Heimskr no longer preaching

For some reason, Heimskr is not preaching in my current run of Skyrim. At first, I thought that it was a symptom of updating the Unofficial Skyrim Patch (the only mod that I have that I know of that would affect Heimskr's behavior). However, the folks here deny it: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/ ... /page-840I read that if you talked to Gerdur or Alvor too much at the beginning of the game (in order to get free stuff), it makes Heimskr no longer preach. Is this true, and if so, is there a fix, besides starting a new game and not talking with either Gerdur or Alvor outside of scripted dialogue? Here is my load order.

That is interesting. I was wondering what might be causing that. If I start the game in Whiterun, he works. But if I do a normal start and do all the Stormcloak stuff at Riverwood, he is silent for the rest of the game.

ADDED:
Yep. Heimskr works great if I choose to follow the Imperial instead of the Nord out of Helgen and I don't lollygag in Riverwood (just run through it without talking to anyone) and just head to Whiterun. Other minor NPC issues in Whiterun are fixed as well (like merchants saying their sale pitches as you go by).

If I use Alternate Start Live Another Life, Heimskr always works. But ASLAL causes other problems for me.

i did all the talking with alvor the smith in riverwood at beginning of game and got all free stuff i can and gone to whiterun only after some time (15 or so levels) and that preacher still does his "work" and i don't have no mods to play part in this not even unofficial patches only hearthfire dlc
