod and not so much others. I am not a huge fan of the new sounds added by it (hence the S in MGSO) and also some of the game-play mods involved are not to my liking. The thing I dislike the most are the loading times that can occur in-between cells, especially noticeable when you change cells really fast by using something like the scroll of icran flight (whatever it is you get from the guy that falls to his death). My PC is pretty powerful and I put these loading cell things down to the mod not being made by professionals and not being properly optimized, could be by design as they have no restrictions or could just be too hard to do.

Anyway I would be really interested to at least try the graphics mods the way you have them set in your screens. Was it just MGE and nothing else?

@GoatLiver

Yeah, MGE and nothing else. I did screw around with other graphics mods for a while, but I never found any that I liked more than the standard graphics - despite the difference in resolution. Let me know if you want any help setting it up.

At the risk of sounding ungrateful - I have always wished that MGSO had a custom install option. A lot of players won't necessarily want every single mod it incorporates. For MGSO to be "perfect", IMO, every mod would be documented and selectable in the MGSO Options exe - right down to the last texture replacer. Of course, this would mean the majority of the content couldn't be packed into one extractable Data file (as it is currently). So I understand why Kingpix didn't go this route.

Hey Moeboid that MGE is a pain to get working, just made a clean install of Morrowind any suggestions for getting it working and what settings to use and/or exception lists?

@GoatLiver - What exactly are you struggling with? I can give you my distant land settings if you like, but whether they'll work for you depends on what hardware you have. My processor seems to be the limiting factor and it's an i5 750 running at 3.8ghz.

Would love to get your settings, the main problem I had was after I generated my distant land I started getting all these errors. It was something about a snowflake its a pretty common issue as far as I know but it was on a clean install and I had just checked the game was working a few minutes before, once I generated the land I got these errors which were not there before. What did I do wrong?

Also I see that if you don't have the right exceptions things like doors won't show up and some things that shouldn't show up like markers and spawn points ect, may appear in the distant land. Wondering what you did as far as that is concerned.

Cheers.

Ahh, yeah, exceptions. I left it blank. It just means you get glitches like the Ghostfence existing in the distance even after having destroyed the Heart of Lorkhan (it disappears as you approach it), or the Raven Rock settlement being invisible until you get close. Everything appears as it should once you're close to it, it's just the stuff in the distance that isn't always right. I've never even tried to fix it, I just accepted the glitches.

From memory the snowflake thing will go away if you install Morrowind somewhere other than the program files folder (I use C:/Games/Morrowind). Google it though. I'm only 90% sure that that fixes it... I'll PM you my settings tomorrow.
