Crescius Caerellius cannot be found!

I'm trying to get the Ancient Nordic Pickaxe in the quest from Glover Mallory. He's told me to go find Crescius but I can't find him. His house is always locked and when I picked the lock and went inside, the quest marker hovers in the centre of the room. He's not in the mine - I even used my Detect Life spell to make sure he wasn't hiding.

I'm on PS3 so have no console to access - what can I do?

If its just getting the pickaxe, there are others available. The only advantage of that one is its zero weight until you hand it in to Glover.

Unfortunately, the concurrent quest in Raven Rock Mine, which also requires Crescius, is part of the quest line for gaining a house in Raven Rock, so you may be out of luck for that too.

I had that on the 360 - I started Crescius' quest before getting the pickaxe from him, and he disappeared from the game leaving only a marker pointing me to his house. If this is your problem, I think you have to finish 'The Final Descent' first.

I haven't finished 'The Final Descent' yet, so we'll see if he returns after that. I have some Draugr Deathlords to annihilate first

I went back in, this time with a full Marked For Death shout, Faendal sporting the Sanguine Rose, and a shock-enchanted ebony bow. The fight lasted about 7 seconds

After I killed the Dragon Priest guy and made my way out of Bloodskal Barrow, Crescius and his wife were sat in their home and I got the pickaxe!
