The Dimensional Arena

Wed Nov 20, 2013 3:02 am

You awoke with a start, covered in a cold sweat. Something unshakable pervaded your thoughts; something was wrong.

Merely moments later your sight was flooded with blinding light, and you felt yourself tugged and pulled in every direction by a force not unlike a strong current underwater. Minutes pass and you wonder how long the sensation will last, and how long it will be until you can see more than the bright light.

Soon enough, you start to feel the pulling slow down, and you begin to get a sense of being somewhere. You stand in a cell, provided with a bed and facilities, as well as a locker in the corner of the room. Above the cell bars flickers a television screen, the picture forming into a hooded figure.

"Greetings, contestant." speaks the figure. "Welcome to the Dimensional Arena. You have been selected by we greater beings to slaughter and be slaughtered for the entertainment of the Interdimensional Community. We have watched you and your escapades for a time, and believe you to be a perfect candidate to be a gladiator in this great ring of sport. Steel yourself and be ready soon; and make yourself comfortable. Welcome home; you won't be leaving anytime soon."

______

The Dimensional Arena is a combat-heavy, comical RP with a purpose to break away from the more serious tones of the current RPs (in the vein of Finding Acunasti), by providing a 'what if' situation where characters of many different UESP RPs can take place in the slaughter.

This is an open ended roleplay, meant to inspire rather silly situations. A character from the Mass Effect universe could potentially meet one from the Elder Scrolls Universe, and be brought together in combat to fight off a dragon, for instance. This will not be for the faint of heart; there will be blood, and lots of it!

The Dimensional Arena, chaotic as it can be, does have a few regulations;

-Any immunities a contestant may have acquired through equipment or training shall be removed, to provide a more likely chance of being brutally maimed or incinerated. Immunities and resistances given through race (such as a TES Dark Elf's Fire resistance) do not count and are still maintained. Armor of Fire Resistance, for example, would confer the advantages of standard plate armor, but would not confer a fire resistance bonus.
-Contestants may use whatever equipment they are comfortable with, but cannot use something not acquirable from their own universe unless it is picked up in the middle of combat. An elf from Dragon Age cannot wield a gun out of the gate, but may pick one up and try to figure it out to varying degrees of success. Side effects may include brutal maiming and incineration.
-Each contestant able to use magic shall abide by the laws of magic established in their universe of origin. Should conflicts arise between two differing laws of magic from differing universes, any number of things could happen; most likely explosions resulting in the contestants being brutally maimed or incinerated.
-Any contestant attempting to escape or usurp the arena authority shall be brutally maimed or incinerated.
-Different matches may have different rules. Any contestant breaking the rules will be brutally maimed or incinerated.
-Most matches have a 'life count', where in the case that a contestant is killed (by being brutally maimed, incinerated, or other cause of death), they will respawn nearly instantly. Think of Valhalla of Norse mythology. Each match may have a different respawn limit, and after the contestant runs out of lives, they are removed from the match and placed among the rest of the spectating contestants. Some matches have objectives other than brutally maiming or incinerating the opposition, and in such matches, infinite lives may be the rule.

Characters are broken up into 'teams'; the player (you) will take the role of the 'sponsor' of this team (a wealthy arena spectator willing to sponsor the contestants). Members of the team cannot be in the same match at the same time unless rules allow otherwise.

And now for actual RP rules. Pretty basic stuff since this is going to be a pretty laid back RP.

-I will decide combat outcomes and will strive for maximum awesomeness and hilarity. If you have a funny idea on how to kill a creature or opponent then go ahead and post it; I won't have an issue so long as it involves a mook NPC and not another player character.
-You can have no more than 5 characters on your team. The conditions for eligibility as a contestant are as follows;
---The character must have appeared in a UESP Roleplay. No off-site roleplays or characters you made in a game.
---You must be okay with the character dying multiple times in various fashions; including but not limited to being brutally maimed or incinerated.
---The character must be yours. No using other people's characters. If you are a DM, then you are free to use an NPC that YOU created.
---Your character's powers may be somewhat nerfed to create a more or less 'balanced' arena experience.

-Remember that this is for fun! I don't know how long it'll go on, so remember that fun and laughs are to be had here.
-If anyone would like to co-DM this, I would be happy to have you.
-You are free to pull out a character and replace them with another. Just don't go over the 5 character limit.

Here is your sponsor and character sheet. Fun!

Fictional Universe of Origin: Fallout
Physical Description: It's a cougar. Blood-matted fur and scars from bullet wounds.

Fictional Universe of Origin: StD
Physical Description: It's a white bunny rabbit. Blood-matted fur and a scar running horizontally across its back.

Possibly and probably infected with zombie virus; hyperviolent tendencies. Split in half with an axe by her tearful owner on suspicion of being infected.

Character Name: Magnus Kill'slay
Roleplay of Origin: Mass Effect: Reclamation (2.0)
Fictional Universe of Origin: Mass Effect
Physical Description: An Elcor. About 7 feet tall, grey skinned, walking -slowly- on four thick, muscular limbs. Constantly puffing a cigar, drinks heavily, and beats the crap out of all of your preconceptions of intelligent extraterrestrial life.
Brief Description of Story/background: Genocidal robotic squid from deep space attack, and a squad of combat specialists are deployed to one embattled planet with the mission of rescuing a high ranking diplomat. Laser guns go pew-pew-pew, and a big hulking alien (Magnus) descends from orbit and kills everything.
Combat Abilities/Style: Damaged guided missile launcher strapped to his back; completely defunct. Uses his fists and feet (slow but very muscular) to kick ass. May use his bottle of whiskey as a weapon, either as a bludgeon, a stabbing/slashing implement (if smashed beforehand), or (unlikely) as a molotov cocktail.

Ze Dovah shall join thoust Roleplay.

Spoiler:
Sponsor Name (can be your username, a name you made up, literally anything):Lord Dovah the insane of the nine divines
Team Name:Flappypants CHEESE!
Team Members:Sheogorath,Karona the younger, Senduge

Character Name:Sheogorath
Roleplay of Origin:Madgod's Realm(NPC)
Fictional Universe of Origin:The Sheogorath Scrolls featuring M'aiq the Liar and his fishsticks. The Elder Scrolls
Physical Description:Sheogorath is a 5ft Humanoid with white pupilless eyes. He has a very fine white beard and hair that is combed back. Wears a stylish attire which consists of erm... it's quite hard to describe actually. If you've played Skyrim, he's wearing that. And carries a cane which is actually his staff. His skin is blue and similar to a dunmer but do not call him one.
Brief Description of Story/background (For those unfamiliar with the RP of origin):Sheogorath is the Daedric Prince of Madness. His sphere contains everything about madness and his realm is the Shivering isles. Where the souls of the mad reside unless another prince has driven them made. Or mortals that he plucked from Nirn and dumped in a pile of rabbit poo just for [&@%!] and giggles. He passed down the title of madgod from himself to himself during the 3rd era. And loves cheese. Oh and can be a massive dick at times. His artifacts range from forks to staffs to loincloths(probably). Oh and he hates the name Ann Marie. For some reason.
Combat Abilities/Style (Be descriptive):It's [&@%!] Sheogorath. Nuff said. Magic. Yes, the madgod prefers to use magic. From making your clothes becoming tighter then a miser's purse to summoning metoers made out of erm... cheese. To summoning giant fire breathing rabbits to tearing out your heart and farting on it. He has Wabberjack, a staff that has random effects and the Staff of Sheogorath which can freeze time for a short amount of time. He can use Daedric Magic and is not afraid to fight dirty or clean. [s]Or turn into a giant purple dildo and slap people to death. As for his style. It's Sheogorath, it's insane. The fun side. Or the dark side. Depends really.

Character Name:Senduge
Roleplay of Origin:Revised World of Night(PC)
Fictional Universe of Origin:World of Night
Physical Description: Senduge is 5'3 tall and has an average frame. He has black eyes without any pupils. His hair was very tidy but currently mess. It's bright green. He has two short ears and a small pointed nose. He has two giant butterfly wings which are bright pink and is capable of flight. He has a small chin and is a bit pale. He looks like he is in his twenties.
Brief Description of Story/background (For those unfamiliar with the RP of origin):Senduge was taken as a child by a Fae and was twisted to suit his master's need. The Fae viewed Sen as a belonging and forced him to eat dog food. He wiped Sen's memories of who he was and implanted false ones.He was conditioned to love the master and his family unconditionally and to obey any orders given by them. Sen acted as a servant and bodyguard to the master. The Fae charged him with the safety of the family and to bow to their every whim. They abused him and ordered him to do everything they wanted and make more work for him. Or get him to beat himself up for their entertainment.
Combat Abilities/Style (Be descriptive): Style:???????????? Ablities. He can use the power of rocks. His body can turn into rock and acts as armour. His hands can turn into very sharp jagged rocks and he can fly. He lacks the means to use ranged attacks apart from flying at his target. He is prone to going berserk and literally doesn't know what Mercy is. (Berserk is only something he does in this not RWON)

Character Name:Karona the Young
Roleplay of Origin:the Champion's Songs(PC)
Fictional Universe of Origin:The Elder Scrolls
Physical Description:Average size with a fair amount of muscle. Black hair long hair which has been tied back. Green eyes.(was my very first character so forgive the lack of detail)
Brief Description of Story/background (For those unfamiliar with the RP of origin):
Combat Abilities/Style (Be descriptive):Style:Two handed and a typical tank. For those that don't know what a tank is, it's a melee heavy build designed to take a lot of damage and to dish out a lot. They are always teh best front line fighters. For her abilities, it's a two handed greatsword, so she can floor people to the floor and smash through defences easily if the enemy lacks the strength to block a greatsword. She does have a ranged attack via a bow and arrow but it is rarely used. She has heavy armour and is slow as a result but her armour enables her to take more damage. She believes she can take on anything and is invincible.

I'll add the rest later. And i apologise if it sounds like I'm telling you what to do as that is not the case. Just couldn't think of another way to word it.

Re: The Dimensional Arena

I think you named your elcor 'Magnus Kill'slay'.

And though the cougar TECHNICALLY breaks the rules, I'll go ahead and allow it because the cougar joke is practically synonymous with you at this point.

TLD, I wish I could let you use Sheo, but that's not technically an original character. D: Though it makes me look like an ass right after I let Baloth use the Cougar. I'll think about it.

Ngggh.. So many characters to choose... Ngggghhh NPCs.. Mhhhmmmm mhhhhhmmm mhhhhhhhmm!

Magnus Kill'slay, riiight, that's the name. Edited that in. Although Baruna the Brick [&@%!] did have a certain ring to it...Oh well.

DO IT! Allow the madgod to appear! You know you want to and there is a large pile of :sweetroll: waiting for you if you do.

Or I'll just use his identical twin. Sheodorath. :P

Re: The Dimensional Arena

Wed Nov 20, 2013 10:10 pm

Know what, TLD? You're right. Screw the rules, I have money this is just for fun. Of course, I'm going to have to cut back on the Madgod's powers a bit so that he can't simply turn everything into a sweetroll.

TSO, take your time. c:

I think I might actually put some NPCs of my own in... IDK. I realize that being 'that guy' and being a DM with your own PC in a RP is kinda... favoritism-ish? IDK.

Re: The Dimensional Arena

Wed Nov 20, 2013 10:14 pm

Yeah, about the sweetrolls. I ate them all. Fair enough about the madgod powers but I will turn someone into a sweetroll at some point!(as a form of fatality.) :Twisted Evil:

Re: The Dimensional Arena

Wed Nov 20, 2013 11:07 pm

Really, the Madgod would be uber nerfed, so th true benefit he holds is comic relief. In terms of combat, he's a gentleman.. with a cane.. and obviously knows magic.. other than that, he's bound to intentionally make things worse.. "Oh we got a giant sized monster to fight? Mmmm let's see.. Nah.. nah.. I think it should be bigger.. and have a top hat.. yeah that looks just about right"

Anyways, this is a rather casual feel I do so enjoy, so expect me to tag in :heart:though it may take some time to think of a name :S

Here's my sheet
Beta's Sheet:
Sponsor's Name: Malicious Artificial Intelligence Inc.
Team's Name: Team 10110
Team Members: Uzariel, Caius,...

Character Name: Uzariel the Fallen
Roleplay of Origin: Yultia: Land of Magic
Fictional Universe of Origin: Yultia
Physical Description: A tall, lean scarecrow made of stitches and cloth, but beneath is a dark ink like substance. The essence itself represents his true form, while the other is but a shell of his choosing. Other than the fabric and dirt, this body of his does strongly mimic his former self, though lost in tragedy and death. Linked to his very being is, more or less, a familiar that mimics a black Raven. While the two are the same, this independent entity is known as Alma and is better seen as his silent wisdom
Background: Much of his history is lost and cast in shadow. To what of his past? A student of grand potential, raised by the very Academy itself as an orphan. As the years passed, he graduated at the top of his class as a Seeker and latter continued his stay as a mentor. Not much is known of what happened to him, but that never stops rumors. As he is now, changed and wicked, he remains outside of the walls to the Acadamy, tending to the nearby graveyard and it's invading forest. To them, he is now known as it's Keeper, and it is with the dead he watches
Combat Style: Naturally gifted like a spirit of the dead, he can phase and fly by will, though his power extends far beyond his roots if only for his corruption, but is only directly tied to that of spirit. Aside from those of a Fadesti, he owes a great value of power in his control over Nether. While a force of pure destruction, much of it is left untapped via choice, but is not without equal.
As per his style, he is a Scythe Meister of superb skill and a Seeker by trade. While he can apply his skills to other weapons, they generally reflect his savage lust and martial skills. While is range of weapons can be attributed to Alma, he also processes a unique blade that attains his polar opposite in power. Still, by and large, he is rather casual in nature and prefers to mock his foes rather if only for the sense of placing a handicap on himself.

Character Name: Caius Dracon
Roleplay of Origin: Silicon & Sorcery
Fictional Universe of Origin: Earth?
Physical Description: With a strong, built frame, he stands at 5'6 with white hair in complement to his grey skin and synthetic body. He retains a small trimmed beard in accordance to former military regulations. He processes a select few tattoos and multiple scars. In general, he still looks like soldier just as he is at heart
Background: His early life was surrounded by ruin, and so as a child he only ever knew how to fight. From being a full fledge member to a rebel group, a roaming freelancer, and lastly a bounty hunter, his only means of making a life was by fighting. Forced to take an orphaned girl from an old friend, he was forced to create some stability and now looks after her like a brother. To this may be why he has grown soft, but he is still as professional and cold like you would expect. To the only thing that would never change, his morality and the values to life that his Rebel brothers instilled to him
Combat Style: Since his training as a child, he is a well endured marksman and a preferred long-range sniper. Long range combat his without a doubt when he's at his best, especially when coupled with his signature heavy sniper that was originally designed for anti-tank gorilla warfare. While he does indeed market himself as a sniper, he is not without paired with similar lethality in close combat. Either by side arm, martial, or spell, he is highly effective for a fight. Really, by comparison he does fall short in terms of medium range. His only aid for his lack of offense in this case is his defense, or rather, his benefits of being a full body cyborg.
Coupled with his traits, he is also skilled in magic. While he has his experience, he prefers to focus sole on illusions and non-elemental spells. This is not a restriction but rather a choice, however much of it does help for simple stealth or unexpected combat.

Beta, the point of the background bit is to give a summary of what they've done in the RP of origin as well so that people who didn't participate in it can understand what your character has done despite not actually participating. Please update with something brief. c:

Re: The Dimensional Arena

Thu Nov 21, 2013 4:33 am

Never was specified on whether a link to their sheet would suffice or not. Did alter and fixed.
I must ask, while the RP progresses, we can add in new characters(namely from new RPs) so long as we do not surpass the limit.
If anything, my 2 characters I anticipate to play in Blacklight 2, and I'm hesitant if Don Leon would be a drastic change to add in

Re: The Dimensional Arena

Thu Nov 21, 2013 4:34 am

Sorry for not clarifiying that.

Yes, you can add more so long as you don't go over 5.

Re: The Dimensional Arena

Thu Nov 21, 2013 4:36 am

Can we subtract? Though in reason to add a substitute.. and not be an overused privilege

Re: The Dimensional Arena

Thu Nov 21, 2013 4:46 am

You can add and subtract members from your team as much as you like. The only rules are that you follow the guidelines (if your character violates those guidelines, ask me and I might okay it; see Baloth and the Cougar) and that you don't go over five.

Re: The Dimensional Arena

Thu Nov 21, 2013 7:47 am

Just wondering Union, would a Magi/Demon pair from WoN count as one character or two?

Re: The Dimensional Arena

Thu Nov 21, 2013 9:45 am

I kind of want to know too, seeing as Uzariel does have a companion. Granted however Alma is apart of him, and acts as his morphed weapon
I did however feel it unfair to include Cerberus with Caius if only because it's a luxury than anything significant.. plus it's not like he can't use magic to conjure of a hell-hound<_<
In my view, if they can work independently without drawbacks, they already are 2 characters rather than one, kind of like with Cerberus

Justice knight wrote:Just wondering Union, would a Magi/Demon pair from WoN count as one character or two?

Crap. I know who you are speaking of.. And I'm significantly narrowing down my character pool. Yultia/TNG(So [&@%!] many on TNG.)/SC/WoN. Ghnn one or two from one at least.. or maybe I could just go for broke and get the best from my characters.

Details added.

Re: The Dimensional Arena

Thu Nov 21, 2013 3:16 pm

I'm not too familiar with WoN, Justice. But if the two characters are inseparable and part of one another, I wouldn't have any issue with it.

Also, everyone's accepted if you needed some confirmation on it. I'll make a list on the OP at some point.

Re: The Dimensional Arena

Thu Nov 21, 2013 4:38 pm

Added the details to my characters.

Ma'siq meeting Sheogorath should be fun. :D

Re: The Dimensional Arena

Thu Nov 21, 2013 5:43 pm

Dont forget the Loki bleasings morpj got at the end of the rp. Didnt he also get one of the powers.. wait no he didn't.

Re: The Dimensional Arena

Thu Nov 21, 2013 5:45 pm

The Loki blessing was air manipulation, which would probably be a bit overpowered, but I'll add it if Union says it's ok.

Re: The Dimensional Arena

Thu Nov 21, 2013 6:27 pm

Air manipulation should be fine, but I'll tone it down if need be.

Things will be very, very chaotic if all goes to plan (or not, even!), so powers may fluctuate madly depending on the whims of the arena's coordinator.

And Pain reflection remember? I recall it just being imperfect reflection like bouncing off in a random direction.
