Elise, Nord. Chaotic Good. Heavy Armor, Sneak, Archery, Smithing. Takes most mobs out without them ever knowing she was there. The ones who get close have the privilege of being cleaved by her Glass Greatsword. Otherwise a nobody - doesn't care to be a Dragonborne or for politics. Keeps to her crafts, lends a hand when necessary.
Me if I were a hot female Nord, hah.

Gurney, Breton Male, Lycanthrope, Stormcloak "whether true patriot or infiltrator is yet to be seen, but i like their honesty and simplicity, i think Ulrics successful challenge pretty much settled the Nord/Imperial debate nicely and betrayal doesn't come naturally to me, but in the cause of a larger good, or an even larger reward...."

Heavy Armour, Shield and Axe, Great-Axe, Spell and Axe, Spell and Shield. Depends on situation, but specialising in stealthy ranged ambush with poison then adamant melee survival tactics while the enemy bleeds out, if they get that long before i remove their head that is.

With the still-warm corpses of several angry brothers and accompanying guards currently feeding the wolves not far behind me, and the legal consequences of some criminal unpleasantness involving a certain married lady, large sums of gold and a elderly lord suffering a chemically induced stroke still hanging over my head, i find myself penniless and bereft in Skyrim, in need of a cause, a harem of willing wenches, a fortune, a steady supply of Cyrodilic Brandy and a good fight.

Having assesed the current situation and the potential benefits, and being a human halfelven, i hope i can act as a mediator to bring both sides of the Skyrim conflict to a mutually beneficial state of affairs. My dual blood should grant me some trust from both sides, and allow me insight and affinity with them too, but i see my loyalties at risk of being divided, both sides of my blood pulling me in different directions. Perhaps i will succeed, perhaps i will choose a side, perhaps i will be driven mad by xenophobia and self-hatred and take out my frustration upon all around me equally in a frenzy of dragonborn potential turned to evil. Perhaps i will just go shoot some bunnies for dinner, try to brew some mushroom alchohol, and live in a cave alone until i die of old age.

Thorin is an old nord that can live off the land and wonders the countryside helping the less fortunate. He has a large gray beard and untrimmed hair. His weapons of choice are magic in one hand and a sword in the other, but is he can find a way to avoid a fight whether by words or stealth he will. aka Gandalf.

I've already posted, but it's been a while.
Galexius, Dunmer, Battlemage, Destruction, One-Handed, Heavy Armor. He's really sort of a rogue mage, even though he is part of the College.

Dovahkiin (Original, right?)
Nord

Uses Stormcloak armor, and orcish blade. Was one of the most important pieces of the Stormcloak's rebellion, and one of the mightiest fighers Skyrim has seen in decades.
The Dragonborn, as he is now called, has been training the way of the voice, and has been using all his skill to help Skyrim beat these threats.

Arokel was crossing the border from Cyrodiil into Skyrim to train with the Companions and the College of Winterhold when he was caught up in the Imperial ambush set for Ulfric Stormcloak. Loyal to the Dominion, Arokel is driven by a strong nationalistic pride in his people and is influenced in his choices by what he considers to be the Dominion's best interest. While he is not as stuck up as many of his kind Arokel is still fiercely proud of his Altmeri heritage.

So, I don't have Skyrim yet, but might as well post my plan:

Name - Zadig-Shulabi Selkatanat
Race - Dunmer
Gender - Male
Stealth/combat focus.

I got carried away when writing the back story and sort of wrote a modest novel, so I apologise if TL;DR. The first part of it basically rehashes the events of Morrowind, anyway. Even though I have played Oblivion, I never played as this character and I don't think he'd fit well in the story, anyway. So I just pretend that someone else did it.

As a nameless prisoner he came to Vvardenfell. He was only sixteen and he remembered nothing: no name, no parents, no childhood. His earliest memory is of Azura speaking to him in a dream, followed immediately by waking on a ship. Because of this, he often refers to her as his mother. He lived on Vvardenfell first by thievery and crime, then by greed and irreverent treasure-hunting. Slowly he discovered the capabilities of his body, and finally began to use his wealth to transform himself into a powerful warrior. Arrogance followed closely behind. While sorting through his things before moving house yet another time, he noticed a very old letter with an Imperial seal. He pried it open, and at last was set upon the trail that led him to the Blades.

Five years late to his own prophecy, the soon-to-be Nerevarine pieced together the ancient secrets of his destiny. After contracting Corprus and being cured, and in the process having the debilitating disease be turned into a set of wondrous enhancements, he became even more convinced that ending old, shambling Dagoth Ur's scheme was an easy matter. As soon as he heard of Kagrenac's tools and how they may be used to destroy the Heart, he marched headily unto Red Mountain, refusing the counsel of the priests and the Blades. He took the tools; but when he entered the citadel of Dagoth Ur and lay his hands upon them, prepared to strike the Heart of Lorkhan, the hammer and the blade struck him instead. He fell deep into the cauldron of Dagoth Ur, landing on a small island of jagged rock, within inches of his life. Humbled and despairing, he used his remaining strength to recall to safety in Balmora.

He was forced to face Caius Cosades after this humiliating defeat. The old man forgave his brashness and directed him to an Ashlander camp on the North Coast. It was there that he was moved by the most profound change in his life thus far: he found something in the culture and nature of the Ashlanders that spoke to him. He lay down his gaudy arms and armour and donned poor clothes, and picked up simple weapons. He stayed with the Ashlanders much longer than was required, learning their tales and their ways. The Ashlanders were at first reluctant to accept a stranger into their midst; but the outlander had proved himself to them more than several times, and they were pleasantly surprised by his curious and humble attitude, especially after being faced with the loathing and mockery of the "civilised" world. There he was given a name: Zadig from the great war khan, Shulabi from the wise woman, and Selkatanat from the slinking shadow.

Soon after, he was induced into their midst not only as Hearthfriend, but as Nerevarine. He brought peace and unity to the camps he visited, promised many great things and fulfilled those promises. When it came time to depart, he refused to wear his old armour: "I once faced Dagoth Ur as a king and was struck down; it is time to face him as a beggar and perhaps I shall be lifted up."

Having received the name of Hortator of the Great Houses with ease, as his fame was widespread by that time, he was called to an audience with Vivec. It was there that he learned of the final piece of the puzzle that, in his hotheadedness, he ignored: Wraithguard. Now armed properly with not only the correct tools, but quiet confidence and humility, he fulfilled his prophecy and brought down Dagoth Ur and his wretched House.

He was exhalted in Morrowind for many years after, but soon disappeared from the public and rejoined the Ashlanders. He brought the clans together and helped them to build cities of their own, vastly improving their living conditions and influence. They were few in number, but the protection of the Nerevarine was a great boon to their prosperity. He was named Great Khan of the Ashlander stronghold, and ruled for some decades (I am a bit fuzzy on the timeline around here).

Tragedy struck when Vivec disappeared mysteriously shortly after the Oblivion Crisis. The Ministry of Truth at last resumed its fateful course and struck the palace, triggering the catastrophic eruption of Red Mountain. Zadig-Shulabi Selkatanat valiantly protected his people, accompanying them northwest where the consequences of the eruption were less severe, and then eventually to the Morrowind mainland. Vvardenfell was sacked by the Argonians of Black Marsh shortly after.

The Ashlanders never quite gave up their homeland. They made and scattered ashes liberally on every settlement they founded; the clear air felt unnatural to them. This was not necessary for long, however; the ash from the eruption soon began to crawl over the mainland Morrowind sky, bringing with it famine and odd diseases. The Argonians, meanwhile, did not plan to stop at Vvardenfell; soon they began to overrun the mainland, razing settlements and looting cities.

With the disappearance of the last of the Tribunal and the destruction of Red Mountain, the loss of Wraithguard and the other last remaining pieces of the prophecy, the Nerevarine in dismay felt his power wane. Magic no longer flowed easily; his muscles responded less intuitively, his sword-hand grew easier and easier tired. He was unable to protect the Ashlanders from the Argonian onslaught. His people were slaughtered, and he fled in petrifying shame of his failure to save them. His might was all but gone, and yet he lived on.

In the North, in unfriendly Skyrim, is where he sought refuge. He had lost everything, but he sensed there must still be a reason that he is yet alive, some purpose that he left unfulfilled. Tormented day and night, he searched incessantly for the answer. He pored over old texts, read into every word of the prophecies concerning him, and at last he understood. It was in the Lost Prophecy of the Dissident Priests that the riddle was revealed to him, for he realised that "…Dragon-born and far-star-marked" was not a symbolic turn of phrase at all.

Since it's a single player game, I have no problem with inserting my characters into Pre-Existing families. You'll see that happen every once in a while.
(Note; most of these characters are meant to coexist. Tycane is the Dovahkiin, others are just other characters.)

Tycane Alturas (My Main Character), Wood Elf

-Tycane was a renowned adventurer, bard, ranger, and overall good Samaritan who hailed from Daggerfal. A master of dual wielding and light armor, Tycane made good money doing what he thought to be right. After adventures in Morrowind, he went to Skyrim to help the cause of the Stormcloaks simply because he felt it was the right thing to do.
He was promptly caught at the border and sent to be executed for crossing the border illegally.
After the attack on Helgen, he resumed his quest to join the Stormcloak rebellion. He made a stop in Riverwood, recruiting the bard Sven who was also a believer in the rebellion's cause, and went off to find the Golden Claw to aid his financial struggles that prevented himself from getting proper gear. On the way, he helped the jarl of Whiterun with the dragon problem, and learned that he was Dovahkiin; Dragon Born. This helped get him renown in Skyrim as well, and helped him go up the ranks of the Stormcloaks quickly. As a major figure in the war, Tycane helped win battle after battle.

During the

,
Sven was stricken in the eye with an arrow, and he died almost instantly. The grief over the loss of his first true friend in Skyrim hardened Tycane against the Imperial Legion for the battle, and he ruthlessly slaughtered what was left of their forces in the city, winning the battle decisively.

Afterwards, Tycane got to the task of stealing from the rich of Skyrim and giving to the destitute. During this time he met the young farmhand, Erik of Rorikstead. Paying for Erik's armor, Tycane recruited the newly named Erik the Slayer, and joined the Thieves Guild to further his helping of the poor.
As a duo, Tycane and Erik made an excellent strikeforce, and completed every one of their missions successfully. After a long few weeks full of

. Afterwards, he went on to gain access to the College of Winterhold. He befriended the Khajiit J'zargo, and took him with him on adventures as well, including his quest to learn more about his Dragonborn heritage. This accumulated with

After a long series of events, Tycane had unraveled the truth about his Dragonborn heritage, and went back to Rorikstead for a well-deserved rest. It was here that Tycane, J'zargo, and Erik decided to form the Minstrels, a group of like minded adventurers who do good work for little or no profit, so long as a good goal was achieved.

Name: Leowyn Mucro
Race: Breton.
Age: 24
Specialties:Swordsmanship, Archery, Alchemy, and speechcraft. Completely incompetant with magic.

Backstory: Leowyn was born into a moderately wealthy family in Chorrol, Leowyn spent most of his teenage years learning to hunt with his father. By the time he was 16, he was deadly with a bow, and competant in armed combat. By the time he was 18, he was making his living by killing various creatures and selling on their hides and meat to local vendors. When he was 23, he looked set for life. He was earning a good amount of money, he'd just bought his own house, he had many friends and was courting a girl from the town. One thing he never liked, was the high elf ban on Talos worship, he and his family would worship him in secret, along with many others. And one morning, when coming back from a 3 day hunting trip, he found many of the Talos worshipers had been rounded up and executed by the Thalmor. His family, his friends, and the girl.

Leowyn was enraged, but he did not want the same fate for himself. He packed up a few supplies, and set off north for Skyrim, he would have a fresh start there. Travelling through the Jeral mountains, Leowyn was ambushed by an Imperial squad. Who quickly sent him off to Helgen for execution.

Name: Okah

Race: Argonian

Gender: Female

Playstyle: Stealth mage with a focus on Destruction and Restoration, with a secondary focus on Alteration

Story: Raised as an orphan by an Argonian shamanic healer in the deep inland swamps of Black Marsh, harboring a deep religious relationship with the Hist and preened to be the village's next healer and caretaker of it's own village Hist.

One day, during her daily rite, upon licking the sap as part of her ceremony, she was given, much to her surprise, a clear, concise message: NORTH. Surprised, and doubtful, Okah nonetheless could perceive no other option than to listen to the will of the Hist, despite her reluctance to leave her village, her post, and the empathic embrace of the Hist. With a staff cut of the very tree she was raised to protect in hand, she said her tearful goodbyes to the community that had so gently raised her and began due north, unguided save for the Moons and the Sun, with waning faith that the purpose of this journey would become clear to her in time.

North, through Cyrodiil, long since out of contact with the voice of the Hist, until she came at last upon the border of Skyrim, where, unbeknownst to her, the possession of Hist was considered a crime due to it's hallucinogenic nature and, given the tumultuous nature of Skyrim and the Empire at that time, a crime that normally would have only warranted jail time was charged with the punishment of death. Hence the events of the game.

Okah believes (perhaps rightfully so) that the events that proceed were the will of the Hist all along. It is her hope that one day she will be recalled back by the Hist, when her journey is over, and enrich the knowledge of her people with the stories of her experiences.

-- (P.S) So many amazing back stories here, makes me so happy I'm not the only one who gets way too immersed in a character.

-Ralar Frost-Born
- Nord Male
- One handed w/ shield Warrior
- Ralar grew up in Solitude's Blue Palace as a servant. His father was Hagar Frost-Born, Housecarl to the High King of Skyrim, Torygg. The less told story is after Torygg was murdered, Hagar dueled Ulfric. Obviously Ulfric won and Hagar was killed. His mother, Gaia Frost-Born, attempted to warn Ulfric about the dangers of shouting before Ulfric shouted the force shout - "Fus Ro Dah" - at her, which killed her. Turns out Gaia's family has a history of being the only Dovahkiin line in Skyrim. Her family was historically protected by the High King and usually resided in Solitude's palace in safety.

(One of my characters not connected to Tycane, not in the same continuity, etc.)
Vaandar (Nord)
Vaandar was a resident of Riverwood who lived with his mother Hilde and his brother Sven. He and his brother were always at odds with Faendal, the wood elf, as they were children, and the two brothers began to teach themselves how to use weapons so they could contend with Faendal's fighting training.
Vaandar got a job early with Alvor the smith, and crafted leather at the smith for most of his young life. Finally, when he was 18, Alvor let him use iron, and he forged his first blade, which he named Vedfeyn (Dragon for 'Black Bane', which he learned from a book). He took to the iron quickly and forged many blades, maces, and axes, giving Sven a sword two months later.
Eventually, Sven became smitten by the new arrival to the village, Camilla Valerius. Eager to please her and get on her good side, Sven offered to help recover the Golden Claw that was stolen from her brother's store.

Vaandar heartily disapproved of Sven going off to Bleak Falls Barrow by himself just for a woman. Sven snuck out in the middle of night anyway, however, and Vaandar caught up to him, offering to help if he couldn't stop him. Armed with only iron equipment and Vedfeyn, Vaandar felt that he could at least protect his fur geared brother. And so the two ventured forth to Bleak Falls Barrow.

On the way, the two brothers were alerted to the sounds of fighting, and drew their swords. An imperial patrol had ambushed a group of Stormcloaks and saw the brothers as Stormcloak followers, since they had their weapons drawn. The patrol attacked, and the brothers prevailed against the injured soldiers. Before, Sven and Vaandar did not care about the Stormcloak/Imperial conflict, but after seeing it so close to home, it sparked the beginning of a fierce nationalism within the two men. Eager to return home quickly, they reached Bleak Falls Barrow and attacked the bandits there, their superior equipment giving them an edge over the fur-wearing vagabonds. They retrieved the claw, and examined the riches they had amassed. Figuring that there could possibly be more inside, they ventured further into the Barrow to look for more treasure so they could finance equipment needed so they could join the Stormcloak cause. They encountered Draugr and a frost troll, which almost killed Sven, though he was saved from a deadly fall by Vaandar. They eventually defeated the Draugr leader in the barrow and grabbed his share of treasure.

Vaandar also got a strange dizzy spell from the wall in the room, though he dismissed it. The two returned to the village as heroes, and sold their prizes at the Riverwood trader. Buying himself a set of steel armor and Sven a set of iron armor, Vaandar led his brother to Whiterun and took a carriage to Windhelm, where they would finally join the Stormcloak rebellion.

In his haste he was caught crossing the border to Skyrim.

Well im thinking about my next character and this is the route im thinking.

Name: Modryn Veylas
Race: Dunmer (Dark Elf)
Gender: Male
Status: Single and ready to mingle
Playstyle: Sneak Tank
Day Job: Forge Master

So after experimenting with a bunch of stuff on my first playthrough this is what ive come up with. He will be a sneak tank, who is exceptionally well trained in sneak, heavy armor, and one handed. I plan on using my perks so when sneaking around with my daedric dagger i will be nothing but a shadow. And whenever i feel like going hardcore on somebody i will pull out the old daedric sword and go to town on em. From a role playing standpoint, he will be an ex-morag tong assassin who fled to skyrim to escape the turmoils happening in morrowind.
Spoiler:
after staying alive after almost being excecuted, and being saved by alduin from what seemed like sure death

I will escape and settle down in the town of whiterun where i will have learned from gray-mane himself to become a master forger.

Perks i plan to focus on:
Sneak, Heavy Armor, One-handed, Smithing, Block (maybe)

That's what Edwina Clawhammer is missing: her backstory. Why was she trying to sneak into Skyrim? Yeah, she was caught because of bad luck, just happened to sneak into the middle of a civil war battlefield. Ooops! What a suspicious place to get caught! Nobody told her there was a civil war going on here!!

So what was she doing so far from home? By herself?

The only logical answer is that she was trying to smuggle contraband into Skyrim. She worked for a drug syndicate owned by her extended family. A certain type of illegal drug is easily produced down south in her jungly home country, she was a mule, moving product north.

But once she escaped from Imperial captivity, why didn't she just go home?

Because she never liked being part of the family smuggling business. And after that brush with imprisonment and possible execution, she had to do some serious rethinking. Why not go legit in a foreign land? Well, not exactly legit. No, not at all. Well, she tried to go legit. At first. The Jarl gave her the key to the city! Until she fell in with the local mafia, and then with the werewolves. Sigh. She's just not the legit type. Homeowner? Marriage? [&@%!].

But now she's chosen her own family. Not the family the Gods gave her, but her own family, freely chosen. And she's never going back.

Name: Undeyrl
Race: Dunmer
Gender: Female
Style: Battlemage & Fire Mage, switches between double spells or war axe + spell

Born and raised in Morrowind, Undeyrl left her home and decided to join the ashlanders. The nomadic lifestyle suited her needs as it allowed her to avoid the bustle of the cities and the ongoing political matters. This also allowed her to learn new skills such as crafting, and the local wildlife allowed her to practice her magic.
Eventually, Undeyrl became tired of the life as a traveller and escaped to the Shivering Isles in order to party with some crazy people and finally meet the fabled Sheogorath. Whilst there she learnt many skills from the locals, mostly alchemy and smithing. Eventually the weirdness became too much for her and she left, only to discover Morrowind in ruins, inhabited by foreigners. It was like a different land to her and the changes left the area unhospitable.
Again she left, instead fleeing to Skyrim. Undeyrl was halted at the border and immediatly captured to be executed.

I just re-started a new character abandoning my pure mage breton for a Bosmer (Robin Hood) archer. This is the first time I play as a pure archer. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that this playstyle was going to be so much fun. Im specializing in archery, spend some perk points in light armor, alchemy to poison my arrows, sneak and blacksmith. Im also enjoying cooking and living off the land. During Bosmer character creation I made him look too strong and didn't like the way he looked walking around looking like an Nord or an Orc since Wood Elves are nimble and quick. So I did the tutorial again and made him a thin wood elf. My acher wears armor out in the wild but once he arrives at a city or town he chooses from an assortment of plain clothes to wear. He takes his time never rushing to complete quests. Long live the Mer.

Whee! First serious character:

Rukh-Belathor Asaroux
Breton, of Evermor, High Rock.
Level: 14
Specialities: Conjuration and One-Handed, e.g. summoning a big sword and running at something, with a Destruction or Restoration spell in the left hand.
Status: Married.
Stone: Mage stone.
Personality: Known around Whiterun as "The poutiest man alive".

Rukh Asaroux is the scion of a near-legendary family of eccentrics originating from somewhere at the dawn of the fourth era, Rukh was on the obligatory decadal trip around to the major Tamrielic shrines of Sheogorath, when he accidentally stepped into the Imperial ambush at Darkwater Crossing.

Know he's practically settled down in Skyrim, taking in an almost maniacal obsession with collecting Ancient Nord Weapons, the collecting being a trait very common in his family. His oldest known ancestor got famous for transporting an entire island to her own estate near Evermor, and is said to have eventually disappeared into that island. Some even claim that she didn't die. Whatever the answer, Rukh Asaroux will not bring shame to his family.

Dunmer called Vlade

only getting good at the things he needs at the moment, so 1 handed, heavy armour, healing, destruction, a bit of smithing and alchemy, some bow skill. Have done main quest and just met the greybeards, and plan to do some independent exploring for a while, and open up some of the map.. have mainly increades stamina and a bit of health, tho now i realse stamina increases load, i will probably not increase it too much cos i prefer to be disciplined in what i pick up, rather than run a pack horse character

Saving up for a house so I can get Lydia settled and off I'll go to have some fun on my own, only 12th level so far mainly cos i'm not totally into Skyrim just yet, probably cos i have so many other games and stuff on at the moment and will become totally obsessed with Vlades shenanigans in the next few weeks

dunno why i play Dunmer for first characters, i think i like the red eyes.. looking forward to having a nord berserker/thief called Matt the Destroyer.. being Dunmer provokes some interesting lore related comments from npcs, esp the fighters guild dark elf: "we are all Ashlanders now, brother" cool

Name: Valoer Boar-Beater.
Race: Nord.
Gender: male.
Style: light armor and dual maces. Likes to smith.
Personality: always attacks the enemy head on no matter how outnumbered he is.
Backstory: this scar-faced Nord has a compulsive need to beat the life out of any boar that comes near him with his bare fists. Wild boars are now extinct in Skyrim.
