Mephala's Web

This is the game of lies, the game of deceit, and the game of betrayal. Mephala's game, her deception... Her Web.
Camlorn, in High Rock, is as close to perfect as a place can be. In the Royal Castle, wealth, comfort, and happiness all thrive, from the King himself to the lowliest servant.
Perhaps that's why it was chosen by the Lady of Silk. The trust and truth must have been one of the most alluring targets in all of Tamriel.
But, how is one to know? It is impossible to discern Mephala's motives. Only one thing is certain... Castle Camlorn has been chosen.

Mephala's Web is an RP based not on loyalty, friendship, and honourable combat, but on lies, intrigues, affairs and betrayals. In fact, there will be no combat whatsoever. In many ways, it is similar to the Molag Bal game. You shall create a character, a denizen of the castle, from a list of archetypes. You will be free to play with these archetypes as much as you want... But you must choose one , unless there is something you want that you think should be on the list. In that case, PM me. As the game starts, you will be PMed two names... One will be a fellow player. For reasons of your own, your character despises the character of another player. It is your objective to bring total ruin to that player, not through violence, but by playing to their loves, fears, passions and desires. You will also be PMed the name of a character you love... whether romantically or sexually, fatherly or motherly, brotherly or sisterly. Even respect or pity. Your objective is to try to make life easier for this other player, and protect them from harm. However, both of these secret passions must remain a secret. If you wish to do something secretly, PM the result of your activity to me and I will post it. For example, you would do this if you wanted to plant one player's underwear in another's quarters. :wink:

DA RULES:
1. Nod godmodding.
2. Proper grammar, or don't join.
3. No Mary Sues or Gary Stus. They will be denied. Simple as that.
4. Speaking of which, I reserve the right to deny or kick anyone for any reason.
5. If you give away your cards, in PMs or other threads, you will be kicked.
6. 1 character per person.
7. PM your characters to me for confirmation, and recommended changes.
8. Have fun backstabbing...
If you read the rules, include the phrase Varsa Baliim somewhere in your initial post.

Dramatis Personae
The King, Lord Jaekar Brand II~ Camlorn's middle aged King. Well known for his swift mind and swifter sword arm. Under his rule, Camlorn has become renowned for fair courts, but severe and immediate punishment. He is often called Jaekar the Jealous, because of his eternal suspicions of his Nordic wife.
The Queen, Lady Agga {Karthwater} Brand~ The King's 29 year old Queen, youngest daughter of a prominent Haafinheim noble. Tall, golden haired and beautiful, still smooth and red of cheek and ever fiery of eye. She is known for her generosity with her wealth... And rumoured for her generosity with her charms. The rumors of her infidelity are fuelled by her jolly nature, and her distance from her colder, older husband. She brought several nordic traditions, such as the Thane and Housecarl, to Camlorn.
The Prince, Lord Ippolit Brand~ The King's son, and heir to the throne. He is the very image of the stereotypical prince Charming, with his shining breastplate and flowing blonde hair and delicate features. He is the fantasy of every woman from Wayrest to Daggerfall. He is known throughout the Empire for his deeds of heroism and chivalry. What the tales don't speak of are his utter stupidity, his pettiness, and his uniquely blatant idiocy.
The Princess, Arina Brand~ The King's daughter. Young, beautiful, cultured and elegant, she has long, flowing black curls and lively blue eyes. Common gossip says she wasn't the King's daughter, but a [&@%!] born of an Imperial bard who had passed through the castle 18 years before.

YOUR CHARACTER
It is important to know that no part of the RP will take place outside of Castle Camlorn's walls. Your character must be an inhabitant of the castle, and they must adhere to one of the following professional archetypes... Unless you PM me another suggestion and I approve. For god's sake, have as many passions, fears, likes and dislikes as you can. Without flaws, the RP will die inevitably.

I will be preparing a story driven sci-fi RP during the holidays. Original universe. Decisions made by the players will be important and will influence future events and the ending. Interaction between characters will also play a fairly important role as I will be dynamically shaping the story around them. I'd like to know who might be interested, so that I don't go through all the work in vain.

My people, the so called Guardians say they will protect us. They say they will maintain order and peace in the world. But let me ask you this: how can the economy thrive when an individual can create piles of gold by just wishing it? How can balance of power remain when a man can lift up entire mountains with his mind? How can religion survive when a mortal can be anywhere he wishes and another-one is virtually invulnerable? And how can we remain calm when someone can level entire cities with a flick of his wrist? This Guardians say that they will watch over us. But Who watches the Guardians?


-King Pathos of the Human kingdom of Horgart speech when the Guardians presented themselves.




In the begging. The Great beings created existence combining their powers. Everything was created. The Great beings started feeling lonely so they created the Mortals. They were stupid, violent and likely to die. The Great Beings finally imprisoned the anti-beings in the center of the planet for them to never couldnt watch over all the mortals so they created a DemiGod called: Moraty. It was supposed to watch over all the mortals. But the Great beings had enemy's, the anti-beings whose sole propose was to end everything that their brothers created because they were jealous of their ability to create and they could only destroy. The Great beings finally imprisoned them in a device the Moraty created called an Isolator. After many Eras the mortals continued to evolve and the Moraty started to grow tired of their stupidity. One tragic day the Anti-beings imprisonment broke freeing them to the world. Alone the Moraty couldn't defeat them so it asked the Great Beings for help but they had vanished. So as a last option the Moraty created 5 tools:

The Tool of Mater The Tool of Control The Tool of Eternity The Tool of Ending The Tool of Presence.

Each tool had a unique almost God-like ability and they were to be given to 5 mortals of each race with the requirements to wield them. This mortals are now known as:

The Society of Guardians


Races
Each player must choose a race that hasn't been chosen by another player.



Playable
Human
The least evolved and most ignorant of all five main races. Their homeland is the continent of Ossayra. They adapt quickly and sometimes can be really ingenuous. Their vision of the world is limited only to Ossayra and Eloisia where they trade goods with their cousins the Botars. They have hear legends and myths of the Eliqans, Pyndemoneans and Oroburians but most of humanity hasn't seen them. Their main patron is the Great Being of Agriculture.

Eliqan
The most evolved of all five. They have gotten to the point were they don't need legs and just hover in the air. Their intelligence mixed with a massive ego makes them one of the most hated races. They maintain a good relationship with the Oroburians since they share the continent of Casium. They have many colonies in Pyndemonea. Their main patron is the Great Being of Conflict or War. (Also know as the Lord of debates). They asexual.

Oroburian (also Ouroborian)
Scarab like humanoid race. They live in a massive cave system that spreads through two desserts located in Casium and Eloisia known as the Northern and Southern Orobus. They are a pacifist race that is rumored to have a massive underground library with all the knowledge in the World. They maintain a good neutral relation with all races. Their main patron is the Great Being of Time.

Botar
Cousins of the humans. They live in the eastern side of Eloisia. They are technically the most technological advanced race in the world due to their discovery of gunpowder and steel. Their stature is much shorter than the humans and their upper limbs bend in three points both up and down. Their main Patron is the Great Being of Nature. (Pretty Ironical right?) Even though they have gunpowder and steel they swore to never use it for marvelous purposes.

Pyndemonean
The biggest of all races. Their massive size sometimes achieving 3.4 meters of height grands them an advantage in the frozen and rocky biome the inhabit. They are best known for their massive constructions in the mountains. With their massive hands they can mine living rock out of the mountain and can carry up to half a tone. They an extremely pacifist race and the less known. Even the Ouroborian library doesn't contain much of them. The Eliqans established colonies in their home continent fifty years ago. Their relation is like a guest-host relationship. Their main patron is the Great Being of Life & Death.

I myself often require a significant amount of time to fathom interesting and presentable characters, and consequently will offer the most advantageous circumstances to my fellow roleplayers in regard to a game which I am currently planning. Essentially, given the apparent lack of variety in setting of late, I've resolved to create a superhero roleplay which should present an excellent opportunity for us all to stretch our legs and to engage in a refreshing game which is hugely entertaining. Obviously, this game will not begin for some time, given the number of roleplays already planned for 2012- I'm only posting this so that you might begin preparing potential superheros now as to avoid common cliches.

Anyone up for a strategy RP/game involving the province of Morrowind and a House War. Ideally looking for 5 players with a degree of knowledge in the area of Morrowind's Great Houses and associated Lore. I'm thinking of making a war RP, modern - set a few year in the future (2014 maybe). However, instead of you and an army or a squad it's just a small team of spec-ops soldiers from China, UK, US, France, Russia, Israel, Germany... everywhere. There'll be a story. They are "Illegal" but they're the "goodies". There will be mechanics, a small economy, you can buy gunship support, bombing runs and guns. You'll have to look after your gun and you can buy upgrades to suit the mission. Each mission will be different and will be undertaken with a partner, NPC or otherwise. There will be many objectives. You get money at the end of each mission. Varying largely. Every so often, everyone takes part in the same mission... with me. Leading up to the finale!

would anyone be interested in an Eragon based rp? I would like to try to start one up, when im not sure. But the setting will be set a few thousand years after the ending of Inheritance (The last book for those who dont know), and Eragon has has been training the dragon riders, (who are our characters) And while he stays there, the rest of us go back and forth from our home to Alagaesia to help keep the peace there.
