@Andere: Please also edit the Website field to leave it empty (remove the ad link). Also check for any other advertising blurb in their profile and sig, and remove it as well. Spammers/spambots often join not to post, but simply to LEAVE advertising behind for members to follow. By not removing the advertising content, members CAN still follow it, and you haven't foiled the intention of leaving the advertising there in the first place.

Spammers/spambots are leaving "carrots for the donkeys". If you haven't heard of this term, it stems from the old joke method of getting a stubborn donkey moving by tying a fishing pole to it with a carrot dangling right in front of the donkey's nose. The donkey is tempted by the tasty carrot, steps forward to eat it, but the carrot moves WITH the donkey, so it takes another step, and another, infinitely repeating. Result? The donkey strays off and gets lost. The only way to stop it is to remove the carrot so the donkey has nothing to tempt it, so it stays put and doesn't stray.

Apologies if I'm unintentionally referring to our members as "donkeys". It's only a metaphor, folks! :mrgreen:

I'm pretty sure this is a spambot. They play Xbox on the PSP, and they seem quite interested in resumes. It seems familiar, though...wasn't one just like this already dealt with?

They've filled out all the other fields correctly though...maybe they're an actual person. But advertising is against the rules so I think some sort of action is in order either way.

2. Google AdSense "is a free, simple way for website publishers of all sizes to earn money by displaying targeted Google ads on their websites"
3. MSN is Microsoft's "contains everything"

Not quite sure about it, but apparently they are approved to appear here. They're not hazardous bots, that is.

Someone else surely knows this better, but I thought I give you something: nothing to worry about.

Basically all they do is read. They don't make posts, and they don't even have profile pages. They scan the pages for what I beleive to be search terms.
