They can be purple or yellow as well as red/blue, so I would've somehow included those colours in the riddle. :)

OK, hint time:
There's a reason the riddle says "never mourned" before the "red or blue" part and not the other way around.

The answer has nothing to do with the DB, or any other faction for that matter. OR... I could say it's loosely related to one faction, but that would just lead you to another wrong track. :)
