I am a new potential Skyrim player and I am a bit confused as to whether I should buy Skyrim or Skyrim: Special Edition for my PC. Is Skyrim: SE even available for PC or is it only for PS4 and XBox? If I can only get Skyrim for my PC, how is it in comparison to the Special Edition? Once I purchase the game, does it come to me as a CD to load onto the computer or will it be a download with download codes or how does it work? This will be my first time installing an RPG on this computer.

You can get Skyrim and Skyrim: SE in both digital (download it from a site) and physical (a disc that you insert into your computer) format for PC, it's really whatever you prefer. As to which is better, I'm a console gamer and can't be of much help. I believe that one of the deciding factors in whether you should go for SE or not is what you plan to do in terms of modding. Not too sure about that, though.

As a PC gamer, hopefully I can help. As I understand it, SE on PC only improves the graphics. Which can't hurt. But if you really wanted to improve graphics, you would get mods, because a decent selection of mods can do much better than SE for improving graphics. So basically, I would say, it can't hurt to get SE, but if it costs more, I wouldn't get it unless you're not into modding.

Thank you both! As for modding, I was thinking of going with maybe the Campfire and Hunterborn mods since I like the survivalist stuff. But some of the others I've seen out there look really good. Are there any particular mods that improve the graphics that you would recommend?

So if you want to use mods get regular skyrim as they won't work with SE.

Even if you get a physical disc, it will come with a Steam code and requires an internet connection for additional downloading.

The Campfire and Hunterborn mods are available on Skyrim Special Edition, so you should be safe to get it.

Sorry I should have specified that most mods won't work with SE. Some will. So if you are wanting for example quest mods or the unofficial patch or something like that you would need regular skyrim.

SE isn't just graphics, but also increased stability, a 64bit exe, and more modding potential - and likely, many future mods will be SE-exclusive...

The unofficial patches are available with the Special Edition.

The Noble Skyrim Mod HD-2K is on the Skyrim Nexus but if you go to the FILES tab you will see that there are versions for both original Skyrim & Skyrim SE.

The mod covers a lot.
I've been using it and Skyrim looks mahvelous!
Check out the IMAGES tab.
