Post subject: | The Dimensional Arena |
You awoke with a start, covered in a cold sweat. Something unshakable pervaded your thoughts; something was wrong. Merely moments later your sight was flooded with blinding light, and you felt yourself tugged and pulled in every direction by a force not unlike a strong current underwater. Minutes pass and you wonder how long the sensation will last, and how long it will be until you can see more than the bright light. Soon enough, you start to feel the pulling slow down, and you begin to get a sense of being somewhere. You stand in a cell, provided with a bed and facilities, as well as a locker in the corner of the room. Above the cell bars flickers a television screen, the picture forming into a hooded figure. "Greetings, contestant." speaks the figure. "Welcome to the Dimensional Arena. You have been selected by we greater beings to slaughter and be slaughtered for the entertainment of the Interdimensional Community. We have watched you and your escapades for a time, and believe you to be a perfect candidate to be a gladiator in this great ring of sport. Steel yourself and be ready soon; and make yourself comfortable. Welcome home; you won't be leaving anytime soon." ______ The Dimensional Arena is a combat-heavy, comical RP with a purpose to break away from the more serious tones of the current RPs (in the vein of Finding Acunasti), by providing a 'what if' situation where characters of many different UESP RPs can take place in the slaughter. This is an open ended roleplay, meant to inspire rather silly situations. A character from the Mass Effect universe could potentially meet one from the Elder Scrolls Universe, and be brought together in combat to fight off a dragon, for instance. This will not be for the faint of heart; there will be blood, and lots of it! The Dimensional Arena, chaotic as it can be, does have a few regulations; -Any immunities a contestant may have acquired through equipment or training shall be removed, to provide a more likely chance of being brutally maimed or incinerated. Immunities and resistances given through race (such as a TES Dark Elf's Fire resistance) do not count and are still maintained. Armor of Fire Resistance, for example, would confer the advantages of standard plate armor, but would not confer a fire resistance bonus. -Contestants may use whatever equipment they are comfortable with, but cannot use something not acquirable from their own universe unless it is picked up in the middle of combat. An elf from Dragon Age cannot wield a gun out of the gate, but may pick one up and try to figure it out to varying degrees of success. Side effects may include brutal maiming and incineration. -Each contestant able to use magic shall abide by the laws of magic established in their universe of origin. Should conflicts arise between two differing laws of magic from differing universes, any number of things could happen; most likely explosions resulting in the contestants being brutally maimed or incinerated. -Any contestant attempting to escape or usurp the arena authority shall be brutally maimed or incinerated. -Different matches may have different rules. Any contestant breaking the rules will be brutally maimed or incinerated. -Most matches have a 'life count', where in the case that a contestant is killed (by being brutally maimed, incinerated, or other cause of death), they will respawn nearly instantly. Think of Valhalla of Norse mythology. Each match may have a different respawn limit, and after the contestant runs out of lives, they are removed from the match and placed among the rest of the spectating contestants. Some matches have objectives other than brutally maiming or incinerating the opposition, and in such matches, infinite lives may be the rule. Characters are broken up into 'teams'; the player (you) will take the role of the 'sponsor' of this team (a wealthy arena spectator willing to sponsor the contestants). Members of the team cannot be in the same match at the same time unless rules allow otherwise. And now for actual RP rules. Pretty basic stuff since this is going to be a pretty laid back RP. -I will decide combat outcomes and will strive for maximum awesomeness and hilarity. If you have a funny idea on how to kill a creature or opponent then go ahead and post it; I won't have an issue so long as it involves a mook NPC and not another player character. -You can have no more than 5 characters on your team. The conditions for eligibility as a contestant are as follows; ---The character must have appeared in a UESP Roleplay. No off-site roleplays or characters you made in a game. ---You must be okay with the character dying multiple times in various fashions; including but not limited to being brutally maimed or incinerated. ---The character must be yours. No using other people's characters. If you are a DM, then you are free to use an NPC that YOU created. ---Your character's powers may be somewhat nerfed to create a more or less 'balanced' arena experience. -Remember that this is for fun! I don't know how long it'll go on, so remember that fun and laughs are to be had here. -If anyone would like to co-DM this, I would be happy to have you. -You are free to pull out a character and replace them with another. Just don't go over the 5 character limit. Here is your sponsor and character sheet. Fun! Code: Sponsor Name (can be your username, a name you made up, literally anything): Team Name: Team Members: Code: Character Name: Roleplay of Origin: Fictional Universe of Origin: Physical Description: Brief Description of Story/background (For those unfamiliar with the RP of origin): Combat Abilities/Style (Be descriptive): ___ Team Listing: Ragnvald Mac Domhnall (Baloth-Kul) - Team Hamburger Happy Meal Lord Dovah the Insane of the Nine Divines (Thelastdovah) - Team CHEESE! ??? I think you named your elcor 'Magnus Kill'slay'. And though the cougar TECHNICALLY breaks the rules, I'll go ahead and allow it because the cougar joke is practically synonymous with you at this point. TLD, I wish I could let you use Sheo, but that's not technically an original character. D: Though it makes me look like an ass right after I let Baloth use the Cougar. I'll think about it. |

Magnus Kill'slay, riiight, that's the name. Edited that in. Although Baruna the Brick [&@%!] did have a certain ring to it...Oh well. |

Allow the madgod to appear! You know you want to and there is a large pile of waiting for you if you do. Or I'll just use his identical twin. Sheodorath. |

Know what, TLD? You're right. Screw the rules, TSO, take your time. c: I think I might actually put some NPCs of my own in... IDK. I realize that being 'that guy' and being a DM with your own PC in a RP is kinda... favoritism-ish? IDK. |

Yeah, about the sweetrolls. I ate them all. Fair enough about the madgod powers but I will turn someone into a sweetroll at some point!(as a form of fatality.) |

Really, the Madgod would be uber nerfed, so th true benefit he holds is comic relief. In terms of combat, he's a gentleman.. with a cane.. and obviously knows magic.. other than that, he's bound to intentionally make things worse.. "Oh we got a giant sized monster to fight? Mmmm let's see.. Nah.. nah.. I think it should be bigger.. and have a top hat.. yeah that looks just about right" Anyways, this is a rather casual feel I do so enjoy, so expect me to tag in Here's my sheet

Beta, the point of the background bit is to give a summary of what they've done in the RP of origin as well so that people who didn't participate in it can understand what your character has done despite not actually participating. Please update with something brief. c: |

Never was specified on whether a link to their sheet would suffice or not. Did alter and fixed. I must ask, while the RP progresses, we can add in new characters(namely from new RPs) so long as we do not surpass the limit. If anything, my 2 characters I anticipate to play in Blacklight 2, and I'm hesitant if Don Leon would be a drastic change to add in |

Post subject: | Re: The Dimensional Arena |
Sorry for not clarifiying that. Yes, you can add more so long as you don't go over 5. |

Post subject: | Re: The Dimensional Arena |
Can we subtract? Though in reason to add a substitute.. and not be an overused privilege |

Post subject: | Re: The Dimensional Arena |
You can add and subtract members from your team as much as you like. The only rules are that you follow the guidelines (if your character violates those guidelines, ask me and I might okay it; see Baloth and the Cougar) and that you don't go over five. |

Just wondering Union, would a Magi/Demon pair from WoN count as one character or two? |

Post subject: | Re: The Dimensional Arena |
I kind of want to know too, seeing as Uzariel does have a companion. Granted however Alma is apart of him, and acts as his morphed weapon I did however feel it unfair to include Cerberus with Caius if only because it's a luxury than anything significant.. plus it's not like he can't use magic to conjure of a hell-hound<_< In my view, if they can work independently without drawbacks, they already are 2 characters rather than one, kind of like with Cerberus |

Justice knight wrote: Just wondering Union, would a Magi/Demon pair from WoN count as one character or two? Crap. I know who you are speaking of.. And I'm significantly narrowing down my character pool. Yultia/TNG(So [&@%!] many on TNG.)/SC/WoN. Ghnn one or two from one at least.. or maybe I could just go for broke and get the best from my characters. |

Post subject: | Re: The Dimensional Arena |
I'm not too familiar with WoN, Justice. But if the two characters are inseparable and part of one another, I wouldn't have any issue with it. Also, everyone's accepted if you needed some confirmation on it. I'll make a list on the OP at some point. |

Dont forget the Loki bleasings morpj got at the end of the rp. Didnt he also get one of the powers.. wait no he didn't. |

Post subject: | Re: The Dimensional Arena |
The Loki blessing was air manipulation, which would probably be a bit overpowered, but I'll add it if Union says it's ok. |
Author: | Unionhack [ Thu Nov 21, 2013 6:27 pm ] |
Post subject: | Re: The Dimensional Arena |
Air manipulation should be fine, but I'll tone it down if need be. Things will be very, very chaotic if all goes to plan (or not, even!), so powers may fluctuate madly depending on the whims of the arena's coordinator. |

And Pain reflection remember? I recall it just being imperfect reflection like bouncing off in a random direction. |
