The only thing this reminds me of is 'No Stone Unturned' and Barenziah's Crown in Tolvald's Cave, but that can't be the answer...

I think its redwater den, particularly redwater spring.

Again, I think its redwater spring where there is a broken skeleton in the basin. No name and no inventory.

None correct yet, though the Redwater Den was kind of close.

And I misspelt "now". Sorry. It has no name, and you can't select it, but it is a thing with a noun attached to it.

I've finally started Dawnguard and I have a guess: Serana in Dimhollow Crypt.

Down the path to rotting pools, - the area she's in is encircled by water
I give no thing, I have no name, - Is that an Elder Scroll? Yes. And it's mine! + refuses to trade with you (Gives no thing) - at first is called simply "Mysterious woman" (Has no name)

I don't know if the other lines can fit but the you said Redwater Den was on the right track, so it could be related to the Vampires

Questions:

1) Was it the part about Redwater Spring or the skeleton that Alnevar was close with? Or both?

2) How likely are we to see this on the Main Quest? Is it in an area/dungeon that we pass through without necessarily seeing it (e.g. a Dwemer device in Blackreach or a skeleton in Bleak Falls Barrow), or is it prominent in an area that we don't necessarily visit (e.g. a Word Wall)?

You have to pass through it on the Main Quest, but it IS down a side passage...

And it was not the location I was referring to. Strangely, you almost got it right with your question there.
