I am trying to move my main house contents from Lakeview to Winsdstad without horse (since it got killed after 240 levels of traveling with me and i don't want different horse) by using carriage but i can't go to neigher Solitude nor Morthal only got to Markarth and from there i can't get to any other major city nor to Morthal.
I DID asked to go to above locations but when i get into carriage the driver only says "hurry up" and the sort and nothing happens. I now sitting in carriage for 10 minutes while trying every major destination having carriage or solitude/morthal to walk from there.
Is there a fix for carriages or i have to press some button to go where i want or all this is hopeless and i have to walk from Markarth to Windstad on foot slowly?
and yes i had that same horse since before level 10 till week ago (its near 800 hours of play time) when it got killed in massive unexpected melee after fast traveling to Sarthall between group of six bandits, two giants , mammoth (i am still guessing how did giants and mammoth ended up there) and two frost trolls and me with horse since i was on trip around Skyrim to sell junk from more than 10 quests, bunch of dungeons and Windstad Mine production. and ofcourse only I survived it tho i had to put on my Daedric Battle suit and Song of Fire and Ice dual Daedric war axes but it was too late for my horse.

ciberzombie, I found that carriages didn't work the way I wanted them to. For instance, if I was supposed to be escorting someone somewhere, it seemed to me that I should be able to take a carriage there, but it doesn't work. When you say you're trying to move your belongings, are you completely encumbered? Skyrim won't let you fast-travel while encumbered, so that probably includes carriages as well.

yea i learned that the hard way, then i after that looked on wiki about carriages and it DID say that when encumbered you cant use them. so still there is/was a way for me tho i didn't used it often since i had horse not long ago it to put on "Gold Diamond ring of Uber Loot"® (seriously over enchanted ring of carry weight)

I always want to own every available house, but then I hate having my stuff spread out between different houses, plus I hardly ever spend any time in any of my houses except to drop off more stuff! So the last time I started a new game of Skyrim I decided that whatever rewards I got in a given city, or from quests in the immediate area or given by people in that city-- even if the quest took me somewhere else-- I would keep in that city's house. But then I still couldn't remember which city had which stuff, or I'd forget to stow some bit of loot and then forget where I'd gotten it from and which city it "belonged" to. :)

I use the 'modav carryweight' console command to tweak my characters encumberance to a nice, clean 1000 weight limit. This is made in respect, of course, to whatever you choose to cap your Stamina spending. I cap myself at 250 Stamina, so I'll increase the carryweight by 625 (or 525 if I use The Steed Stone).
