I'm just wondering since this is an MMO which allows for post-launch content, does anybody think it's possible new playable races will be added in future updates, if yes which ones would you like to see?

Many of the available options just do not make any sense, Falmer are essentially monsters, Snow Elves (yes there is a distinction due to the Dwemer) are so rare that it would be absurd for there to be hundreds of them running around, the Dwemer are all but completely gone, the Chimer no longer exist, the Lilmothiit are most likely extinct, the Kothringi are all but gone already, proper implementation of the Maormer would require an obscene amount of effort (and their isolationist policies would make it odd for them to leave their homelands), and the Imga would also require a lot of work to get into the game correctly. Even for this time period, there are almost no options available to make adding more races feasible. It would honestly be easier to just create a new race and make it playable than to use virtually any of the options listed. There would be roughly the same amount complaining about lore for either option.

I'd like to see more of the different kinds of Khajiit.

That would be a good idea (although a number of them would have to be unavailable due to the varied nature of Khajiit). I do wonder how it would be treated, though. If I had to guess, as most of the Khajiit they would use aren't that overly different, it would just be a visual option versus a major game feature.

Ayleid - non-existent. (or so few in number that there is no distinction)
Chimer - became the Dunmer via curse/blessing of Azura.
Dwemer - somewhere between dead and gone from the universe, divine beings who've transcended the mortal universe and the skin of some wrecked robotic god. with one exception.
Falmer/Snow Elf - A) Falmer are little more than blind highly intelligent animals, and B) Snow Elves are even rarer than Ayleids.
Imga - You could have that one.
Kothringi - extinct.
Lilmothlit - extinct.
Maomer - Not suitable for a player character.

Honestly, asking for playable daedra is more plausible than all except for two of these.

I realize that it's pretty unlikely that new races will ever be added to TES's playable roster, and I'm not advocating it, honestly I was only curious to see if the fanbase was interested. Although only the Dwemer and Chimer should be completely out of the question due to being dispatched through supernatural means (Numidium/Dunmerization).

The Others are still slightly possible.
Ayleids: Mostly Killed by Alessians/Assimilated in other populations, Survive as primitive tribals in Cyrodiil.
Snow Elf: I admit this one is highly unlikely.
Kothringi: Only very recently extinct, not impossible that a few still survive/no issue of "What the hell are you supposed to be?" when interacting with commoners.
Lilmothiit: Unlikely I admit
Maormer: Usually hostile to the Tamrielic races but desperate times call for desperate measures.
The Only real problem I see is that so many players would select them for their Mary-Sue Speshul Snowflake alter ego that these supposedly rare races would be all over Tamriel, but Gameplay/Lore segregation right?

Never, ever going to happen. But playable Akaviri. Make it happen. :P

on a more serious note, why can't they make a 4th faction, and include these hostile races? Seems to me there is a lot of untapped story in the Maomer

Honestly, I wouldn't mind Maomer to become optional, certainly would make for a great Faction themed expansion, maybe even tie in the Sload as new enemies along with Thras.. plus there is always that tension between Altmer and Maomer<_< so there's that.. Honestly, I am.. well iffy with Imga.. considering adding the Maomer would be a risk of its own.. this needs no explanation on why a unfamiliar beast race would too..

In regards to extinct races or akaviri.. no.. never.. and dammit there better not be some dragon break excuse >__< I'm fine with unlikely allies.. I am not okay with impossible scenarios

Imga are a race native to and still very much around in Valenwood. Think of a talking Gorilla with less hair from shaving wearing a flash suite of clothes, pretending to be a high elf. That's an Imga.

So, I guess Sload is out of the contest.

Like Maomer, not suitable for player use.

I don't think Maormer are necessarily unsuitable, sure they hate everyone else but they can learn to play nice to solve a mutual problem no? And hey at least they aren't a race of sociopathic, immobile, morbidly obese, Jabba the Hutt wannabee slugs.

I think the Maomer would be a great add-on. Have them be their own faction, hostile to all. loyal only to themselves.

So first people complain that ESO "destroys" lore for miniscule things like including small towns that shouldn't exist during that time period and then they want races that have nothing to do with Tamriel added? Colour me slightly confused.

I've never been a lore hound ;)

I'm always for something new that will add to the game

While the Maormer are usually isolationist and stick to their island, they do stick their noses in Tamrielic affairs from time to time, ESO being set during one of those times. So it's not all that lore unfriendly or absurd.

Actually I see no issue with the Sload being playable, from either a gameplay or lore perspective. Can't wait to see them added in :)

Actually.. the Sload don't sound that bad for a stand alone expansion<_< I mean, they'll obviously behave differently than any other race and ppl may not be so keen with them roaming Tamriel in hordes.. Would make an interesting mini-game, Sload PC's vs a Dominion fort.. You could even do the same for the Covenant but instead with Dwemer Automatons>_> Not certain whom the Pact would get.. each region is too diverse.. Maybe remnants of the Akaviri.. Still, just me rambling on an idea in the moment

Still, whether they are playable or just generic enemies/possible npc's then I'm content. Sload are just far too interesting, being one of the only mortal races to unite all of Tamriel against a common foe.. :Twisted Evil:

I didn't even include them in the poll because it sounds to difficult to implement from a gameplay perspective, their just so different c'mon they don't even have legs! I'm not really sure how Zeni would get around to making them work in the gameworld.

Silly poll given that almost half of the races would be extinct at the time of ESO

I think if we added some of the Daedric races it could make for a lore-friendly race (if done correctly). Like for example, when you die you get sent to Oblivion and have to fight your way out of a Daedric lord's realm. And if you die in Oblivion, you get sent back to the last save like normal. Just a thought. If they did it, I'd want Xivilai, Kyn (Dremora), Aurorans, Aureal (Golden Saints), Mazken (Dark Seducers), Daedroth (as a sort of Daedric answer to the beast-races of Khajiit and Saxhleel) as options. Mostly just the Xivilai, Kyn, Aurorans and Daedroth though, as they could fit best if integrated.

Well I am going to dream that there are hidden Akaviri snakemen that didn't die and they will be a playable race.
