The Public Test Server. It's where they put updates and new armor appearances and stuff so that the public can help test them out before it goes live. Nothing's permanent on it - the characters are just copies of your live characters to try so every now and then they get overwritten with a newer copy of it, and any other characters you might make on the PTS are wiped before long too.
