I think you are letting the Daedric symbol distract you - it does have another meaning as well, and that meaning is actually what I am implying here.

Drowning signifying either the Sea of Ghosts or the fact you're overwhelmed when reading any of his books? The window being the Oghma Infinium itself as a window to knowledge...

...and he doesn't tolerate failure.

Molag bal wants a servant, the book could be a reference to the book of oblivion, as for the child I'm lost for now... If that's a black book then the oblivion sign could be for apocrypha, hermaeus mora could bring us back around to yngol being drown during his fathers many encounters with hermaeus mora...
