KT: Why did I make Sherwood try to escape again? How tedious, Aarah. Too late to change it, I expect. >_<

TA2: Union, you going to respond for this guard or should I? Or should I just assume a response?

Quote:
Zudeel - Palace

Zudeel showed a tinge of visible worry for a moment upon hearing that they where dealing with Daedric artifacts, but quickly regained his composure. These fools are dealing Daedric artifacts? That's what I thought, but I didn't know they actually where pursuing. I want no direct part in these artifacts. I'll let them deal with the consequences of dealing with Daedric artifacts., Zudeel thought to himself. Zudeel returned to lock Grelok in the eyes and said with neutrality,"As long as I don't have to deal directly with these artifacts as I said earlier, I'm in. I don't want any compensation from the Daedra and I know dealing with them is asking for trouble the majority of the time. Well then, if you need an armorer, Restoration mage, or a close range fighter, I'm your man. Still, we're just allies at the moment. Maybe you can change that someday..". Zudeel then walked away went up to a guard.

"Excuse me, guardsman. Is there anywhere one could spar here? Failing that, is their any help you might need keeping this feast in line or helping people in the feast?", Zudeel said with his stoicism. He awaited a response.

I posted this a day or two ago and never got a response. As a player I'm not really supposed to be saying what NPCs say.

TA2: Totally my fault, man, there were a lot of posts in the interim and I forgot to throw that in there. Let me get on that real quick.

TA2: A question since I am a bit in a rut about how personify the Skyrim Thieves' Guild in TA2 during this time period.

Game wise, Skyrim's Guild was more of a mobbish mafia kind of deal, while Oblivion's was a gang of merry men. Were the two organizations the same, differing only because of provincial locations or perhaps time (200 years is a lot, after all), or are they completely different Thieves Guilds?

Basically, just not really sure how to roll the Thieves Guild in the TA2 setting, being approx. 30 years before Oblivion and thus ~230 before Skyrim.

Thoughts?

TA2: I'm not really certain, myself. Not wholly like Skyrim's...Skyrim's guild is essentially an arm of Maven Black-Briar, and she ain't around yet. Nor should it wholly be like Oblivion's, where they're pretty much a charity. I'd say they should be their own thing, more along the lines of Morrowind's. They just steal stuff for money, maybe avoid the impoverished more out of practicality (don't really have anything of value, and if they end up starving to death because thieves stole all their stuff, the guard would crack down). MAYBE a couple decent people, maybe a couple mafioso types, but ultimately, "we steal stuff so we can have nice stuff".

Business and pleasure. "We have fun here, and we bring in the dough, but cross us, and you'll be spending the rest of your life in an icy dungeon."

TA2: Fair enough, but how about Doyens and the Grey Fox and all that?

And would it be an entirely different organization from the one in Cyrodiil, or just another chapter of a Tamriel-wide Guild?

TA2: Morrowind is a good glimpse into what to expect, even if they were at odds with non-imperial factions.

Skyrim is a poor comparison, likewise for Riften of that age. The Thieves Guild then was in stark decline, becoming little more than thugs with little in terms of a code. And with the recent wars and struggles, times would of only been tougher. Maybe not all charters are as pious as in the heart of the Empire, but they set an example and a rep to uphold, almost like a moral obligation (and as you said, the poor dont pay well). Even in Morrowind where they faced more aggressive competition, they had a level of professionalism that you'd come to expect. If I'm not mistaken, in that charter some of their elite also lived a dual purpose as 'good do-ers'. I woudnt be too surprised if every so often a charter not only gets a leader that brings in the profits, but also follow the moral path Grey Fox set. Not to say all members are all dandy, but when times are good why be dirty?

Speaking of.. Riften. Even being both a capital for a hold and a major base for the Guild, it's often served as a major trade hub till it met it's decline in 4E. I suspect it would be closer to what we saw in ESO and not the Maven Black-Briar run'd backwash of a city we saw in skyrim. I mean, as of now in TA2, it is Windhelm that was in the decline due to corruption.. I kind of want a change of scenery :/

I hope that makes sense to ya

From what I gathered given how different it was in Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim the Thevies Guild seems to operates on a province by province basis in both how they are organised and who runs them. All three provinces run things differently. So I'd just make it up if I were you.

Fantasy settings often have Robin Hood like figures, they might steal a little from the rich and give to the poor, but they never really challenge the underlying structure. See, The Friends of Red Jenny in Dragon Age. You never really seem to get people like Wat Tyler or John Ball. Despite you know, Wat Tyler and The Peasants Revolt being a real thing that happened (in fact, there were numerous peasant revolts.) And they didn't even want to get rid of monarchy like what happened with The French Revolution. It's odd.

TA2: I view them as seperate organisations that just use the same trademark name.

Fallout: I'm pretty sure you aren't, but I hope people aren't waiting for me to make a post. Because that's happened before, the players were waiting for me to make a GM post but there was nothing they did which would require me to post.

GWN: I've posted. It's more or less up to Baloth the Kul, Union the hack, A very dirty spaceman and Aarah of the North to post. I could, suddenly break character, pull a Face-Heel Turn, cap everyone in the back of the head but i think, i would be banned from Kerr RPs if that happened. :P

Yes, and Howard took your photographs and fingerprinted you before you left his house for the first time, so it's on his record even if the police don't have it. Burn the house down, hide the evidence.

@Rook: It's alright, I probably should have posted something. And now I have.

D&D: Don't be..... O-O. Oh [&@%!], they will set the house on fire won't they? Chu and Henry, i mean. Some of us can probably survive the burning aspect but the whole collapsing and explosion aspect? I doubt it.

Ah, oh yes, I forgot about that - so many moons ago. I was going to have Tobias wipe the knife down, but thought I would check before bothering. Ok if I add that bit now?

Diesel: Are you suggesting the police investigate arson? Why I never.

But this does make me think of a story I heard of a group playing Shadowrun where to "hide the evidence" they decided to turn a robbery into octuble murder and blow up a building. Yeah, because that will attract less attention.

Yeah, you can edit that in.

D&D: I'm not saying it's Mages but it's Mages. I have a bit of a confession to make. Because i know that we're about to enter the endgame, i feel that we don't really have a chance to develop our characters much. It may be a bit silly and just a case of expecting it to be a normal length Kerr RP but i feel that we don't really get that much of a chance to develop. Just my two cents there.

Diesel: Edited me post. :) Gotta get rid of that evidence. The burnt wound mark is a bit suspicious though.
Kerr said the the endgame would be quite long, so maybe time for character development there?

GWN: Fingers crossed for a successful repair job!
