Free Plug-ins Finally Got an Official Release

Sat Jun 18, 2016 3:32 am

So this probably isn't big news to anyone, but it turns out the GOG release of Morrowind actually comes bundled with the official plug-ins, which have until now only been available as obscure free downloads from elderscrolls.com. This makes it the first official release - only thirteen years late!

Very strange that it was only pointed out to us now, but in fairness the GOG page doesn't mention them and they're turned off by default. Still, might be a good reason to pick up a DRM-free copy of the game if you'd prefer not to bother with manual downloading and installation of the blasted things ever again.

Tis about time. I just can't wait to try the free plugins!

That's cool to know, though I've already manually downloaded all the ones I care about lol

The plugins have dirty edits. You should clean them via something like Morrowind Enchanted Editor or something.

I mean....It's a nice thing they did, but the free plug-ins to me are very miss. I liked the swamp sounds, and the island they add in, but I never felt like they were vital.

Still, nice they did this, and I'm sure many have been unaware that these even existed.

None of the plugins were vital. They were made, presumably, as a proof of concept for what the newly created Elder Scrolls Construction Set could do if a user wanted to use it.

Want a few atmospheric tweaks? Sure, you can do that by adding in meshes and textures for dragnoflies and other bugs, as well as audio files to tweak how a specific region works.

Siege of Firemoth? A simple landbuilding and dungeon designing piece.

Area of Effect arrows were presumably for enchanting.

Armors were to show making armors.

Adamantium armor sold on the mainland, was probably just them being nice and sharing the cool armor from Tribunal (this plugin is nice, because it's cool to be able to buy and use that stuff before Tribunal.)
