I haven't played Skyrim in a long time. But I now have a gaming PC, so I've transitioned from PS3 vanilla to a modded Skyrim – wow, so much better! I've encountered a problem with a quest, a problem to which I haven't been able to find a solution anywhere, which is why I'm now writing here. So! Elisif just won't give me the quest to become thane. I've done everything, but the "Anything else?" dialogue option doesn't appear. Apparently, at least one other person has had the same problem (http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/615805-t ... m/64306979). Up until now, I'd been having some issues here and there, but I'd always bypass bugs or the sorts thanks to console commands, but now nothing works. If I type "player.sqs favor252", I get stages 0 and 200 with a 1 (as in completed), but all the ones in between (10, 15, 20, 25) have a 0, which is very strange because, according to the wiki (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Thane_of_Haafingar), 10 is supposed to be the buying of the house (which I have done).

I imagine some mods might be interfering. The only mods I have that affect the Blue Palace, Elisif or Proudspire Manor are: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/79746/?, http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/70495/?, http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/61140/? and http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/60329/?. I can't think of any other mod that could or should interfere with my problem. Never before have I encountered this problem. I don't even know if I should call it a bug. Any solutions? Thanks.

Hmmm. If you complete the 5/5 favors quest before Elisif asks you to, that will cause the bug where you have to help a sixth person in order to progress. Since you said the person in the GameFAQs article was having the same issue as you, and they said it was NOT the aforementioned bug, I'll assume that goes for you as well. I found that article to be a little confusing, though. When you ask a Jarl "Is there anything else you need?", it is THEN that they tell you "There is room for a new thane in my court". They will then tell you to purchase property and help the people of the hold. You're not supposed to buy the house and help the people, and THEN look for the "Is there anything else you need?" If you've bought the property and helped five people, the appropriate dialogue should be simply "I've helped your people." They'll then name you Thane. I know because I did this about a week ago in order to get Jordis as a housecarl and then marry her. I literally went to Solitude for that purpose and then blew through the steps. Clear out Wolfskull Cave, then take Torygg's war horn to the Talos shrine, then ask "Is there anything else you need?", then buy Proudspire Manor, then help five people, then return to Elisif and say "I've helped your people." That was it. On a side note, there IS a little mini-quest to visit the house after you buy it, but I don't think failing to do that would mess anything up. If I had to guess, I'd say that you've fulfilled the thane requirements too early and so cannot get the appropriate dialogue. Helping a sixth person should fix that, however, so beyond that I have no idea. Sorry friend. I don't suppose I've helped much, but.....
