I actually think it fit pretty well with the plot that he left the group - he would have likely been shunned by everyone after the whole incident, so it made sense that he decided to leave and go off on his own.
If you decide to come back in the future though, they'll (hopefully, if nothing bad happens) be there to say hello again.

...Yeah...Yours was almost immediately after having drank, and was against an inanimate object, arguing and fighting as though it were alive. A food fight is person v person, with food as the weapon. Different mechanics. Duh.

It was a sodding good roast! Nordic Roasts are capable of wrestling and the reason why they aren't in Skyrim is because we would not be able to handle the sight of a roast chicken attacking us and turning the game into a amusing wrestling match. That and no-one wants to admit they died to a Roast Chicken
